  1. This system of announcing placements in Scholastic and Independent A is PURE TORTURE!
  2. It’s a brilliant show. And I love me some good hip hop! ;-)
  3. Wow, I didn’t realize that. Texas colorguards are definitely on the rise and becoming quite competitive. It’s about time.
  4. Funny, I had the exact same thought. They’re on the rise!
  5. Leander had a fantastic run.
  6. I'm not going to lie...Eastlake is my favorite and they aren't from anywhere near me!!! I support McNeil and Klein Oak for being in central Texas, but I'm CRAZY about Eastlake from El Paso!!!
  7. Ha ha, yes! My BBMF (best band mom friend) and I kept yelling out the correct pronunciation each time he got it wrong. I did the same thing at BOA DFW when he pronounced Coppell wrong. Only trouble was, once he got corrected, he kept emphasizing it like cup-PELLLLL. He would really put that emphasis on PELL and it was funny!
  8. Heh, you had me all stressed out for a hot minute yesterday!
  9. I loved it. And that music helps sell it. So beautiful. I remember hearing it for the first time in Castle's tribute to Sophie last fall. Just lovely.
  10. I'm watching the WGI Worlds and was so impressed just now with Avon. No wonder they are the best in their division! So talented. It does make me wonder about something. If WGI World Championships were held in Texas every year, would more of the Texas guards rise to the level of an Avon or a Carmel? If it was just down the road every year, it seems to me like that would definitely have some bearing on how competitive our guards would be. That just occurred to me this morning and it made me wonder...
  11. There is a general Austin thread that lists like 20 schools. What part of the state are you hoping to get feedback on? One of my favorite small central Texas bands is Burnet. They're always great!
  12. Leander did the exact thing last year. The fall of '16 was so intense with BOA SA, 6A STATE and Grand Nats and so they drastically scaled back their 2017 Winterguard season after such a crazy fall. No JV squad last year, and the overall winterguard season was just far less intense in 2017. Round Rock seems to be doing the same thing this year after their crazy fall competition schedule and GN trip. Just giving the kids a bit of a breather winterguard season after the intense fall marching season. Leander and Round Rock share some of the same color guard staff so that's what I'm basing it on.
  13. I sure am proud of the Leander Guard for becoming TCGC Scholastic National A Class State Champions yesterday in College Station. They were phenomenal this year...truly. I went to the parent send off performance Friday evening and the stands were absolutely packed with family members, students and fans such as myself. When Will Calloway walked out onto the gym floor to introduce the guard, the place erupted into huge applause. Very well deserved applause, I must say. He has done an amazing job with both the JV and Varsity squads this year. And the parent performance was nearly flawless and completely stunning. Everyone stood for an ovation when it was over, and it was pretty moving. I can't wait to see how they do at WGI in Ohio later this week. #ForeverAFan
  14. Ok, I need someone to explain some winterguard stuff to me if you can! Here are my questions: 1). Why are there no Dallas area colorguards in today's TCGC competition? Do they choose not to do TCGC up there? 2). Where is CTJ? I don't see them mentioned for any upcoming competitions and their show was supposed to be amazing I thought? 3). Is this WGI championship in Ohio like BOA where anybody who pays can go? Or do you have to earn a competition spot for that? I'm just a bit confused still on how winterguard really works. And lastly, how often do schools move up a level? Do they have a choice in that? Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to tackle these questions!
  15. . Ohhhhh, lucky man! My husband drives a tractor trailer for a living and he always wanted to drive for Leander. It’s a hard gig to get though! :-)
  16. Why are there so many predators in this world!? http://www.philly.com/philly/news/cadets-drum-bugle-corps-george-hopkins-sexual-abuse-harrassment-allentown-pennsylvania.html
  17. Ahhh, maybe so. I didn't think of that. Then they probably sell them or repurpose them before they build new ones the next summer!
