Excellent points here. I didn't realize Westwood presented their entire show at BOA Austin. I wish I had known that when I was watching! Bluebird was a beautiful show, truly. I can see how show weariness could be a factor by the end of the season, but I think the constant tweaking of and additions to a show throughout the season would help with that.

I know that many directors and their staff already know the next year's show theme a good bit in advance, but I don't think most share it with the band members and their parents until Springtime. It would be hard to keep that a secret! I guess they don't anyway, unless they don't care if it's a secret? I shouldn't speak for every band!

I’d love to see a Texas version of this same sort of thing for those of us not really up on all the history of all the other states.

Exciting stuff! I’m glad to hear that they are going back to the days of having just the one band and I can’t wait to see their new uniforms. Someone in the program said last fall that the dragon would continue to be incorporated into the new uniform somehow. Round Rock’s uniforms are iconic so I’m sure they’ll be amazing! Leander is supposedly getting new uniforms as well this fall. Can’t wait for the unveiling!

It's amusing to me that you like the old style of the military bands, yet you love Carmel's winterguard show. That makes you a very well rounded enthusiast of all types and styles of marching and guard work. I admire that. As for myself, I used to be old school all the way until bands like Leander, Broken Arrow and CTJ showed me how incredibly beautiful and gripping this new artistic style was! But I'm still old school I guess when it comes to Carmel's marching and WGI shows because they always leave me scratching my head and wondering what the heck I just saw (or heard!)!

I wish Flo Marching would allow you to go back and watch competitions you may have missed. At least for a day or two anyway. I’d love to be able to go back and watch today’s WGI competitions now that I’m home for the day. Especially those Florida guard groups!

I remember how disconcerting it was for us when Leander went from 5A to 6A in 2016-17. The competition at the 6A level is extraordinary!

I figured Jameil was here, but I just thought he didn’t post. Had no clue he was Principal Agent!

Somehow I randomly ran across this video and realized that I had not actually watched it before, at least not in its entirety. It must have been before I knew how entertaining Daniel Montoya is. Here are my takeaways from this video. 1. I can’t wait for BOA Austin 2018. 2. I never realized how much Daniel Valdez actually eats during a band competition. 3. Jeremiah Wooten is a hoot. He comes across as all snarky and moody in the MFA forums ( ), but he’s actually a really nice guy. 4. I can’t wait for BOA Austin 2018. 5. I am in this video at least 4 times and had no clue. 6. Daniel Sanchez is just as nice in real life as he is in this video. 7. I can’t wait for BOA Austin 2018. 8. Daniel Montoya talks really fast and Daniel Valdez is very sunburnt. 9. There are a lot of great high school bands and Daniels in this video. And 10. I CAN’T WAIT FOR BOA AUSTIN 2018!

Ok, the rest of the state got SCHOOLED! El Paso (Eastlake?) just showed us where it's AT! That was simply phenomenal and the only show all day to get a standing ovation. WORD!!

And again I'm saying that Bentonville was stunning. This time in Open Class. Both groups were mesmerizing! Just phenomenal talent at that school.

Bentonville was just pure bliss to watch live! Ethereal, truly.

I really want to but I’ve got to get home to Austin (I’ve been traveling in NW. Arkansas all week), and my daughter needs to get back to Texas State this afternoon. Not looking forward to the drive down I-35 today! I do love watching those independent guards. They are so beautiful. I wish there had been an activity like this back when I was in color guard! Just stunning to watch!
