If that team was already up by enough before the penalty it wouldn't matter. Here Waxahachie could have been in first place and then was disqualified. It would make more sense to give an ordinal penalty. Maybe one ordinal for each second or something like that. I know that's arbitrary but would be more fair. The coach him or herself will tell you, a game is not won or lost on just one penalty. They’ll likely say we should’ve never been in that situation in the first place to allow it to be perceived that the penalty caused the loss. The penalty should be way less severe UIL is historically hard-nosed with penalties. I don't ever remember them changing their minds, regardless of who it is.
