UIL 6A Area J 2024
Tubalord11 replied to crunchycookie3's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Definitely one of the most competitive! One spot for 7 bands that are worthy of state. Unfortunately, UIL won't be doing anything soon to adjust this area, especially since they just made this area this season, but hopefully the last band is able to be different each season -
Uil 6A Area D Contest

Good luck in advance to everyone competing here. I personally think this is the most competitive 6A area this year. Only 5 spots, and honestly, Reagan is currently my only lock. Do I think Cedar Ridge is gonna make it, yes. Is it 100% guaranteed, absolutely not. Every band here is going to be fighting tooth and nail for state, it really is just mind blowing to me how many spots are open for grabs, with so many areas in 6A already having at least 2 or 3 bands that should be locks only only hauling a couple or even one spots left between so many bands, while finals here will be everyone equally competing for each spot. Good luck at there y’all, I’d absolutely be here if I could -

Anything is possible, but I don't know how realistic it would be, would be great for the program though -

Okay so there are only 22(maybe 21) bands in this area in total, so yeah only 4 to state -

Yeah I definitely could see it happening, mainly have them there based on how they did at Vista, haven’t seen how they’ve done at any other comps -
Bumping this contes! Schedule should be ready to be added @LeanderMomma! Good luck to McNeil and Timber Creek here!! I do plan on watching finals from home, do have a 2:39 football game but hoping to catch most of finals 🤞Really wanna see our two Tx bands, but also Blue Springs, Bentonville, Broken Arrow, and everyone else!! Should be a good one! Also, quite the judging Lineup! Kim Shuttlesworth and Katie VanDoren will be here (director of Coppell and director at Vandy in 22 and 23)

My current knowledge is limited on some of these programs but here’s my guess based on results I’ve seen 1. Hendrickson 2. Pieper/Lake Belton 3. LB/Pieper 4. Smithson Valley/Hays/ McCallum 5. Hays/SV/Mac 6. Mac/Hays/SV 7. New Braunfels 8. Weiss 9. Anderson 10. Georgetown/Belton/Pflugerville -

It's 100% possible we see some new faces at state, especially considering the amount of success multiple programs are having this season, it will all just come down to Saturday night, but also the groups that have recently been making it haven't been getting any worse, quiet the opposite if anything, but I'd love to see some new faces make it and surprise us! -

UIL 6A Area C 2024
Tubalord11 replied to BandNerd07's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
yeah. They also moved some bands out of 6A area b into area C, mainly Richardson ISD, and then all the south Dallas schools, and Waxahachie -

Just a little side note, the Lewisville schools (flomo, marcus, Lewsville and Hebron), as well as the Denton, prosper, Wylie and McKinney schools aren't in this area anymore, they made a new area, area J -

Yeah sorry but this is wild lol, no worries though Walnut Grove didn't make state last year, just an fyi Also, Wakeland and Lonestar will almost 100% be 1 and 2, and then anything else is possible. Wakeland finished 3rd at state last year and LS 7th -

I think the biggest issue with area B is that they already don't have a ton of bands in the area, and it's just that almost all of the bands in that area are insanely good. I don't really know what they would do, but there's only 24 bands in total anyways, so if you were to split it into two, you'd have those two areas talking now only 2 to state, and if I had to guess, I'd be an area with the Frisco schools, so region 24, and then everyone else in another, so there's not really much that can be done here right now anyways unfortunately, just how it's gonna be unless the area starts to grow significantly -
UIL 6A Area I 2024
Tubalord11 replied to ruben_f's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I think the area D would like is I have a word 😂 but yeah, I is super competitive this year, honestly, this might be the most competitive year for Area in general for all classes, definitely 5A and 6A, at least imo. So many bands that were left out are now seeing success on a new level, and that’s happening to so many programs that we may have some new faces at state, and some long-timers may not make it, that’s how good everyone is getting -
Here’s my shot at this contest. I honestly have no idea how things are going to shake out, so many bands could be in so many different placements, i honestly don’t know what’s gonna happen, other than Hebron winning, but here’s my guess: 1. Hebron (sweep) 2. Waxahachie 3. Southlake Carrol 4. Wylie 5. Keller 6. Lake Travis 7. Rockwall 8. JJ Pearce 9. Keller Central 10. Plano East 11. Lake Ridge 12. James Martin 13. Plano Senior 14. Lamar 15. Weatherford 16. Canyon

UIL 6A Area C 2024
Tubalord11 replied to BandNerd07's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
If I remember correctly, there 1 should count towards this area, I think. I know that if a band gets a 1 and opts out of area, there 1 still counts towards the number of bands to state (for example, if 25 bands get 1 but only 21 go, they still send 5 to state). -
UIL 5A Area B 2024
Tubalord11 replied to Mike McBandiel's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Yeah that’s a great question, at this point it’s a mystery to all lol it was always just the 3 music 2 marching with the raw score out of a 1000 and then the placement ranking till 22, which they had the huge sheet with the breakdown of each category, and then last year was just the rankings from each judge. If I had to guess, I’d be that, but at this point we’re gonna have to wait till the are released For your first question, no, I don’t believe so. The judges are looking for a consistent sound/tone from each member, clear articulation, dynamics, variety in rhythms, but really just clean sounds. The issue for smaller bands is one, producing as much sound, but it’s also much easier to hear mistakes bc with big bands, it can get covered up more easily since they have bigger members. But the judges Should be judging each band equally. Hope ya’ll have some great performances this weekend, gl at area!!!
