  2. guess what's back With the 2023 Marching Contest season beginning in less than a month, I thought it would be finally time to bring back this topic for the 2023 season. Here you can talk with everyone about results from a contest that you attended for UIL Region and so we can also take the time to congratulate all bands who advance on to the Area contest, and to all 1A bands who advance on to State. This will also allow us to congratulate all Military Style bands that advance on to the State Military Marching Contest. Can't wait for the season to begin!
  3. Yep, I am doing this again! I really enjoyed doing the last one and I thought it would be easier to make this topic before summer even begins! We will be seeing many new faces in each of the classifications, some moved down, some moved up, and a couple are competing for the first time! Can't wait to see what is in store for each of the classifications, do you think that Tenaha and Hebron will hold on to the State title? Or will someone else take it as their own? Also with 4A, do you think Canton or North Lamar will bring the State Title home? or will a new band finally get the chance to hold the State trophy?
  4. I still can’t believe that there are contests this fall for EVERY single class in UIL! What a year. The 6A state marching contest will be held in the Alamodome on Monday, November 8 with prelims lasting all day long followed by finals on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 9. As a reminder, the 2A class bands will have prelims the morning of Tuesday the 9th with finals being held that evening after the completion of the 6A class. The 4A class competition is to be held all day on Wednesday, November 10.
  5. 5A UIL Prelims Schedule for Monday, November 1. Rio Grande City HS 9:00 Hanks HS 9:15 Summit HS 9:30 Wakeland HS 9:45 Poteet HS 10:00 A&M Consolidated HS 10:15 Roma HS 10:30 Fulshear HS 10:45 McCallum HS 11:00 Rouse HS 12:00 Lubbock Cooper HS 12:15 Burleson Centennial HS 12:30 Highland Park HS 12:45 Friendswood HS 1:00 Porter HS 1:15 Wylie East HS 1:30 Lopez HS 1:45 Colleyville Heritage HS 2:30 Cedar Park HS 2:45 Hendrickson HS 3:00 Randall HS 3:15 Lone Star HS 3:30 Sharyland HS 3:45 Foster HS 4:00 Forney HS 4:15 College Station HS 5:30 Horizon HS 5:45 Aledo HS 6:00 Lebanon Trail HS 6:15 Leander HS 6:30 Dripping Springs HS 6:45 Sharyland Pioneer HS 7:00 Bel Air HS 7:15
  6. I'm almost scared to open up this forum considering what happened with it in 2018, but I wanted to know y'alls thoughts on Area B 6A this year since all the keller school are coming back. Here is my current list of bands registered. Region 5 - 11 Bands Registered Arlington HS Bowie HS Houston HS Lamar HS Martin HS Cedar Hill HS Paschal HS Grand Prairie HS South Grand Prairie HS Lake Ridge HS Mansfield HS Region 20 - 9 Bands Registered Skyline HS Townview HS Desoto HS Duncanville HS Berkner HS Lake Highlands HS Pearce HS Richardson HS Waxahachie HS Region 30 - 8 Bands Registered North Crowley HS Boswell HS Chisholm Trail HS Keller Central HS Fossil Ridge HS Keller HS Timber Creek HS Weatherford HS Region 31 - 9 Bands Registered Haltom HS Carroll HS Coppell HS (V) Coppell HS (JV) LD Bell HS Trinity HS Irving HS MacArthur HS Nimitz HS Total - 37 Bands Registered (Let me know if I misspelled a bands name, if I missed a band or if there are any future updates) (Other note, UIL Region is on October 12th for Regions 5, 30, 31, With October 13th for Region 20)
  7. Looks like 5A Area E will be having a finals round this time around unlike in 2019 where it was one and done. What are some predictions so far?
  8. Hey everyone, so the contest schedules for Area E in all conferences have been posted on the Area E sites, so I thought I would make the topic for Area E. I'll be making them for Area C and Area D as well. It looks to be an interesting contest for Area E, with 5 bands competing in 2A Area E, 14 Bands competing in 4A Area E, and 10 Bands competing in 6A Area E. What also makes the 6A contest interesting is how both Area E and Area F are in the same stadium this year. So here is the topic for Area E, lets see who makes it to State this year!
  9. Hey everyone, here is the Area C topic for the 2020 season! Some interesting results will be coming in, especially for 4A and 6A! For 2A, 5 Bands have qualified, so that means 3 bands are advancing to the 2A State marching contest. The 2A contest is also being held in the same venue as the 4A contest. For 4A, 11 bands have qualified for Area, so 3 bands will be advancing to State. Some big changes from Area C is that most of the Military bands are marching at the State Military contest, which means that some notable bands like Spring Hill will not be marching at the Area C contest. For 6A, 17 bands are performing at the Area contest, But more than 20 qualified for the Area contest, since Region 25 6A bands, which include Allen HS and Plano district aren't performing at the contest, so 20 bands had actually qualified for the contest, so 4 bands will be advancing to the State contest!
  10. It is time for the first group of bands to compete at the Area Contest and have a potential to advance to the state level! 9 Bands have qualified to Area A for 4A and the three bands that everyone will be watching are Canyon HS, Big Spring HS, and Pecos HS, who advanced to the State Marching contest in 2018. The other bands, Greenwood HS, Dumas HS, Seminole HS, Levelland HS, Monahans HS, and Andrews HS could also have a chance to advance, since anything can happen at Area. Good Luck to all that are competing in the contest!
  11. Just for fun! Attached is a decade in review workbook with links to the show videos. The file has 2010 through 2019 Texas Marching Bands with the top 5 BOA San Antonio and top 5 UIL for each year. Hope this gives you something to watch while we miss Concert and Guard season. 14. If y'all were not already aware there were significant UIL Music Updates both, on the UIL Music department level and including updates to the Music Sections of the UIL Constitution. I will start with some news that I could not find any reference from the official Music Update PDFs or even the C&CR Update to the UIL Constitution. If you were not already aware, UIL State Marching Band contest now takes place 3 days, at least for the 4A/6A Conference that is anyways. Inside the spoiler are the dates with the direct source. Next are UIL Music Updates to the Prescribed Music List and State Marching Band Championships. The 2nd and 3rd one I had actually suggested through submitting a proposal to amend the UIL Constitution, which I figured warranted this since updating the UIL C&CR would had been unnecessary. xD Even though, I had graduated already, I knew that if it did went through, I would left behind another unknown legacy which was worth the risk. :3 Inside the spoilers are the 3 Music Updates and the sources. Finally, we have C&CR Updates for the 2016-17 School Year that affect UIL Music since it has already gone into effect for the year starting in August or September. That is all for now. Here is the *PDF Link* for people that want to see the 2016-2017 UIL Constitution Here is the *PDF Link* to the TEA-UIL Side by Side for 2016-2017 which does not change at all or if anything does change it is usually minimal or unnoticeable. Also, if you want to see the UIL Rule Proposals you can look over here too... *Insert Link Here* And for anyone wondering how I managed to have successfully proposed a rule change for the UIL Music State Marching Band Contest, I actually submitted a large idea proposal of various ideas via the only form for suggesting UIL Rules changes because anyone in Texas can submit a rule change. You don't even have to be in austin at their UIL meeting for the rule proposal to be brought up anyways. xD *Insert that Link here* Okay, for real though, that is all for now.
  15. Just curious as to what people's predictions may be for the 2015 UIL 5A State Marching Band Contest (competitors, finalists, medalists, etc.)
  16. Heard that there is a possiblity that Area contest (at least for area c) will be moved to Monday because of rain. Any updates/opinions on this? Not sure if it's true, just a rumor.
  17. I think this contest is very tight at the moment, I'm honestly not sure how it could go, any ideas? These are the bands: Azle Boswell Brewer Chisholm Trail Denton Saginaw Wichita Falls Rider Wichita Falls Azle and Boswell are the traditional powers from this area, but I think it's much more competitive than years past with the addition of Saginaw high and the emergence of Chisholm Trail, and Rider, both of which have been playing LIGHTS OUT this year with tough shows, it could truly be anyone's trip to state this year, thoughts?
  18. The UIL Area B Marching Competitions is coming up. Who do you see doing well?
