Just like the eight minute maximum performance time rule, the maximum ten years retired rule has been much more strictly enforced for several years now.
    It was long overdue.

And a Big Texas Smile for the return of cymbal lines and baton twirlers. 😁

Rowdy, The Roadrunner! Absolute perfection. What could possibly be more representative of the spirit of Texas Marching Band attitude?

I watched on a Facebook/Instagram Live. They sounded and performed better than Area B Finals in my opinion.  Going first is tough, but they gave a great performance all things considered.

That would be interesting. Maybe some bands would attempt to obtain each trophy at some point in time. Like a career grand slam in tennis or becoming an EGOT winner.

if we get support from UTSA - it will be named Rowdy - their mascot - but we are committed to making this happen with our without the UTSA support

That's actually an amazing idea and a great way to honor the previous (and future) SASR champions, can't imagine anyone at BOA objecting to it. Props to the CTJ people for getting the ball rolling on this!

So I have seen a number of comments this year about a Texas Trophy for the winner of BOA San Antonio.
The Bands of Claudia Taylor Johnson Foundation and the CTJ Band Parents Assc. serve as the host program of the BOA San Antonio Super Regional.  While it will not happen this year, the bands of CTJ Foundation has made the request to MFA/BOA to create a traveling trophy similar to the grand nationals eagle (Kevin) Trophy.
I hope that we can have this in place for next years BOA San Antonio Super Regional.
I have heard a number of suggestions for the trophy to include the "armadillo" and the "road runner" - there is interest in UTSA in sponsoring the Texas Road Runner trophy but I will keep you all posted as this develops.
It would be my intent that, that the trophy would recognize the previous winners of BOA San Antonio since it became a Super Regional on November 1st 2003 (FYI - San Antonio was the first Super Regional). those would include the following
2003 - Westfield 2004 - Reagan 2005 - Reagan 2006 - LD Bell 2007 - Marcus 2008 - LD Bell 2009 - LD Bell 2010 - Marcus 2011 - LD Bell 2012 - Marcus 2013 - The Woodlands 2014 - Claudia Taylor Johnson 2015 - Flower Mound 2016 - Flower Mound 2017 - Claudia Taylor Johnson 2018 - Flower Mound 2019 - Reagan 2020 - Cancelled due to Covid 2021 - Hebron once we have support of MFA/BOA, we will create a poll to decide the name of the trophy - including the nickname of the trophy - FYI - the Woodlands is credited with naming the Eagle as Kevin after hosting him in 2013.
    welcome your thoughts.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.  People underestimate Keller pretty much every year.

Agree except with Timber. Their show is definitely way way more heavy for UIL than boa

Waxahachie beat TC by one ordinal and Keller by 2, so it was very close.  I think all three have a good shot at finals here with a great run.

I was actually debating between Waxahachie and Timber Creek for that final spot. I think Keller and Timber Creek are both peaking at the right time but I won't be surprised if Waxahachie gets in finals either.

I agree with most of what you said except for the Timber Creek part. I believe their show is extremely UIL as shown by BOA DFW and then later at Area B. Keller also placed higher than them in BOA but was beaten out by them in Area.

Lucas Oil and downtown Indianapolis were specifically set up for the Grand Nationals. I can't think of another city that is more logistically appropriate for it. Where else do you have indoor facilities where you can practice and warm up that is large enough to fit an entire football field? If I remember correctly, there are four rooms that big. And the acoustics are much better as well.

They placed 15th last year, so with 14 going to finals, they’ll certainly be in the conversation.

No question about it. Lately bands that miss Finals here routinely make Finals in Indianapolis a week later.

Now I don't have data at my fingertips or anything, but I reckon 15 hours and 18 minutes is the largest time between performances on the same day? Hats off to Pecos!

I am so incredibly proud of my friends over at Keller, after all of the difficulties finding their footing all season long, they finally proved why they are one of the best. So incredibly glad this show gets to be performed tonight 💙
