2019 5A State
LostChoirGuy replied to PantherBone's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Considering how many people are falling at BOA this weekend, I have to think that those who are competing in both contests will have an advantage at state with the opportunity to practice marching on the turf that apparently is making kids falls all over the place. -

I know Oak Ridge was split recently, but they seem so much smaller than I expected... -

I totally get this and feel this way with most shows that feature a soloist throughout. But that doesnt change the fact that I'm still wowed by them. I do wish the music had more emphasis on the full ensemble. -

Anyone else give an "oooph" when the announcer said that Roma has participated in 9 consecutive state competitions? -

I'll tell you what- the woodlands sure isnt keeping things stale this year. I love the commitment by every individual. All of the jumping around and heel clicking makes it seem that they are really enjoying performing the show. It is really hard for me to guess how they will place, but I loved their show. -

Where does Vista Ridge get those soloists? Honestly they have had the best solo features for the last two years. -

I dont ever get rocket mortgage ads and I watch on high cam. Do you think that makes the difference. Those of you who get the ads, are you watching on Multi-cam? -

I just started watching and missed the first few minutes of Pearland's show. From what I saw though, Pearland was one of the best sounding bubble groups musically that I have heard. Visually they left a bit to be hoped for but I was very impressed with their sound. -

I see no reason why Cedar Park won't be the 5A state champion again. That was a great performance. -

Yeah, there was a really bad, noticeable fall at the beginning of CTJ's show as well. -

I love that show from Leander. It is so so fun! I actually think the toxic part is my least favorite surprisingly. Also- this guard is quickly becoming one of the if not the top guard in texas. What an ambitious program for them! -

I'm certainly no expert and really struggle when it comes to noticing individual marching technique, but I thought it looked really clean throughout. Maybe the uniforms play a trick on me? -

Vandy just got an audible "wow" from me. I cant believe they still have 2 weeks to work on that before GNats. -

Rubisco- in Clear Brook's show, one of the Sirens (a guard member) uses the trident at the end to stab the person who stole from them. Interestingly enough, that wasnt just a band member, but actually one of the drum majors who came down from his post to play that character. -

First time seeing that show for me too. As usual I need to see CTJs show several times before I can really understand it. -

I agree. I just didnt feel engaged in the show really at all... Not that it was ever bad, but I didnt feel like I was watching one of the best marching bands in the state. I felt like I was watching a good marching band put on a fun background show at a weird concert. -

I loved their show last year. Probably more than this year's. But they certainly tackled something much bigger this year. -

Ive never seen a show that is so devoted to a message. You can tell that they are all so passionate about what they are sharing and its really, really moving. I agree that there are aome execution thinga that arent my favorite but I dont want to focus on those right now. JBA should be so proud of all they have accomplished this season and a great performance here today. -

They have pretty good cuatomer service. I'm prettt sure they will switch it out for the 29.99 for you retroactively. -

Flo only has a 150/ year option available which is 12.50 a month for 12 months currently. However, I emailed customer support a few months ago and was able to get their old monthly rate of 30/ month since I only wanted it for 2 months. It took a few days to hear back and they may have only given it to me because I previously had that plan when it was offered. -

You scared me for a moment! I also agree that pearland is in good contention for top 20 and a medal. I havent seen them yet this year so they slipped my mind when making my predictions, but I probably would have included them if I had been thinking properly. -

Great job, Madison! I love that they used the same ballad as Keller 2016- probably my favorite ballad ever. MadisonBandMan1, you should be very proud of your performance and all that you have given these past years. You have shown such a contagious passion for your hard work and it has been fun to watch you growing up and maturing. You have a fan, here!
