  1. Congratulations to Friendswood, College Station, Barber Hills, Consolidated, Kempner and Angleton on advancing to state!!
  2. Congratulations to NM, Poteet, Mount Pleasant, and LC on going to state!!! Super happy to MP and Lakeview going, first time for LC and a long time for MP. Really sucks with what happened to WM, but I had this same experience during my HS days where my band was going to state in prelims but then we weren't in finals. It happens, part of having to be consistent from one performance to the next. As for Kaufman, Ig it just wasn't there day, probably just some nervous going in as that tends to happen when people expect you to make it after doing so well at previous comps. Regardless, congratulations to everyone whose comp season ended, some really amazing shows in this area this year!!
  3. Congratulations to CP, Rouse, Leander, Glenn and LH on advancing to state!!! Can't wait to see how these programs do!!
  4. Congratulations to Hendrickson, Pieper, LB, Hays, and SV on advancing to state!! Glad to see Hays is finally going back, but not really any shockers here. Big ups to LASA, about time they made finals, congratulations to ya'll on your season, and to everyone else that ended their comp season!!
  5. Good morning, everyone. Congratulations to Wakeland, LS, MN, and Argyle on advancing to state! Ofc, we all knew that someone was going to get left out, just how competitions work, and this year was no different. I hope everyone at LT is doing okay, Ik it's probably a little hard after making it these past few area comps but do keep in mind now that area is every year, so freshmen, you've still got 3 more chances at state now rather than 1, and this goes for everyone!! Super happy to see Reedy in 6th (Congratulations Mr. Heuer!!!), I'd say I'm a little surprised Walnut Grove wasn't a little higher, but other than that not much to say as I can't really judge since I wasn't there lol. Looking at prelims, not shocked to see TC and Emerson be the first two out, but yeah, congrats to everyone who's season is now over, go get some well-deserved rest, and let's go represent well at state!!
  6. Congrats to Hebron on the win, no surprise there!! WYLE, talk about having their best season ever, are we looking at a possible new state finalist??đź‘€ Obviously, they've to make it out of area J, which won't be easy, but I think it's gonna be them or Prosper anyways, but we'll know soon. Rockwall also coming out and making statement, good showing going into next weekend as well. Congratulations to everyone!
  7. Good morning, all! As we possibly expected, the site, at least for me, was not loading, I'm guessing due to people wanting to see Area results, so that's what caused me to stop posting lol. Anyways, McNeil was fantastic, so much to love about that show, and they are executing on such a high level, I don't know over who, but they've got a ton of potential for making state next weekend. Broken Arrow was ridiculously good, no surprise, really loved their music book. Bentonville, God that show is just so powerful with emotion, the kids really put everything into the story, and they were just so good last night. And ofc Blue Springs, just wow. Such a magical show, from the beautiful music to the visuals that add some much depth, unreal. Really wish they were going to nats, because that's a possible Gold medal show right there, and they've already proven they can stick with Avon and Carmel. But yeah, I actually had them getting 1st and winning visual/GE, and BA second with music, but yeah, an amazing finals, great job everyone!
  8. Broken Arrow, I have no words. The new design team has absolutely killed it, because this is the direction that this program needed to go in regarding show design. HOLY S**T!!! The individual demand is just off the charts, musically but mainly visually, SO MUCH BODY WORK!!! It's such a simple theme, but they just enhance every aspect of it with their amazing sounds and insane visual cleanliness. I love their music selections so much and am just blown away by what I just watched. They are going to be hard to beat tonight, and I think have high medal if not gold potential at GN's. Prob my second favorite BA show behind 21, wow wow wow
  9. O'Fallon Township-OH MY LORD!!! This show is super cool. and for such a "common/basic" theme, they are putting so much effort into making their presentation of the story stand out! Musicality if off the charts in this group, from soloists to the ensemble. Woodwinds were just ripping through those technical passages, brass with such presence and clarity, I mean wow. Tons of visual GE throughout, super cool pre-show, though some small patches of ensemble dirt, mainly minor spacing issues, but not anything that will hurt them majorly. But I mean goodness, they are looking to do some possible damage at Grand Nats!
  10. Solid show from Rosemount! Personally, I feel like they are playing Ode to Joy way to much, even though it's different styles/keys of the piece. Regardless, they sounded and looked great, though could definitely see some groups pass them. Guard was amazing, so many big group flag moments they nailed
  11. Great stuff from Morton!! They put out some big sound for their size, with really solid sounds across the group! Some very clean cover-downs, great work from the soloists
  12. Bentonville West just threw down!!! Amazing ensemble balance on the sustained chords, and another super strong brass section. Woodwinds ripping through those licks, some really technical stuff they are killing. Amazing use of True Colors in the ballad, beautiful work from the soloists, and what an action punched closer. Really happy to see them in finals with Bentonville, awesome stuff
  13. Union being the first band I see tonight, WOW! What a strong and extremely well blended brass section. Great GE through the drill, soloists/small ensembles were amazing, just such a well-designed show that they are executing so well! Could listen to that brass for hours, my gosh that was amazing!
  14. Congratulations to all the finalist!! Def a little surprised not to see Emerson or The Colony in finals, but as myself and others said, making the night show was going to be super hard regardless of how well your program has done at previous contest, and this goes to show that. Can't wait to see results, best of luck to all our finalist!
  15. Congrats to all of the finalist!! I unfortunately will be starting the stream at 8 missing Timber and the first couple of groups, just got back from the football game but will be back on in a sec with Union!!
  16. Please do if you can, especially results if possible
  17. For every 5 bands that get a 1 in a region, they take on to state. However, if a band does military style or decided not to go to area, they still count that bands 1 in terms of how many go to state. For example, if 23 bands in an area get a 1, they take to state, even if only 18 bands show up.
  18. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! Let’s make history today!!!
  19. Sounds like McNeil was awesome last night, great to hear! Good luck all the other bands performing today, especially Timber Creek!!
  20. Yeah assuming a parent or student who’s there hops in after or during results we’ll have them real fast after awards
  21. We”ll definitely know who goes to state during the announcement assuming someone there can post them. We will have to wait for the specific scores until UIL post them though
  22. Pearce was second at Plano East and won the McKinney competition, so I thinks it’s fair to say they’re going to do good here, but we’ll have a better look after the Duncanville comp
  23. It's gonna be super close between 3-5. Sachse, Rockwall and D-ville honestly all have an equal shot at state imo, and will really come down to their finals performance as to who advances. I think Waxahachie pretty much has 1st in the bag, but Forney will definitely give them a run for their money, it's just hard to know where to place them since they haven't competed in a good while. I'm also not count out JJ Pearce to make state, and tomorrow will really give us a good idea as to where they stand in the 3rd-6th range
  24. Final guess for tomorrow: 1. Wakeland 2. Lonestar 3rd Lebanon Trail 4th. Argyle/North 5. Argyle/MN 6. Reedy 7. Walnut Grove 8. Emerson 9. The Colony 10. Anyone else Good luck to all competing, I really think anyone in the 3rd-9th range has state potential, but I do personally think the top 4 or 5 are gonna be the same as last year. I also think Argyle will make it, it's their best show to date, and they are playing and moving on another level, and after seeing them at Bedford, I could tell they really stepped up their game this year. Everything though will come down to performance, and every spot in finals and to state will be earned, from 1st-10th. Wish I could be here, but I'll for sure be checking in throughout the day
  25. Yeah, I get your points. I think the biggest issue with using recordings is that having a second performance tends to sometimes be what really helps motivate a group which then could result in them moving up spots and making state, especially for the programs that make finals that have to perform so early. I think the system right now is fair in terms of the evaluation process, it's just that simply due to the competitiveness of Texas marching band, certain areas are going to have legacy programs that are at state year after year. Another issue with what you suggested is that if there was a committee that judged all the bands in the area, those that make state from areas that don't tend to have any finalists (not trying to dog on anyone just get a point across, everyone who makes state is amazing!) wouldn't get the opportunity to make state. Texas just has SO many amazing marching bands, and it's reflected throughout the nation, but I think the system they have in place is as good and fair as it's gonna get, but I do understand what you're saying. I think state, especially in the areas like J where there's really only one spot for grabs (assuming the 3 Lewisville schools don't fall off) serves as a good motivator for members to really give it their all from day one knowing they have to be their best come area finals if they want to advance.
