Okay so apparently I just don’t know anything lol 😂😂 Congrats to Rockwall and KC!!! Wasn’t expecting Rock Hill and East to miss, nor not any of the McKinney schools, but well deserved regardless!! Tonight’s going to be insane, congratulations to everyone who competed this morning. Probably just gonna do a full recap after finals so I can just enjoy, gl tonifht everyone!! Also sorry for ever doubting Wylie, had a feeling they’d get in regardless of my thoughts

Okay, just got access to the sight lol, here’s my finals predictions, remember I’m not a judge, literally guessing at this point. I define it of presentation of the story and connecting to the audience. I’m probably completely wrong about Wylie, I just didn’t personally feel their show, but they looked and sounded amazing regardless!

I’m sorry but I don’t understand Liberty 😭😭 they weren’t bad but there were definitely 12 better bands for sure

Wylie HS- Come Together: Amazing performance from Wylie to close out our prelims competition!! Amazing opening sound, though did think they’d be a little louder for their size, though I’m in the upper half of the stadium so that may be why. Visual was my highlight from them, so clean, and they’ve got some super cool drill and body movements!! Plenty of visuals for GE, though musically I struggled to follow at times. It’ll be really close for them, but an amazing performance from that Wylie Band!!

They were 5A last year and 2A here, so plenty of 5A bands are 2A, which is why I’m asking, wish Boa would at least tell us somewhere, but I understand why they don’t

Walnut Grove HS- The Winding Road: WOW WANUT GROVE!!! I see why they did so well at MMI, because they were amazing! Really strong first impact, great sounds for their size!! Lovely soloist, those flirts were just wonderful in the ballad! Clean drill, and plenty of GE in it as well! They’ve already come leaps and bounds from last season, and will soon be a threat to reckon with, amazing job Walnut Grove!!!

Everyone thought they were but they were 2A last season here

Waller HS-trailblaze: Great stuff from Waller! Brass had a very good presence and they are playing some hard licks pretty clean! Visually, they’ve got some ways to go, but still some solid moments. Good soloists, and a great show all around, good job Waller!!

It’s Waller lol 😂 never thought I’d hear them be called Loller, but I understand why that’s what you heard

Very good, could seem them in finals! The best the band probably has ever been!!

Coweta HS- EXOPLANET: Cool show from out final out of state band!!! Good presence for their size, though I feel they could pup out a little more. Great soloists, guard had some solid moments, super cool tenor solo. Great job Coweta!

Does anyone know if Walnut Grove is 2A again??

North Mesquite HS- submerged: Lovely showing from NM! Big fan of Niagara Falls and they played it so well!! Amazing soloists throughout, flute and Clarinet did so well in the ballad!! Pretty solid visually, some cleaning, but I think with enough of it, they could come out on top at Area C, would definitely be surprised if they don’t make state. Great job Big Blue!!

Liberty HS-Panem: great performance from Liberty!! Unfortunately, the wind is causing more prop problems, but they had some alternates save some! Vocalist added some nice GE, great soloist and they have a good sound for their size! Some strong guard moments, and visually some cool writing. Definitely put up a chance at 2A champs, great job Liberty!

Braswell HS- down by the river side: WHAT A FUN SHOW!!! Despite the wind causing prop issues, these kids perused!! That trumpet soloist, Holy Smokes!!! Really great sounds, though I do think they could be a little louder at times, especially when there’s no solo/feature happening. Visually very clean, and tons of GE, musically and visuals! Those kids were having a great time and the audience ate that show up. Made a very strong case for finals, amazing job Braswell!!

Wakeland HS-where the heart is: Love me some Wakeland magic, and that’s what they brought!! Amazing pre show into the opening statement! Wow, just such mature sounds, they really play like an indoor concert ensemble. Lovely soloists throughout, that Sax player, simply majestic! Visually, they are ridiculously clean, per the norm. Super excited and interested to see where they land tonight, will be a threat at state fs, wonderful job Wakeland!!

Grapevine HS- Codiwhompple: Great stuff Grapevine! Very interesting show, cool theme but they are executing well! Great soloists all around, and they are killing the marching, see why they won visual last weekend in AA! Lovely soloist in the ballad, good sounds from the ensemble, just need to clean. GE throughout, love the bike. Will see how Coweta and Liberty are but could definitely be our AA champs, great job Grapevine!

McKinney North- Open Mic: North once again laying it down with their jazz shows, and boy were those mics on!! Soloists were definitely the stars of the show, feels at times they are relied on to much, but I see why they have them up there so much, bc WOW they are on fire!! Great sounds from the ensemble, tons of individual requirements visually they are nailing, great marching technique! GE is ofc off the charts, and while I don’t know how to judge that type of show, they may have earned a second performance, at least I think. They will be super strong come area, amazing job MN!!

Rock Hill HS-Message in a bottle: you can tell they feel at home bc that run is as lights out!! Great sounds from the low brass into the opening hit! Lovely flute duet, wow they’ve really cleaned up!! Tons of visual ge in the second movement. Excellent soloist in the ballad, loved how the flutes are now in the bottle, great GE. Love the new stuff, those woodwinds are going crazy on these runs, super effective ending with the guard member running through the wave the band has created!! Amazing performance rock hill, I expect them to continue their Boa finals streak!
