  1. Probably DFW area kids who mainly know the local schools.
  2. I guess it's different strokes for different folks. I never cared much about the size of the audience when I performed. Knowing my mom was watching me and that I was performing with my friends was all I needed. Besides I'd rather have 10 people watching who would actually want to watch than 100 people who were being forced out of courtesy to watch.
  3. It's almost like they're there to support their own kids.
  4. This is all pretty useless conjecture considering the two won't be competing against each other this year. Less than a week before Johnson will compete with bands on the same level so we'll see then.
  5. Yes, that is today's date.
  6. I'm sorry, I didn't realize football players are unable to play without the band there. If it's such an important "school activity" for the band to be there, then maybe almost all of the stands shouldn't be allowed to bail during halftime when the band performs.
  7. Exactly. Wishing great showings for both. I can't wait to see what everyone puts on.
  8. And the year prior to that Round Rock was in SA and State Finals while Cedar Ridge wasn't. A lot can change in a year.
  9. Ok. Almost all the bands at San Antonio are from Texas so it's even less diverse than nationals. Maybe if more Southern groups come to SA then this could be considered.
  10. Because then it's not a national title.
  11. Well this time it's not by chance.
  12. Agreed. Leander's in particular was unintelligible to me. It will be fun to see everyone live.
  13. I already have. You're really underestimating how much a group can improve. Not saying it's easy to make SA finals but we shouldn't judge harshly before the first contest has even begun.
  14. Ah. I knew it was some school that made me think why he just didn't teach there.
  15. If you ask me Itll probably be the same as last year, but westwood could suprise the field.
  16. Don't, this year was intentionally less competitive and more just a break from their usual schedule. They actually had a very enjoyable season. Not everything is numbers and placements in the thick of things.
  17. And that band will be from LISD.
  18. They'll place higher than what anyone here predicts them to be. Constantly underrated.
  19. I'd replace CTJ with Keller since it's doubtful CTJ will even participate in state. Keller is also extremely strong in music, and have been more favorable to UIL in the past.
  20. Avon's Opener, Hebron's Everything, FloMo ballad, Round Rock's Piccolo Solo, Carmel's outstanding colorguard, The Woodland's music selection, Vandegrift's hardcore marching and playing. These are the most memorable things about 2017 to me.
  21. Based on this I think Avon would have won, since I think performance really hurt The Woodlands after losing that time. The difficulty of that show would have been right up Avon's alley. Marcus would also do very well with Cedar Parks show as it was very UIL oriented.
  22. Correct. For example Flower Mounds invitation may have been a suprise to the students, but it certainly wasn't to the directors. They were notified and accepted the invitation long before.
