Whitesboro HS-where the dust settles: great stuff from the 2023 UIL 3A gold medalist!!! That flute soloist was amazing all show, some really difficult passages those WW’s were nailing, and the brass was present! Great flute quartet in the ballad, and they’ve got a good sound for their size!! Should be another very successful year for them at state, possibly back to back! Amazing job Whitesboro!!

I’m on the upper half, plenty of seating on the 50 up here!!

LD Bell HS- Color Theory: Great performance from Bell!! Great stuff from the WW quarter into the opener! Love the different shades of music throughout the 2nd movement, lovely work from the different soloist. Ballad was super beautiful, and that ending was just spectacular, T-bones are on fire!! Visually much cleaner than last weekend, though still some work to do. Hope they can clean those tarps bc the dirt on them is pretty obvious. Great run from Bell, love how the show is coming together!!

Pretty common for parents to leave after their band, especially if they’ve got other stuff to do like eat or not be in this heat 😂

Lake Ridge HS-Olympia: Great stuff for Lake Ridge!!! Really good sound from the trumpets in the pre show! Brass is showing out, especially those Mellos! Some hard licks they are nailing! Lovely Bassoon soloist in the ballad, love the muscle suit on the one member presenting himself to the Gods in the back on their thrones! Lots of box forms, and they did pretty good on their cover downs with minimal misses. Plenty of GE, definitely underestimated them, my apologies 😂 should do very well at Area this year, amazing job Lake Ridge!!

Bentonville HS- Black Sheep: B-VILLE JUST SHOWED OUT!!!!! Amazing start with the tubas into the brass feature into the full band hit!!! Such a big yet controlled sound, wow!!! They sound unreal, that percussion feature was 🔥🔥🔥Tough mic issues in the ballad that they mostly fixed, huge and beautiful ensemble sound in the hit. Super fun jam feature, great work bones, amazing closer!! Idk bout yall, but I think they might be closer to 1st then we expect, that’s all, not trying to indicate placements or anything. WOW Bentonville, just simply blown away, see you tonight!!!

Keller Central HS- another time, another place: MUCH improved from KC from Bedford!!! Great pre show into the opening hit!! Brass is killing those licks: Mellos, we hear you!!! Really lovely ballad, trumpet and flute soloists were great! I do still think they need some more cleaning, especially marching wise, some challenging drill at times. Still great performance overall KC!!

Yeah you guys were fantastic, really hoping for a second performance!!

Wylie East HS- the next step: So ummm I don’t think they were happy about Conroe, bc OMG East!!! Opening hit was wow!!! Such amazing sounds all around, so mature and controlled but they have such a presence!! Super cool accordion solo, and that ballad was awesome!!! Beautiful work from the Trumpet and Bone soloists, super cool effect moving the stair stages together. Very clean visually, and could definitely see them again tonight, they were not messing around, really cool show! Incredible job East!!!

Marcus HS- In a New Light: Unreal. Classic Marcus things right there. Amazing opening hit, such consistent and controlled sounds. So much musical demand throughout, and they make it seem so easy. Soloists putting on a masterclass, and that percussion, don’t get me started. Visually so clean, and super effective writing. That ballad was just melting faces, interesting ending, obviously not done, but yeah I think we’ve our winners 😂😂 they still play like an indoor ensemble, and oh that guard, UNREAL!!! Amazing job Marcus!!

Rockwall HS- Valor and Virtue: Great performance Rockwall!! Great stuff from the trumpets in the Festive Overture!! Lovely sounds from the C-net and WW’s during the rest of the Overture. Really love how they use the props to tell the story of the show, allowing us to feel the dark energy of Mars. Super cool drill with the moving box, very effective. Beautiful soloists in the ballad, and that closer was super cool, really effective drill. If anything hurts them it’ll be GE, but this is a really strong UIL show, could see them at state for sure, just gotta clean. Amazing job Rockwall!!

Jenks HS- pixelated: YES Jenks!!! Super cool drill in the opener as the band comes together into the opening statement! Unfortunate electronic issues they thankfully got fixed. Really great sounds all around, though I feel like they could use some more volume at times. Really challenging stuff from the guard with some unfortunate drops but they can definitely clean tonight, assuming they make it, but they still had some amazing moments. Plenty of GE throughout, though sometimes sometimes hard to follow. Really great showing, these out of state programs aren’t playing around, amazing job Jenks!!

Azle HS- between the keys: Great stuff Azle! Super solid sounds from the front ensemble going into the opening hit! They are brining that sound. I love so much how they are going between pieces in the second movement, brining music GE and the theme alive. Lovely sounds from the Clarinet soloist in the ballad. Their guard has built off their WGI season and shining bright. Solid showing all around, end still needs some cleaning, but still an amazing performance from Azle!

Southlake Carroll-Aquarium: Great stuff SLC!! Much improved from Bedford! Those WW’s are killing those licks going into the opening brass hit which is super powerful. Plenty of visual ge throughout the second movement, some demanding stuff for sure. Beautiful sounds from that Flugelhorn horn soloist, really pretty work. Percussion feature was clean, great presence from them. Really fun show with so many details, and they are executing well, great job Dragon band!!

Mustang HS-Surely you Jest: OH. MY. GOSH Mustang just blew us away, holy cow!!! Love the pre show drill, super entertaining. Amazing sounds, super mature, well blended and just rich. Visually, they are insane. SO MUCH individual demand with a high amount of body work and some super challenging drill that they make look easy. I mean wow wow wow!!! Soloists were incredible all around, that ballad was just beautiful, amazing presence brass. Guard was also great, but this show is just loaded with GE, felt like I was watching a Nats finalist band. We will be seeing you tonight Mustang, fantastic performance!!!

McKinney Boyd- Awakening: Great stuff from the Flugelhorn soloists and WW’s going into the opening hit! Wow, such mature ensemble sounds, great stuff y’all! Super cool drill with the rotating circle with that guard soloists who killed it. Great showcasing of the different sections. Lovely work from the soloists in the ballad, such flowing sounds. Visually pretty clean, some minor things but still really impressive. Only up to their ballad today but still wonderful stuff, great job Bronco band!!

McKinney HS-Poured Lines: Ummmm McKinney, HELLO?!?!? My goodness that brass is Insane!! So loud but so controlled and super mature sounds, I was not ready for that opening hit!!! Guard was just so good, no surprise considering their WGI success, front and center, and they are killing it! Flugelhorn soloist, I could listen to you for days, such pretty sounds. Great stuff from the Trombones throughout with the couple of jam sessions, and that percussion, so clean. So much GE throughout with the painted tarps the roll out during the ballad, and visually super solid, really cool body work throughout. Very high finalist potential, they did not come to play like my goodness, amazing performance McKinney!! Watch out area J

Lonestar-The Other Side: That’s how you get after it Lonestar!!! Already so much cleaner than last weekend! Great dark sounds from those bass clarinets and WW’s going into that powerful opening hit, shacking the stadium! This is probably the cleanest LS guard ever! They are exposed so much and doing super well, wow. The ballad had people in tears, that Trombone Choir is unreal. Just such great flow musically and visually throughout the show. Amazing soloists all around, visually much cleaner, tons of visual ge. Just such an amazing performance, wonderful job Lonestar!

Prosper HS- Out of The Box: Well good morning Prosper!!! Lovely sounds from our Flute and Clarinet soloists going into the big hit, which is rich of sound! Wow what a sound they are producing! Couple sickouts in the brass into the release, but very small. They are so spread out throughout yet sound like 1. Visually, ridiculously clean, so much expanding drill which requires so much detail they are just nailing. That ballad, so so clean, amazing oboe soloist. Percussion was heard, great feature. Plenty of visual GE with the members popping out of their visuals, will be a great show for grand nats (hopefully finals). Amazing job Prosper, see yall tongiht!!

Commerce HS- Game On!: Loved the pre show with the different box sounds, adds some nice GE to get us started! Great opening hit. Plenty of showcasing of the brass and woodwinds throughout the second movement, woodwinds killing those difficult passages. Lovely ballad, great staging of the basses behind the gaming controllers in different poses to add some nice visual GE. Amazing sounds from the bone solo in the end, and a great performance overall, amazing job Commerce!

Washington HS- Nightmare on Sesame Street: Our first band today is one of our out of staters, happy to have you here today Washington! Such a cool show!! Really dark sounds, definitely something you’d expect from this type of show! Good presence for their size, sax soloists was super good, super awesome drum feature! Pretty strong visually, and loved the angry big bird. Great performance to get us started, amazing job Washington!

Good morning everyone!!!! We are here live at children’s heath stadium in Prosper Texas!!! I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I was last year, feels like yesterday. Honored is an understatement for how lucky we are to be witnessing such an insane lineup, undoubtedly the strongest regional comp this year, at least imo 😂 Good luck to everyone again, go drop the hammer today!!! And to all the out of state programs, thank you so much for coming down to Texas, hope you enjoy your stay!! We’ll be starting here shortly with Washington HS from Oklahoma!
