  1. Well there ain't much chance of my NOT being there to support Leander, regardless. But if someone wants to build that sports bar (or perhaps we could call it a band bar?), and if one of the streaming services wants to sign on for showing all of the UIL area competitions that day, well COUNT ME IN!
  2. I'm a Tennessee girl who's been blessed to live in Texas 21 years now. I like that bumper sticker that says, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!" Wisconsin is very nice. Especially in the summer when it's a zillion degrees down here.
  3. Hahahaha!!!! That cracked me up for some bizarre reason. The Madison nickname is Cody, who is in the James Madison HS band in San Antonio. As for BrewersGrill...I have no idea. I used to have family in Janesville, WI. Visited there many times as a child.
  4. Ohhh, are they the CTJ moms I befriended last year??!! Gina and Lisa??
  5. What hurts the most is that every one of these hotly contested areas will determine their state contenders on the same day. And there's no Flo Marching to broadcast any of it. While I'm sweating it out watching Leander ISD and it's competitors battle it out for a spot at state, there will be so many other areas I'd also like to be watching. What we need is a big ole sports bar with TV screens all around, and something like Flo Marching broadcasting the whole thing that day.
  6. Yes, it's a fantastic school. I grew up with Harding in my blood, having attended Harding Academy in Memphis for 12 years (which I believe is one of the largest, if not THE largest, private schools in the country). I got a superb education and was blessed to be in a pretty awesome HS band for 5 years. Fantastic memories for me, ALL of my Harding years.
  7. I think Duncanville is going to really shine this year. I wish they would come down to BOA Austin!
  8. Yes I can see how that could be an issue for these West Texas schools. I mean Ft Worth *is* practically West Texas anyway.
  9. Awww, well I do feel bad for the tone of my post. It could definitely have come off a bit arrogant! I'm sure Abilene has a fine football team. I mean they are 6A after all. BTW, I went to Harding University back in the day, which is a sister school of ACU.
  10. Well, the HEB district *is* technically west of Dallas...so I guess it sort of makes sense. Maybe...
  11. Ohhh I'm so sorry if I sounded offensive! I am just bewildered as to why a 6A DFW area school would be zoned to play a school so far away!! I mean can the DFW area not find enough local schools for Bell to play against?! Nothing against Abilene itself.
  12. Bell may not have changed their area or district as far as TMEA goes this fall (or did they?), but they definitely changed who they play in football. I was looking at their schedule so I can go watch my friend’s son play again before BOA DFW, and I noticed they don’t have Flowermound or Marcus on their calendar at all this year. I know that they played both last year. I’m kinda bummed about that. Looks like I’ll be watching Bell play Abilene. Really. Abilene???
  13. Wow, you guys are still growing?! I think all of the schools you mentioned are more than twice the size of Leander, or close to it anyway. Yet we’re considered 6A. Is it time for a 7A classification?!
  14. Oh my goodness I completely forgot about Bowie. And I LOVE Bowie!!
  15. Grain Valley has a great band. This should definitely be a boost for the VR program!
  16. Oh man, that hurts! How do you predict top 5 in that region/area?! That’ll be one to watch for sure. Especially if Duncanville rises to the level of their new drill designer and music arrangement team, and if Haltom, Prosper and Richland continue on their current upward trajectory. Dare I say that 6A state may actually be more exciting than BOA SA this fall!
  17. Ah so I DIDNT just dream that Richland moved up to 6A!
  18. Oh that’s right, Richland will probably not be at BOA events. Bummer. I wish we could see more of them. Did they move up to 6A this year by chance? I was going to say Coppell as a surprise band but for some reason I got to thinking they often made finals. I think I am confusing some regional competitions with the super regional. This could be Hebron’s year to take San Antonio and 6A state. And GN next year perhaps? I can’t wait to see what Texas bands head to Indy in 2019. It could be a (not so) hostile takeover.
  19. Ok, I’m really going to go out on a limb here and make some bold predictions for the 2018 fall season before we hear the themes. Let’s see how accurate they turn out to be.
  20. Leander did “Beneath the Surface” in 2013 and the music was extremely difficult. My band kid (marched 2013, 14, 15 & 16) said it was the hardest music she ever played. Of course she was a freshman that year which could be part of why she felt like it was so hard. Going from middle school to high school band in LISD was quite an adjustment for her!
  21. wonder what the hold up is...all these new BOA locations? And the change in how they are going to do San Antonio perhaps? I don't know...I'm just speculating.
  22. It'd be awesome if it was Avon, Carmel, Broken Arrow, Tarpon Springs and 8 Texas bands in Finals.
  23. Just realized someone had already started a thread for this back in Feb or March and it's under Everything Music. MY BAD!
