  1. Considering the influence WGI and DCI has on marching band, and their importance of guard work and "throwing things", I don't think we will see that go away. Dance companies could become more of a thing though.
  2. Not trying to be rude, but Broken Arrows guard is NOT on the same level as Avon and Carmel. They're amazing performers and are very important to BAs show, but in terms of technical proficiency they are far from the level the other two are.
  3. Honesty I doubt it. They don't go very often, and I think after 2016 they wouldn't want to skip UIL again.
  4. Finally, a Carmel victory people can't b**** about!
  5. Do I think so? Absolutely. However I'm not a music judge.
  6. I think you're overthinking it. Ever since the end of the LD Bell/Marcus era there hasn't been a consistently good tx band. There is always a Texas group that rivals BA/Carmel/Avon, but it seems to change every year. Grand Nationals is a big trip that bands have to plan in advance, so they can't attend based on the success they have had that season. Even Flower Mound wasn't able to put out a winning product after doing it twice in a row. This is the biggest reason why most Texas band people want Nationals to be in San Antonio.
  7. Yup. Once they realized nothing was going to be given to them, the performance improved a lot.
  8. I think they improved a good deal! Way better than their prelims performance at San Antonio.
  9. So glad I get finally experience my first flo rage! I was really missing out for awhile.
  10. I actually have Marcus as a dark horse for a medal, and I think they'll be the highest placing Texas band at nationals.
  11. Flower Mounds closer in 2015. I forgot the name of the music but it is earth shatteringly cool and builds up perfectly to the singing box. Avon's intro this year definitely qualifies. Totally biased but Round Rocks opening hit in 2013 is also a really epic moment.
  12. Not really. Carmel barely beat Avon, while CTJ was over a point of them.
  13. Eh, Broken Arrow has been doing it for years, and they're one of if not the top visual group. The reality is guard amd percussion aren't really judged as deeply under the boa sheets compared to something like dci.
  14. Here's my theory: different judges judged prelims and finals. Oh wait, that's a fact!
  15. I'm now convinced the 8 hour rule is simply to prevent Texas bands from becoming too good.
  16. Out of finals with a score of 90. Ridiculous.
  17. Hebron will forever be the bridesmaids
  18. Maybe I'm just a positive sap, but everyone seems to be having better performances in finals! It's great to watch.
  19. Easily my favorite Marcus show of all time. Definitely the most fun and exciting one. Marcus has perfectly combined their traditional style with a more modern approach.
  20. Because Haltom beat you guys at Atlanta thus he thinks they would have made finals here, even though these prelims results show past results mean pretty much nothing. Congrats, go kill it in finals!!!
  21. Me either, but it is what it is. Congrats to those who made it, this contest is insane.
  22. Flower Mound is very...loud. Like my ears hurt after their performance. I'm not quite sure if thats good or bad, but to me it feels like they're playing forte+ for 90% of the show. Love the change to the preshow and the new hats.
