McKinney Boyd HS: City in The Sky

Confirmed selections:

Machu Picchu: City in the Sky by Satoshi Yagisawa

Oblivion by Astor Piazzolla

From what ive heard from people that have heard the opening is that the quality and difficulty is many times harder and better then the previous years show, not even a comparison, so will definitely be a group to look out for.

I really like how the show sounds till the ballad which is the furthest shown of the show, the show doesnt have any breaks between parts and steps on the gas.

They are also getting clinics from Vandegrifts guard director and the Blue Coats assistant brass caption lead, so Im fully expecting stronger placements compared to last year

Forney High School Band (5A): In the Arena

https://www.facebook.com/ForneyHSBand/videos/258941409858977/

Musical Selections include:

Feste Romane by Respighi

Metallica (don’t know the exact song we’re using, but oh well)

I know we’re using another composer, but I blanked on it. Extremely excited and want y’all to know we’re going all in this season. Can’t wait for everyone to see this soon in performances! :)

- Forney Band Marcher

Can’t wait to see y’all at the Prosper regional!!! This show looks dope as heck, and Ik Forney is once again going to do great. Y’all’s 2021 is still one of my favorite shows ever, and I wish y’all the best of luck this year!

I do remember seeing your post about it and being so happy you loved the show! I am a senior this year, so this will be my last show, but hopefully I can visit the comps or games sometimes (when college doesn’t occupy me).

Quick addition: there’s a lot planned for this show. The directors are excited to go above and beyond, especially with the success of Lock and Key (last year’s show). I will say that I don’t know what’s up with us playing a bunch of emoish artists (Radiohead was last year), but I am all for it.

I will say though that this show is my last show for my marching season. I am excited to see what the directors do, and from what we’ve been told, we’re going for it all! Can’t wait for HEB in September!

Lake Ridge Highschool (6A): Both sides of the rainbow.

Featuring music from pink floyd, Elton John, and Dimitri Shastakovich, this show will show the darker meaning and colorful side of the rainbow. Also guessing upon the video on their instagram, it will be heavily inspired off themes from the wizard of oz with multiple pictuues of yellow brick roads and more showing. The trailer is on their instagram page found here.https://www.instagram.com/lakeridgehsband/?hl=en SOOOOOO excited for this show!

Looks amazing! I’m very excited to see how this program builds off the success they’ve have the past 2 years, especially last year! I would really love to them see them make state, but Area B is such a bloodbath, especially those last 2 or 3 spots. I’m very excited to see them at I’m assuming Wylie(unless they go back to Midland) and the prosper regional. Good luck Eagle Band!

lol wtf. had to look this up. would be cool, i dunno, maybe, seems like it would be expensive to make him, he's very detailed. preeetty sure they're doing the benches, saw a lot of curved movable platforms.

sounded a'ight at their recent exhibition. some struggling trumpet stickouts but vid was filmed at floor level way off to the right side. only did the first minute. no outside drill. prob too hot.

So now that just about everyone's shows are out there, which are the ones you are most excited to see??

Trollgirls 2 for sure. also Coppell's, Pearland's, and Dripping Springs'.

For me it’s Duncanville! They have such a cool show design, and I think they could do some serious “damage” to the competition if they execute this show well which I think they will. Also Coppell, TW and ofc Hebron. And Cedar Ridge, basically everyone.

Yep the heat index made it too hot- they weren’t allowed to be outside. They’ve moved practices next week into the evening hours (instead of after school) hoping they can get some outside time- this last week they only got tiny amounts of time to work on drill with school starting.

Similar things happening in North Texas. Tons of breaks, indoors for a good portion of rehearsal. Loss of productivity makes me really worried.

L. D. Bell High School (6A) - "It All Begins With A Dot."

The show is based on Georges Seurat's A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Musical selections haven't been publicly revealed yet I believe, but I've been to one of their night rehearsals and they are back to their standard size (a little over 120 brass and woodwinds on the field) and sound a lot better than last year for early season. They do have a new percussion director after Ben Maughmer retired. I look forward to seeing how successful they are this season!

Definitely an interesting concept. I think for UIL this will do well but I don’t know how well this will translate for BOA. Will be exciting to see regardless!

yeah there's gonna be a lot of last minute schedule adjustments i think. they need an indoor training facility like Carmel has lol. actually Brett was looking into that back in the day but def it was a pipe dream.

the indoor activity is the future, no question.

Vista Ridge’s and Keller’s caught my attention the most because both seem so different than what I would usually expect from them. Also excited for Coppell, The Woodlands, and Seven Lakes.
