  1. Congratulations to Irion County on the gold!! Saw some clips from this contest, these smaller bands are really doing some impressive work. Congratulations to everyone who competed today!!
  2. SACHSE!!! Congratulations to Sachse, Waxahachie, Forney and Duncanville on advancing to state!! Absolutely heart-broken for those kids at Rockwall, I really wish they could have taken 5, but it's just how these comps be sometimes. And to Sachse, wow, if they get one of the good slots, they could place very well.....maybe finals? Idk, but either way congratulations to everyone who competed here today!!
  3. hoping for a 6-way tie for fourth!!
  4. yeah, pretty sure they're just waiting for the DM's to walk on, happened earlier for state
  5. Thats a state worthy performance from Sachse right there!! Been super strong all season long, love the troopers opener, such a rich and dark sound from the low brass going into the opening hit!! Mando theme is played so well, making a basic piece so complex with the WW and brass technical runs, each note clearly being heard. Great use of the Yellowstone theme for the ballad. Visually very clean, great work from the soloists all around, guard was on point as well, great job Sachse!!

  11. Okay everyone, here is my guess at finals!! I think a lot of these bands, especially the top half, are pretty interchangeable, and it's really gonna come down to the small details the judges noticed. Everyone was fantastic today, and to all the bands that competed at this contest both today and yesterday, congratulations on ya'lls amazing seasons, and thank you for entertaining us with some super awesome shows!! 1. Cedar Park 2.Rouse 3. Leander 4. Wakeland 5. Aledo 6. Lone Star 7. Argyle 8. Mckinney North 9. Hendrickson 10. Friendswood 11. Roma 12. Burleson Centennial
  12. yeah, but they're technically not supposed to until after finals per UIL regulations, and the Mods don't want anyone getting in trouble, that's all!
  13. LEANDER!!! They have come so far this season, and you can tell they are determined to do well later in the season (IYKY!)!! Great opening hit, such a big and fun sound, they really bring out the emotional part of the music to get you in a groovy mood!! Great stuff from the trumpet quartet in the second movement, and omg that ballad, SO beautiful, that flugelhorn solo just gives me chills! Really big sounds in the closer, those Mellos killed those sustains, and they do such a great job brining it all together with the change of the lens in the smaller sunglasses props. Visually super clean, they are having such a blast performing this show, amazing job Leander!!
  14. Holy Cow Aledo!!! It's been so awesome seeing this program have such a huge comeback from last season, and they came in this season with Imo their strongest show ever!!! Love the huge opener, so much sound. The use of the track props in the second movement adds so much effect with all the racing sounds going on, great work on the cover downs. Really great sound in the ballad, and the Trombones in the closer, give me more!!! Visually super clean, just been awesome seeing them improve so much over the season with such an amazing show, wonderful job Aledo!!
  15. Yeah....I think they've defended their title...again!! So much going on all the time, and it's all SO SO CLEAN!! Awesome preshow drill going into that big hit, that's so strong, so rich and so controlled. Ballad was just so emotional, amazing work from the Trombone soloist and WW"s going into the big hit, and then it's just a wall of sound. Love the Barber brass feature going into the closer, where they just tear the walls down. I'm super excited to see how they do at Nat's because they have some real potential to shock the world, and also next weekend. Just such an amazing show that they are executing on another level, fantastic performance Cedar Park, can't wait to see the rest of your season!!
  16. UMMMM ROUSE, HELLO?!?! I don't have many words for what I just witnessed, holy cow!! Opening hit was just so rich with sound, and the preshow visuals, SO CLEAN!! The brass quintet, unreal, they are playing like professionals in a state symphony. That ballad was just so freaking powerful, and the closer, WOW. Drill was so so clean; I mean holy crap Rouse. We'll see what happens tonight, but I'm just shocked by what I just heard and saw, they are gonna be coming in HOT this weekend, amazing job Rouse!!
  17. Thank you, Lone Star, for giving us the opportunity to enjoy this show!! The growth of this program over the past few seasons has been extraordinary, and this year was no different. Super clean stuff from the WW's going into the opening hit, which was SO powerful!! That ballad has made me so emotional all season long, and today was no different. That trombone soloists were on point all season long, and the whole T-bone choir was just so beautiful. Visually as clean as it could have been, really great work on the cover downs, and a super strong finish. They have become one of my favorite HS marching bands, with the quality of not only the shows but the performers themselves increasing each year. Amazing performance Lonestar!!
  18. Wow Wakeland, just wow. This was by far their cleanest run, beyond impressive stuff. Visually so pleasing, I don't know how, but I am just now noticing the stick figures throughout in the drill, but I mean that drill was just so perfect. Unbelievable marching technique, just so satisfying to watch them move. Musically such a mature presence, really controlled sound with plenty of dynamic contrast. Soloists were amazing, that sax in the ballad is just chef's kiss. It might not be everyone's favorite Wakeland show, but it's definitely grown on me personally throughout the season and has such a great message. Definitely put up a fight for a medal, fantastic job Wakeland!!
  19. YES MCNINNEY NORTH!!! That run was just about as perfect as it could have been, WOW!! First off, that singer is just top notch, hitting some super high notes like its nothing!! All around, soloists were just insane. Super clean sounds from the entire ensemble, such a big presence but they play so controlled. Visually super clean, and plenty of effect with the high knees and other visual bodywork. Just goosebumps from start to finish, so entertaining, so, SO clean. Congratulations on being the first Mckinney ISD school on making state finals, super well deserved, and we will definitely be seeing them around for a while, WHAT A SHOW!!!
  20. Great stuff from Burleson Centennial!! Love me some How to Train Your Dragons music, and they perform it so well! I do wish they had just a little more power in the ensemble as a whole, but they are still doing good for their size. PERCUSSION, MY GOODNESS! Too no surprise they are cracked, I mean holy clean! Plenty of variety in dark and light music to help bring out the themes in the different parts of the show. Lovely flute duet in the ballad, so so pretty! Great visual work throughout, and a super solid showing, amazing job BC!!
  21. Super strong performance from Hendrickson!! Love the visual preshow, adds so much depth to the show going into the big hit!! Really great stuff from the WW's going into the second movement! Gosh the ballad is just so pretty, really solid work from the Euph soloists. So much visual demand throughout that really just brings the show together. Great work from the battery, plenty of showcasing that they nailed. Great closing visual that brings it all together. Great job Hendrickson!!
  22. ARGLY!!! Our second Texas band here going to GN's and their first time at 5A state, and they're already in finals, and so well deserved!!! I can't explain how much I love this show, it's such a "simple" design yet they make it so much more. First off, soloists were just wow. That Tenor should be super proud of herself, and for such a small battery they do so well! Such a big and mature ensemble sound, tons of great moments throughout the brass and woodwinds. That ballad is just so beautiful, brought some tears to my eyes, such great work from the Trombone. Visually very clean, tons of picture moments throughout. So much effect with the big photographer running around throughout, just such an emotionally powerful show, amazing job Argyle!! They are here to stick around
  23. Really strong showing from Roma!! They really seem to have found their stride, because this band has really stepped it up these past couple seasons!! Plenty of visual references of different forms of the Moon throughout. Soloists were so on point, really mature sounds. They really pack a punch with that sound, really strong brass, and lots of clear sounds during the technical runs from both the brass and WW's. Really fun show and they performed so well, congrats on an amazing season Roma!!
