Hebron, OH. MY. GOSH!!! I don’t think other than some Very minor things, that was just such a magical performance. Musically just insane, WOW! Great work from the brass with the double touching in the second movement, so tight. Beautiful work from the flute in the ballad, and what an ensemble sound, and the trumpet to close it off is chefs kiss. Love the use of Rocky Point for the super strong closer. Visually so clean as well, love the double flag work. Definitely looking like a top contender, amazing job Hawk band!

Great run from Round Rock! Love the new uniforms a lot, and while I do miss the old ones, I like the modernness of the new ones. Really strong sounds from the brass, some difficult technical runs that they are nailing. Great work from the soloists throughout. I do wish they gave the Mello's a run in the end of the metropolis part, but seeing how they set up the ending I understand why they didn't. Visually very appealing as well, guard with some great work. Great job tonight Dragon Band!

PEARLAND!!!! Yeah again another draw-dropping performance, by far my favorite use of Pines of Rome, and it’s not even close. Seeing this group rise up has just been extraordinary, but they are reaching new heights of success, and idk over who, but they could jump up tonight, though it’s still to early to tell. Musically I’m just blown away by their sound, woodwinds, ya’ll have my heart, so beautiful and those technical passages you make seem like a joke. Brass is playing so loud but never too much. And the visual package so is good, and they were much cleaner tonight, WOW WOW WOW, Outstanding job tonight Pearland!!!

Coppell brining the HEAT tonight!! Lovely work from the brass in the opener, they are nailing that opener so consistently, really mature sounds. Trombone feature was so good, and that WW quartet, so clean! Visually such a well written show, again love the big curve form in the WW’s at the start of the ballad with the brass again playing so well, and now backfield. They’ve really come along way, and I’ve really enjoyed watching them today, amazing job Coppell!!

YES MCNEIL!!! Absolutely phenomenal performance to end the season on!!! What an opening statement, such big yet controlled sounds. Lovely soloists all around, that Sax quartet has been so much fun to listen to all season long, and they were great tonight. Love that Debussy ballad, so beautifully played. Tons of visual GE, and drill was very clean and effective. Wouldn’t be surprised if they place well tonight because that was fantastic, amazing job McNeil!!!

Stellar performance from Cedar Ridge!!! They have really had such a huge comeback from last season, and it’s super clear that they weren’t happy with how it went. The visual GE in this show is insane, so much body work with them moving left to right, but they do it in so many different ways that it never becomes boring, and the pendulum’s they make in the drill are so cool. Never thought I’d hear wrecking ball as a ballad for a marching band, but their arrangement of it goes so well with the show, incredible musical run all around, fantastic job Raider Band!!

WOW SEVEN LAKES!!!! That ensemble sound is just SO BIG, Holy Crap!! Yeah I honestly could see them not being the last in, because that performance was insanely good! I remember my friends and I being blown away by their volume, and I don’t know how they do it, but that brass is just pumping out some serious sound. Great work visually as well, percussion was also very clean, but my goodness 7L, amazing job tonight!!

Great performance from Cedar Park to get things rolling!! Love the visual design of this show so much, soloists were amazing as they have been all season, that trombone in the ballad is so pretty. Did hear a couple of minor music errors, mainly hangovers/players playing to loud which did stick out, but other than that a very good musical run. I do still think they have potential for top half at Nats, we saw what happened in 2016. Amazing job tonight Timberwolf band!!

You have to remember its two completely judging systems. GE is not factored in for UIL, nor the individual sub captions for the music and visual. Also, the performances are inside, which does help, not to mention that last weekend was super bad weather wise, so its not real good/fair to compare today with last weekend

MCNEIL AND SEVEN LAKES!!!! History in the making tonight!! Congrats to all of our finalist!! I will admit, Leander did surprise me, hopefully they are able to come back at Nats. I do wonder if they got a penalty from the delayed start, because that very well could have been what happened. Also, when was the last time Keller didn't make it? Congratulations again to everyone who competed yesterday and this morning/afternoon, tonight is going to be WILD!!

Yep, that's Vandegrift for you, nothing but excellence from start to finish, MY GOODNESS!!! Love it all so much, soloists were great, drill was very clean and boy do they sound good! At this point I have no idea who top 3 will be, much less our finalist, but wow they are putting up a fight for the 2-peat here, awesome performance Vandy!!

CY-WOODS!!! Please let that be in finals because that show is awesome, not to mention they look and sound amazing!! Brass is so so strong, but also have so much dynamical control, and those WW's were so tight. Loved the Fox theme opening, and the sax quartet that followed was such a jam, the whole show was! If they don't make it they will be very close, but that show is loaded with GE, and that was just about as perfect of a run that they could have had, wonderful job Cy-Woods!!

I'm in absolute shock right now.......HOLY MOLY PEARLAND!!! Musically, I'm in awe, what a sound. Visually, so clean. I'll write more tonight about them because I'm just in shock of what they just did, think they might be top half tonight, because if they have that level and clean of a performance, if not better, they're gonna have a special day, amazing job Perland, wow wow wow

Solid run from Dripping Springs! Really love the visual aspects of the show, they've done such a great job literally threading in the drill, super cool affect at the end with pairs of members being connected with the thread. Musically some really strong moments, great work soloists, especially the ballad, some big distance between members that can create timing issues, but it's nothing for these kids. A little bit of stickouts from the bass trombone and a couple holdovers in the release of big hits, but I'd stay they still have a decent shot, great job DS!

REALLY great run from Coppell!! So much to love about this show, and those kids just performed so well. Love the drill design a lot, the big curve form is so cool, and there's plenty of references to organs throughout. Musically very clean, loved the trombone feature, and that brass is just so rich with sound, I do think we'll be seeing them again, amazing job Coppell!!
