Byron Nelson- What a fantastic performance to kick off the second half!!! Great opening with the trumpet solo and WW quintet! Huge sound throughout the show, and wow that Percussion is unreal!! Guard was great as well, and visually some super cool moments! Overall fantastic run, shouldn’t be to far out, but they put out a fight, great job BN! -

Rock Hill- talk about cleaned up!!! Wow, they look and sound like a different band from like 3 weeks ago at McKinney. It felt like they’re finally hit that point of contention with the show, bc that to me was so good. Lots more musical control, visually seemed clean, and percussion was going off. Still some things here and there but they want another run tonight and just might get it, amazing job RH! -

Plano Senior- Okay Plano Senior!! That sax soloist in the opener was nails, and another band with a lot of presence. Some discrepancies in pitch in the brass in their two features, but they killed some parts. WWs were solid throughout, and the trumpet and horn solos were great. Really fun show, amazing job Plano -

McKinney Boyd-OKAY BOYD, WE HEAR YOU!!!! So McKinney ISD is just a wall of sound, go it. Is my first live viewing this season and was not ready for that, holy smokes. The sweet dreams audio really sets the tone and then bang. And then it’s right into the next movement, the trilling in the brass was so clean and effective. Beautiful ballad with the flute and soprano sax (I think) duet. Visually really strong, a couple cover down issues but very strong. I mean wow I’m happy I’m not a judge bc like, that could be at state. They could make everyone’s preds so wrong -

VR Eaton- great showing from Eaton. Loved the pure imagination, trumpet and euph duet in the ballad was so great with them echoing each other. Brass feature was solid, some cracks in trumpets but very good otherwise. Loved the blow it up section, looks like them and WE playing that today. Visually some spacing issues but some really cool visuals. One of the stronger perc sections so far, wow. Great job Eaton!! -

Hebron- I mean just don’t get it. They never let down, Ever!!! It almost felt like they’re saying that just bc we didn’t win Bedford doesn’t means we’re gone. Opener, insane, love how they start strong and then back of with the WWs. Crown 13 ballad part was peak, and that ballad…. Loved the perc feature, they continue to get stronger, and the brass feature before the end. And those WWs are playing a million notes so fast. And oh the guard, so strong. They do a great job exploring the different themes like space and the ocean, the music and drill shows it very well. And drill/visuals, so so clean. Don’t be surprised if they win tonight…or state. Ty Hebron for blessing my ears this lovely morning -

Allen- I’m always impressed that despite them having a million kidos, they always manage to be very strong. Ofc they’re super loud with that many kids, but it’s a very controlled sound. And visually as well, they’re doing so much but it’s fairly clean. Loved the Niagara Falls ending, really killed it. Soloists and small ensembles were great, and I really really enjoyed that. Fantastic job Allen!! -

Plano East-yeah….i see why they were 5th at Waco, that was soooo good!! They sound so mature in that opening almost fanfare feeling, and the straight movement into Machine is handled so well. Super awesome drum break, everyone was jamming out. Beautiful ballad, don’t remember seeing the soloist on the train tracks before, super cool. Ending was a little rough at times, but both sextets killed it. Visually strong, should be seeing them tonight. Great job PESH -

Wylie- That-Freaking-Wylie-Band!!!! By far their best run I’ve seen. Opening hit was so strong, balance was perfect. Brass and WWs killed their respective parts going into the 2nd movement. That ballad….goosebumps. A little rough at times in the closer I’m high brass, but it was brief. Again visually, they’ve cleaned up so much. Another one fighting for that 4th spot. Gaurd was wow, and big ups to that flute player marching with the arm injury, that’s freaking commitment. See yall tonight!!! -

McKinney- my jaw is on the ground, HOLY WALL OF SOUND!!! That brass continues to push loud and to much and they’ve seemed to found the sweet spot. Soloists were fantastic, the ballad hit, Jesus. Visually so strong, those visuals are so much more together. They could be 4th tonight, I’m gonna be honest. It’s def more UIL than boa, but I mean unreal sound. Can’t wait to see them tonight! -

Guyer-Really great start to today! Soloists throughout were very strong, and they sounded really good. Come together perc feature was solid, and I loved the ballad, flag work was great. Not a ton of musical difficultly or variety in dynamics, and some visual dirt but they’re definitely on the up, great job Guyer! -

Also @TrenBS I completely agree with your statement. Especially with some schools possibly going back to 5A, I really hope they do make some changes to the areas, because if J goes to 3 to state, it’s gonna just be pretty useless for others than the 3 LISD schools -

Weather for prelims has looked to cleared up. Finals still seems a little iffy, but I’d rather have something than nothing. Also, here is my final predictions: 1. Hebron (WWs/Brass/Perc 2) 2. Flomo (Vis 1 & 2) 3. Marcus (Percussion) 4. Wylie 5. Prosper 6. McKinney 7. PESH 8. Braswell 9. Boyd 10. East/ Rock Hill -
