I wouldn't say 1-2 spots is so much lower. The Colony def could place higher, just my guess as to where I think they'll land

I don’t really use Boa to much when predicting area. It’s completely different scoring systems. They aren’t necessary looking for the same things. Of course the music and visual judges is a little bit closer, but it’s definitely not as specific as BOA and the UIL judges have more responsibilities since the art split up into individual and ensemble captions

I'm just basing it off how Lebanon tends to do come area. in 2019, they were 4th at WMI, only to win area. In 2021, they were 5th at WMI, and then made state, and in 2023, were 4th, only to go on to make state finals. They are always super clean and locked in come area, which is why I don't really use past competitions to must, especially since WMI will have been 3 weeks before this comp, but like you said, anything's is possible

Amazing lineup!! Super happy everyone gets two performances, really lets these bands get more and new feedback between prelims and finals, would definitely be going if I didn’t have a game this day, it’s gonna be a great time for those going!!

I’d say they’ll probably be in the first 5 out if they don’t make finals. Definitely not as strong as last year, but they’re still a solid program that could possibly take that final spot, won’t be easy though

I think Krum makes state this year 🙃

They will also be at the Ducanville Marching comp next Saturday, so we’ll have a good and fresh look at them going into area !

I’d say Boswell is up there, they’re having a pretty good season. Midlothian did very good at POC, but that’s the only comp they’ve had so it’s kinda hard to tell. Maybe Hutto? Yes they made Austin finals, but a lot of regular finalist were missing, but they did pretty well at the Vista Ridge comp. I’d say those are probably my first 3 out, but anything can happen with a really good run from any of these groups.

Oh 100%, I’d definitely say the 12th-10th range would be very possible!!

When I first came across this site, Boa and DCI for the first time after my sophomore year of HS, I think the best way was looking at past results, specifically Hornrank. They make it sooo easy to look at all the past boa comps, and many local circuit comps have historic results on their websites. YouTube is always great for finding past seasons performances, which you can then try to compare across recent years to find an upwards/downwards trends of programs, though there are many reasons for that (director changes, better/worse show designs, more overall talented kids, Ect..). Going through past forms on here is always great, but it's definitely a lot considering how many programs there are competing in Texas, which we all know is a lot, but then you even have the out-of-state programs

Definitely possible, just with their current trends, I don't think it's gonna be as easy for them to, but if they bring it anything's possible

I feel like its almost impossible to make anywhere close to accurate predictions for this comp at this point. Pretty much everyone has been doing well in this area, with many programs having their best season yet. I don't even think I'm gonna make a list, and just do guesses minus top 2. Ik some bands beat others at comps, but we have to remember all of these bands have had plenty of time to clean, but I don't think those comps mean nothings. With pretty much everyone done minus region till Area for 5A, here's my guess at this one: 1st. Wakeland 2nd. Lonestar 3rd-8th in random order: Argyle, Reedy, Mckinney North, Walnut Grove, Emerson, The Colony, Lebanon Trial, Last Two: Independence/Memorial/Lovejoy/Heritage At this point, it's going to come down to whose got the better runs the day of, and ofc the judges. A lot of contenders for the last few spots have earlier draw times, which I feel has more of an impact than some other contest, so brining your A game will be key here. This is one of if not the most competitive version of this area, and it's going to be an insane race for those last two spots!!

I'd switch Wylie with Waxahachie and you've got my list, anything is possible though, would love to see Wylie in top 3. Gonna be a heck of a contest

Id say HP is more in the 4th-6th range. Got beat by Poteet and Kaufman yesterday, and north has a really strong show. If they’re taking 3 to state it’ll probably be them, with HP, WM, Red Oak and LC battling to get in

super excited to be doing this again and then for state! Hoping we get to host again next year, would be really nice for my final season being in a marching band, which is crazy to think about. We've got a ton of surprises in our show, plus super excited to see some of the bands here, many for the first time!!

Plenty of great stuff downtown and in the area! Health Camp, Union Hall, Viteks BBQ, plenty more
