Another great one, Daniel. I'm going to miss these come the 3rd week in November! Oh my goodness it is RIDICULOUS how excited I am for this compettion! I have already made a copy of the schedules, shrunk them down to index card size; I put one in front and one on the back inside an ID card holder which I intend to wear on a lanyard. One day we should have a "who is the nerdiest (ex)band parent?" contest. I think I could win. I can't wait to see Pearland again and see what all they've added to the Train show Sat at 10:30 am. And Clearbrook's Dracula show! It's early Friday morning (9:15 am), but SO WORTH GETTING UP EARLY FOR! If you are debating how early to come, just DO IT! I'm headed to San Marcos later tomorrow night and spending the night so I can skip Austin's rush hour traffic and get ON DA ROAD early Friday morning. I still can't get over the fact that some of our biggest name bands are not going to make finals this year. Just unheard of. It stresses me out just thinking about it! Come on Texas bands....BRING IT! And lastly, I am just over the top pumped for Avon to be in our midst. Let's show them ALL of the Texas love, people! They deserve our admiration and our respect, and let's give those Avon kids the best experience of their high school marching careers! LET'S ROLL!!

Oh my goodness, and I thought that *I* had it bad....I just happened upon this story about a 52 year old woman who is "still" in her college marching band after all these years, and it made me feel a LITTLE bit better about myself.

Choral Works. It was a play on words of the coral props and the choral singers up front. It was truly a great year for Leander other than that whole Great Flood fiasco!

I'll never forget it either. Leander won BOA Austin that year. We were favored to do VERY well at BOA SA so it was devastating not to be able to compete!! Just a real heartbreaker for the Seniors especially.

Oh I'm so jealous! We had the time of our lives last year doing SA, State and GN all within one week. It was exhausting but a week we will never forget. Have fun and GO #TEAMTEXAS!!!

Which band in Atlanta had this amazing and creepy version of Every Step You Take in their show? I just heard it again on Dancing With the Stars and I can't get enough of it!!

You're right about the huge improvement in audio quality. And I truly do get that the camera guys can't possibly know what to follow and when on each band, but so much of it is intuitive if you know marching band at all. Hopefully they will continue to improve because these kids deserve a quality product to match the high quality of their performances!

OK that was too cool with the rapper. And that band could GET DOWN! Was just looking at the BOA results for that year and noticed Gary Markham was the chief judge way back then too. That man has been doing that gig for a LONG time!!
