  1. Well first off, UIL is later in the season compared to most of the Tx regionals, meaning more rehearsals and time to polish and clean, which is obviously a major factor in a good performance. I personally feel like we see the bands who are successful at one be at the other, with the consistent regional/SR finalist, especially for 6A, being those we see make finals at state. Of course, you'll have some that make finals at one not at the other due to some bands not being at both, but I think the biggest variation being that some bands simply have better runs that those consistent regional finalists at area. Performance quality is the biggest part in making finals at any type of comp, but it's something that UIL focuses more heavily on with not having any GE judging until state, if you really count that
  2. I feel like UIL focuses mainly on how clean everything is. Of course there's specifics they are looking for, that list is very long, but I'd say it's pretty close to what the 4 music and visual judges look for, but it's hard to tell for these bands specifically since most of their first UIL scored comp is normally area. I don't think too much would change placement wise, maybe some small things, but you could just add up the music and visual overall scores and make the bands total score out of 40 to see how rankings would be.
  3. I like to think of GE of how well the students connect with the judges and the audience through the music and the drill. While, as you have stated, some of it depends on props and uniforms, I'd say most of its kids from the kids and the design of the show. I always recall to Reagan 2019, who had almost no props, yet their GE score was insanely high. Why, because they were able to bring out the ideas and concepts of the show to live through how well the executed the show. Does this make it easier for larger bands, yes. Do I think you need a lot of props and custom uniforms to have a lot of GE, not at all!
  4. Can't wait for Prosper! Super excited to see what Rockwall's been cooking!
  5. Congrats on doing so well!! Hope yall have a great rest of your season!!
  6. Mustang is on a roll in the Oklahoma comps and should do very well here, Jenks as well. This is Bentonville's first comp this season but they are extremely strong and have built off of last season! Haven't seen Washington or Coweta but am expecting great things from them as well. There's a YT video of Jenks, haven't been able to find anything but clips of the other 2.
  7. Well, everyone, this absolute nightmare of a contest is finally upon us. Very fortunate to be attending live and getting to see all these awesome out of state bands coming down, as well as our awesome Tx groups!! While we've definitely got some undoubted locks for finals, I'd say anything after 8th is anyone's game. Another comp where so many heavy hitters will be left out. It's going to be an insane battle for finals, and I can't wait to see how things shake out. But, with that being said, here are my final predictions. I've got my list, as well as bands I think are really fighting to get into those last couple spots: 1st. Marcus (sweep) 2nd. Wakeland 3rd. Bentonville 4th. Mustang 5th. Prosper 6th. Jenks 7th. Lonestar 8th. L.D. Bell 9th. Wylie 10th. Southlake Carrol 11th. Rock Hill 12th. Mckinney North/ Braswell Last couple: Rockhill, MN, Braswell, Azle, Wylie East, Walnut Grove?, Mckinney, Boyd, Central A. 1st. Whitesboro-sweep 2nd. Washington 3rd.. Commerce AA. 1st. Walnut Grove- music/ge 2nd. Coweta 3rd. Grapevine-visual AAA. 1st. Wakeland-sweep 2nd. Lonestar 3rd. MN/Azle AAAA. 1st. Marcus-sweep 2nd. Bentonville 3rd. Mustang Hope everyone has an amazing week of rehearsal in prep for this comp! Can't wait to see what everyone's been cooking!
  8. I have a feeling McKinney North will still be in, but after seeing how everyone else is doing, I’d say they’re gonna have to fight a lot harder for state. This area beyond insane in depth, it’s by far the most competitive it’s ever been simply because we haven’t ever had so many state level programs all at once. I think Wakeland and Lonestar are still 1 and 2, and that only changes if there’s some random band run or something. And then, there’s literally everyone else. I don’t even want to make predictions bc Ik they’re gonna be wrong, and with this content being so far away, there’s plenty of time for cleaning. Maybe after regions I’ll drop something, idk, we’ll have a better look after next weekend with some bands competing at prosper or Birdville. I believe anything can happen, I’d love for some new faces, but we could see the same 4 as last year go as well, would love to be here but I’ve got a game that weekend. This is a bloodbath of an area
  9. And then we have a crazy about of shifting from prelims to finals. Keller 12th to 8th, Southlake from 7th to 11th, pretty sure Flomo and Hebron were the only bands who didn’t move up or down lol
  10. Congratulations to Pearland on the win!!! Need to find some videos of finals to see what happened, but I'm just supper happy for them. Definitely some wild results all around but wasn't there so idk. Congratulations all the bands who competed here!
  11. Congratulations to McNeil on the win! Haven't see their show yet but base on how San Marcos went, not at all surprised to see them on top!
  12. Just got out of the shower lol, so sorry for the delayed response Congratulations to Hebron on getting the 3-peat!! Scores were super closed as expected, will be super tight between Flomo and Hebron all season long, and I'm guessing Marcus whenever they show up. Great stuff from TC, looking like a potential medalist at St Louis?? We'll see how they do next weekend, but I'm expecting a great season from them. Really excited to see how those that were here going to prosper do, will drop my final preds for that soon. Amazing job again to everyone, and thanks for the awesome day of performances!!
  13. Like Heritage after doing so well didn’t even make finals??? I just don’t understand what’s going on rn in marching band lmao, so many crazy results today, even in boa
  14. Hello Walnut Grove!!! Guys idk what to think of how Area B is gonna shake out. Reedy just got 2nd at Wylie in front of Lebanon and now this, what is going on today 😭😭😭 Anyways congrats to Pearce on the win, looks like we need to keep an eye on them at area C, especially seeing how they beat Rockwall 👀👀
  15. Wakeland, i apologize for every doubting or thinking you guys were on a different level this season, yall are still the Wakeland we all know and love 😂 Anyways, everyone was amazing! Scores are gonna be super tight, especially in the top half. So many performances showing they wanted to place well, bands giving their all, it was just a magical night. Thank you to everyone for all those amazing performances, had such a blast here, can’t believe it’s already over 😭Anyways, here’s my predictions (going to get them all wrong 😂): Flower Mound- visual/GE Hebron-music Wakeland Coppell Timber Creek Waxahachie Keller LD Bell Lone Star Southlake Carrol Aledo Rock Hill
  16. REEDY!!! Super happy to see them do so well, great job Mr. Heuer!!! Reedy could honestly do some damage at area, maybe state 🤷‍♂️ either way congrats to everyone!!
  17. If this is reverse prelims, big congrats to north Mesquite!!
  18. Thanks bro! Hope you have fun tonight!!
  19. Finally got service to the site. Congrats to all our finalist! 11-12, a little surprised about Forney but big ups to Rock Hill, very well deserved! I might be posting for finals, if not I’ll do something after I get home
  20. Amazing job @clarinetistkai05 and the UNT band!!! Fantastic performance! Now we wait
  21. Well, what an amazing prelims! Congratulations again to all the bands that performed this morning/afternoon, finals is gonna be insane. But for those who want to know, here are my prediction (keep in mind I’m not a judge): A: Krum(sweep) AA: 1st. Argyle (sweep) 2nd. Lovejoy 3rd. Grapevine AAA: 1st. Lonestar (music/ge) 2nd. Wakeland (visual) 3rd. Aledo AAAA 1st Hebron (music/ge tie) 2nd Flomo (visual/ge tie) 3rd Coppell or Bell Finalist (random order) Flomo Hebron Wakeland Southlake Aledo Coppell Keller LD Bell Lonestar Forney Waxahachie Timber Creek Really strong shot: Rock Hill, Argyle, Central, Azle
  22. Hebron- Amorphous: So um yeah, what you’d expect from Hebron. Ridiculous playing, amazing marching, I mean wow. I will admit, some of the music selections don’t feel like “Hebron music” imo, but regardless an insane musical performance, will be really close between them and Flomo tonight, amazing job Hebron!!!
  23. I just feel like Lone Stars show had more GE. I could see it going either way but yeah
  24. Trinity- a color in a crowd: really great stuff from Trinity! They have a great presence, lots of great musical moments. Theme was present throughout, lots of visual GE, and the uniform thing was cool. I honestly feel like if they clean they have a shot at area finals. Amazing job Trinity!
