Woo hoo Reagan won 88.63 over Vandy 88.23! And let me just say right now, that fool that yelled LEANDER BANDS DO IT BETTER as Vandy took the field tonight does NOT speak for all of LISD! I was embarrassed. -

Before awards are announced, I just want to say that Hendrickson was phenomenal tonight! And I wanna give a shout out to Georgetown. They're rocking it this year! Reagan was on fire too. Wow. -

In prelims, it was 6A Vandy in first, Reagan 2nd and Hendrickson 3rd. Vandy and Reagan went back and forth for captions. Georgetown took ALL 5A captions! Go G-town! -

I agree...it's just insane how competitive it is down here. Vista would do really well in other parts of the country. Do you remember in 2013 and 2014 when they had the violinist on the field at Vista? Man, those were great shows! I think 2014 may be my favorite of theirs, other than the fact that was before they had an actual color guard and they just used their dance team (with no flags or weapons). It was called Danza de la Rosa and it was beautiful with that violin solo! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppoRYgqxlLw Good stuff right there. -

Yes. I know that Vista Ridge completely renamed their show last year after BOA Austin and the judges feedback. Their original name was Atomic Fiction and it was a very retro looking show if you guys remember. (I loved it!). After the judges comments that the show really didn't have anything to do with the theme, they renamed it "A Beautiful Tomorrow." -

Looks like Gonzales and United dropped out of the competition is all. Edit: After looking again, I see the word "Laredo" in front of United. So obviously I was wrong. Hey, even I can admit that every now and then! -

None better than CTJ to give that area a taste of how amazing, yet wildly unusual, high school marching band can be. Good for them. BOA ambassadors indeed!! Have a safe trip! -
Yeah, it's good to see those 2 old men participating so much this season. I'm just a kid, myself. I lurked for several years before deciding last Spring to make an official account and start chatting. I wish I had done it sooner, when my band kid was still in HS. I'm not sure what stopped me! I'm definitely not a shy person. I guess I thought the site was more for band experts and students. But I'm glad to see so many parents contributing. It certainly makes for a more well rounded discussion. Did you ever notice the stat at the bottom of the page that shows the most posters ever on a single day? It's some random date in May! What the heck could have been happening that particular May day to cause such a stir? Any of you old coots remember that day and can shed some light on it for me? Thanks for responding Mr LHSax. Were you a Leander student or does the L stand for something else?

Non-Texas Marching Bands are ruined for me

heh, well I did both! I'm a singer and a flautist. I loved marching band, concert band, and singing in the choir. Now I work with small children and so I still pretty much get to do all of those things. -

My Leander kiddo chose not to do band at Texas State because she knew that it would be a bit of a let down after high school band. I think she's regretting it a bit now as many of her Leander cohorts are in the TXST band, but she is enjoying coming to the BOA competitions with me. -

Ahhh, so it was SDOC that did that show. I was trying to remember just the other day who it was. Everyone definitely enjoyed that one! I always like a show with a good punch line.
