Hey guys! Definitely some wacky judging. I’ll do a post tomorrow about my thoughts one the ones I didn’t but yeah, not surprised LT won, they were so clean but I thought Wylie was gonna take it. Congrats to everyone, it was an amazing night, but yeah we’re def having a wacky season with some judging maybe? Who knows

Yeah so Wylie was insane. Ballad is straight magic, insane sax soloists. Just such a big presence and mature sound. Thought the narration added some nice effect. Visually very strong, couple moments in the drill. And that guard, WOW. Amazing job TWB!!

PLANO EAST, hello??!?! This is bottom half??? This is my first time seeing this legendary program live and boy are they building off last season, a very strong contender for area finals and even finals at boa Waco. There is soooo much GE, both musically and visually. The pick axe section was so fun, soloists were nails, like omg they are really good. Watch out area J

It’s really insane seeing how far independence has come under Mr. king. I mean wow, that’s definitely a dark horse for state. So much power in the sound, soloists were fantastic. Could beat RH tn and I wouldn’t be super shocked. Probably their best show to date, amazing job Indy!!

Hmmmm, I have mixed feelings about RH. I kinda have the same feeling for them as Emerson. It doesn’t feel like the show really brings out their full potential. They are very clean, a couple stick outs/tuning things but very good sound. Guard was also amazing, and visually lots of cool visuals that brought out the theme, loved the trombone solo. Great job ual

Heritage: sooo, heritage is really freaking good. Their ensemble sound is huge, and omg that perc is sooooo clean, wished their feature was longer. Need to work on some accuracy in trumpets. Visually very good as well, really nailed those cover downs, should make finals at area, them and Emerson may be closer than some may have thought…maybe, I’m no judge

Also just noticed JJ didn’t make finals. Wonder what’s going on bc they won this comp last year. Feels like there’s been a lot of ups and downs from these past couple seasons in terms of where certain bands are placing

Emerson: really nice show! They lowkey sound at times like a concert band, such maturity in the sound. A couple stick outs in the last cord but that was it. Visually very engaging, but I just with it was a bit more mature theme. It’s not bad but I think next year they can handle something more challenging. Great job Emerson!

North Forney: loved the theming and GE throughout. Lots of it in the drill in particular. Musically very strong, some things in the brass that need cleaning but overall a very strong run, could maybe break into area finals? They’re definitely chasing it. also phone at 12%. Will do my best to get everyone but if I can’t will post thoughts when I’m home

I think recently they’ve done the 5A/6A state judging panel or the 5 judge system from area for placements plus an additional Perc and guard judge for captions

And also LS winning visual is huge, can’t wait to see them and Wakeland go head to head again next weekend

Okay so Rock Hill was bottom half, very curious. Still have time to grow but wondering why after hearing their show was much more competitive , guess I’ll know here soon

Congratulations to all our finalist! Shocked to see no Clear Brook, they had the same thing last year where they dominated 3A and the first Houston comp and they didn’t make finals at the second. Curious as to where they placed

Okay so I’m watching Norths rehearsal for their exhibition run and ummmm they are loud af. Will comment more again and try and rank them in the the others but ummm yeah they sound pretty good

Amazing final schedule! I’m a bit surprised about no Colleyville and rock Hill being bottom, half, but a big congratulations Heath on top half! I’m super excited to see all his amazing bands tonight.

Some crazy results is true! It seems Richland and the colony are as strong as they have in these past two seasons, which is a bit surprising. It’s great to see Lakeview Centennial doing so well here, thanks for the update.
