2022-23 Area C Predictions?
Tubalord11 replied to SaxPapi101's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
pretty much my list, although I'd have Wylie East, Prosper and Rock Hill all up one and probably Sachse to and then Rockwall. Rockwall has a great show but they have yet to beat any of these groups, especially Wylie East and Prosper, who were both way ahead of them last weekend at boa North Texas. And yes, it is UIL but I think they are still significantly ahead of Rockwall -

Hey, so the 6A area B only has 7 finalist, but needs to have 12. Could someone fix that? Thanks -

Yeah it was all over the place but it’s not to say something like that couldn’t happen again, but yes I know that stuff like that happens. Regarding Vista, Area was definitely their best 2 performances and probably their leek, but I do get what your saying. -

No there is absolutely not disadvantage to having a show that isn’t 8 minutes. Most shows run through the 7:15-7:30 range(I think), but know. Judges are just judging on what they see. If you have a band that has a longer show but it’s dirty compared to a shorter show that’s clean, the judges will reward the cleaner show over the dirty one. -

They don’t have GE at Area though. And guys, do remember in 2019, Lonestar did win Area prelims, winning ALL 3 music judges, and then Lebanon won finals. So I don’t think it would be impossible for someone to do it, as it happened just a few years ago. -
So how is everyone feeling of our tx bands right now? I personally think of the 4, prosper is the strongest, and has a great chance of top half of finals. Johnson seems to be doing good as well, with a solid win at midland. Carrol made a good redemption this past weekend at boa prosper, and Hendrickson had made finals at all their contest, but haven’t broken into the 80’s, but hopefully a most likely win at their area this weekend can be a good confidence boost for them. I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts as we get closer to nats!

So people don’t freak out, BC did get a 1 but just have decided not to participate. With that being said, here would be my rankings: 1st: Aledo 2nd: Azle 3rd: Colleyville Heritage 4th: Summit 5th: Grapevine(could be lower but they are on a roll this season) 6th: Midlothian 7th: birdville 8th: Richland 9th: Burleson 10th: Timberview/Granbury? Idk for this spot. -

Oh really, that’s a little surprising but understandable. I would have thought they would have wanted to go so they could get a feel of the area and where they stand since next year is a state year, but of course they have a reason. Still an amazing year for them! -

thank you! saw their region performance, and I think they have a shot at finals here if they clean up the closer. -

yeah I know it's crazy! I just hope they find something new soon, but it seems like for the most part, the bands who make state are al "worthy" but Texas is just so competitive, everyone is so good, and there will always be bands who don't make it that should have or were "worthy" of making it to state. But all the kids can do is try their hardest, so no matter the results, they know they left it all on the field! -

I feel like 7 judges wouldn’t be needed(it would be hard to find that many for each area) but maybe they did different sheets? Like for marching do individual and ensemble, and for music maybe individual ensemble and percussion, or I guess woodlands brass and percussion, but I feel like them doing more like state wouldn’t hurt, it’s just they’ve been doing the 5 sheets for so long, but I know a LOT of people don’t agree with how area judging is, but UIL is doing their best. -
2022-23 Area C Predictions?
Tubalord11 replied to SaxPapi101's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Well, I was hoping after last weekend, things would be easier to predict, but they've only gotten harder! Some bands here had some major success, and now that most if not all won't be competing till area (other than region if they haven't gone but I'm pretty sure everyone has), here are my final predictions: 1st: Hebron 2nd: Flowermound 3rd: Marcus 4th: Wylie 5th: Wylie East 6th: Prosper 7th: Rockhill 8th: Mckinney Boyd 9th: Rockwall 10th: Sachse 11th: PESH 12th: Braswell I honestly could see 4-6 going to anyone from 10th up. It will really be determined by how everyone's performance is! there are so many bands at this area that are worthy of going to state, and it will be tuff fight for those last 3 spots, so everyone will need to be on their A Game if they want a state spot! -
