  1. I'd definitely have them over Stony Point, but I'd be pretty suprised to see them in finals. They're on their way though.
  2. This regional is super competitive at the top but not as thick getting into finals as BOA Austin. I think Vista will be fine, but no idea about Duncanville. Not a good start to their reintroduction into BOA.
  3. Yikes not good for Vista Ridge. They'll have to leave at atleast 3 in the morning
  4. Hebron and Marcus were only .05 apart at San Antonio last year. At this point it's a toss up, should be exciting.
  5. 1. James Madison 2. James Madison 3. James Madison 4. James Madison 5. James Madison 6. James Madison 7. James Madison 8. James Madison 9. James Madison 10. James Madison
  6. With their current track record it's hard to not imagine that Flower Mound will be our 2017 national champions. Of course every year is a new year, but I would put them as a easy lock for a medal. Also excited to see how The Woodlands do next year. They surprised everybody last year with their 2nd place finish. If they repeat that growth we just might have two medals come to Texas. Marcus and Round Rock should do fantastic as well, 4 very strong finalists for Texas at nationals.
  7. The other states would have to say goodbye to the music caption, that's for sure.
  8. But Carmel couldn't have won if they didn't keep up with Avon in captions. And considering Carmel beat Broken Arrow with a caption that weighed even less, I wouldn't say Avon was automatically "better". GE is incorporated so bands do their best to be creative and innovative every year. It keeps the activity fun and entertaining. And Lord knows how hard it is to strike lighting in a bottle and make a championship show, but thats what Carmel did (albeit I think Flower Mound struck better) I guess I can't speak without bias, as I really did not enjoy Avons show but to each his own.
  9. Carmel won prelims. Cedar Park did drastically better overtime. Calling it now, William Mason will get 2nd next year.
  10. Way to go Cedar Park! And I was not trying to bash Carmels win. They were actually my favorite of the top 6, I really wasn't feeling Avon personally. Congrats on #3! It seems every time Carmel wins it's met with some sort of controversy XD
  11. This fully convinces me Flower Mound would have won if they went.
  12. They have one of the best (if not THE best) colorguard in Texas. I think they had the performance they needed, and I would have them in based on performance captions, I'm just not sure what the GE judges will think of it. Hope they get another chance.
  13. Tarpon Springs is really good, but they're definitely a step down from how they were in 2014. They play runs like nobody else, but I thought Leander was better as a ensemble. There's also a good amount of visual dirt and individual technique is questionable. Again, I though Avon and Leander were better in this department. Effect wise the show has the same frantic mood throughout which fits the theme but could definitely benefit from some variety.
  14. At least they presented the finalist with their plaques and took pictures. Otherwise I'd say the full retreat was pretty worthless.
  15. Kinda silly to have a full retreat but only announce the medalists. Oh well. Looks like the gold is staying in Flower Mound, Texas. Congrats Flower Mound!
  16. In 2010 Round Rock made state, but there were 17th in prelims. Did not make finals.
  17. Any history buffs know the last time Round Rock made state finals? Couldn't be happier for that program right now.
  18. Just watched Avon and Carmel, overall not too impressed. Scores were definitely inflated compared to San Antonio. With some clean up Leander and CTJ could easily pass these groups. Wouldn't be shocked to see Texas grab the top two spots this year.
  19. BOA is not an advancement type ordeal like UIL. If you pay to be in the competition, you get a spot considering there are spots available.
  20. Hahaha! Yeah no ones beating that. That was the best performance I've ever seen. You know which band Im talking about.

  22. Oh BOA San Antonio, you never cease to surprise...
  23. Vandegrift and Claudia Taylor Johnson were very interesting to watch back to back. Night and day in terms of style. CTJ definitely aimed to peak at Nats, I'm curious to see where the judges place them. And Vandegrift was "On Point"
