  1. Round Rock has not left. Not sure how much longer the delay will be.
  2. Well since our region video is up anyways might as well share a better quality version. Still some mic issues with soloists though
  3. So much for visual being our strong point... Was Round Rock really that behind the other three? What do people think of our show, I've heard very little comments on the overall design of it. Not trying to diss Lewisville ISD, they are fantastic. Just wondering what people think.
  4. Yes. Round Rocks penalty was actually supposed to be a full point, but was halfed as it was the first contest.
  5. Congratulations Leander! We're fine here at Round Rock, we are just honored to perform at such an amazing contest with such amazing groups. This season is gonna be killer for Texas!
  6. Performance wise Bowie is Bowie, just plain great. The concept is probably my least favorite they've done over the past couple of years and the musical selection doesn't particularly grab me, but that's just me. Honestly with some more watches I'll probably come to enjoy it just like their show last year. They're one of the most consistent bands in Texas, if not the country, so I wouldn't bet on them dropping competitively.
  7. That's awesome! Make sure you wear two pairs of socks when you march in it, its really a life saver. Round Rocks gonna have three parts for Austin. Last year was Vista Ridges first time making any BOA event finals.
  8. Agreed on Westwood, their marching and playing at state was BOA San Antonio finals worthy imo. I heard a rumor they have some new designers/arrangers so I'm real excited to see if they break out into the BOA scene.
  9. Thank you! While that's certainly true, I feel our show is really geared toward Nationals. Regardless I think we'll do pretty well at Austin. I wish I could post a video, but I'm not really allowed to.
  10. I agree, the results of this contest are impossible to really predict right now. However one thing I'm almost sure of is Bowie's hold on the visual caption at this point. No other group is quite as clean, but maybe that will change by the 26th.
  11. I'm pretty sure a band can choose whether to participate in UIL contests, but the 8 hour rule is an absolute regardless.
  12. That really is funny, considering some 6A bands like CTJ, Bowie, and Round Rock are smaller than before due to being audition based.
  13. I think Leander is up there now with some real technically difficult stuff, espeically this year. But the real question is which band moves the most while playing that stuff? In that regard is why I think Hebron and Marcus are most renown for their sound. Most bands can play runs pretty good standing still, but the best do it on the move.
  14. Haha I don't think I have ever considered that. Just like CTJ I think Crowns uniform is most effective at a distance, which is really where it matters anyways.
  15. I agree, I wish the drum major uniform for the Crossmen was the corps uniform. Does anyone else see the resemblance between Carolina Crowns new uniform and CTJ? Particularly the shako and pants. I know people said they looked similiar before, but now I really see it.
  16. As far as I know yes, at least a good number have a spring training week that involves getting a basis on some music and rudimentary visual components.
  17. Here's some fun little fearless guesses I have for 2015 Austin: A new champion McAllen: Honestly can't see CTJ losing any leverage here Arlington: Marcus makes a early win ahead of Hebron Conroe: Woodlands take back this regional SA: Champion is too hard at this point, Hendrickson makes finals Grand Nats: Hebron takes music in finals, Woodlands or Round Rock win visual in semis or finals With UIL I feel Leander will be less of a threat in the BOA circuit (still being a solid finalist of course), however I feel they have a good shot as 5A champion. Still as we've seen with Vandegrift in 2013 that's by no means will have any effect on their success.
  18. I don't see how tieing for GE with Leander and losing music to CTJ is exactly "sweeping".
  19. After last season, it will be real interesting to see what kind of show Leander can produce for state. If they keep up the proficiency of their music they'll definitely be a contender for champion. Of course Cedar Park and Vandergrift will also most likely be contenders for that spot as well. Vista Ridge also has some strong pontential, and I really enjoyed their music selection this past season.
