  1. Wooooo Vandy! I have trouble seeing a situation where that doesn't win the music caption. That was so good! And they are so clean! P.S someone please tell the announcer how to pronounce the name. Hint: it's not Vanderrrgrift.
  2. WOW WOW WOW! Way to go CTJ! What an amazing performance! Such an improvement from 2 weeks ago and this show may actually have become one of my favorites of the season!
  3. Narration and singing both at times have made shows better. But I must admit that I think they both usually make things worse. I can't help but focus on the quality of the singer most of the time and with few exceptions it isn't a match for the quality of the band. Not to mention a marching band isn't the easiest accompaniment to sing to.
  4. Ok, this is super random but have any of you ever watched the tv show glee? I started watching it recently for some mindless time passing and in the show there is a school called Carmel High (in Ohio) that is the 3 time defending national champion (for show choir). I just thought that it was super weird how coincidental that was for the school to be called Carmel and to have won 3 National Championships in a row.
  5. I think a Grand Nats focused show will be good for Cedar Park. They have done very well these past two seasons, but I can't help but think that conservative design has held them back. I could see them making finals at San Antonio comfortably if their design team produces another show of Nats caliber as they have in the past.
  6. Last year all Texas bands made finals, technically. (Just Prosper) There might have been other years like that as well.
  7. To quote Taylor Swift- "YoU NeEd to CaLm DOwN" I get that small schools have to face different challenges and often get overlooked in our discussions on here. I also completely understand the idea that schools may not be able to afford additional contests like BOA. That said, this post, like most of the ones you have posted before, is so insufferable and condescending that the only thing you are getting anyone to see here is that you have a preconceived idea and are willing to come up with any wisp of an argument that might come close to supporting it. Honestly, if you think that having to pick up kids at the school is a valid argument for not participating in a contest, I don't know what I or anyone could say to you that wouldnt go in one ear and out the other. I appreciate though that as the obvious expert on big school band programs you have decided to use your invalid opinion that big school band directors monopolize their students as fact towards your arguments.
  8. Midlothian might be approaching 6A in the coming years it seems, even with another school. Same with Red Oak.
  9. I always forget if UIL is a top/bottom split?
  10. I felt really bad for that FM member. They were featured right at that moment and it was their final moment in competition for the entire year. There were dozens of falls though so it was definitely a problem. Some would have been almost comical if I wasn't worried about the performer getting hurt.
  11. I see them in top 20 for sure, but there are so many bands that should be in finals and there arent enough spots.
  12. Wouldn't really change anything for JBA as they would have been well out of semis.
  13. How many bands do you think will sign up this year? There were what- ?90? This year. Some of them weren't able to perform because there weren't enough spots.
  14. I wish, but even with the money that seems like nightmare logistics at this point.
  15. The post you quoted said it referred to the highest finals score any Texas band has received. Hebron received that score in Semifinals.
  16. Looks like Keller went from 5th in prelims to 11th in finals for Music, which was their strength for sure this year.
  17. Wow. All three of the top Leander ISD bands placed ahead of the top Lewisville ISD band. These two districts are easily the strongest for marching band in the state, and that has happened for LISD north before, but this is the first time I can think of for that to happen for LISD south.
  18. Wylie is the big one to look out for in my opinion. They have had several great shows the past few years and came in at 18th overall- ahead of groups like Coppell, Cedar Park, and Prosper.
  19. Sorry wrong RR. I meant Ronald Reagan.
  20. Ugh why is RR not going to grand nats? I'm floored!
  21. San Antonio is nothing if not perfectly crazy and unpredictable.
  22. Hebron has a show that I think could win nats, but its not quite there yet. I really hope they can get it done in the next week and a half because that show seems that it could be really special.
