  1. I booked my hotel room for this weekend!
  2. I don't think Wakeland is going to BOA San Antonio this year... just Waco and DFW. I had to double check their schedule because I didn't see them on the list! They would definitely be top 40!
  3. I like On The Border, it just depends on my mood which restaurant I go to! My daughter worked for a family owned Mexican restaurant called Chito's... very good if you ever find yourself back in Plano/Frisci area! Happy you were able to move home.. it's good to be near family. I've tried to move Home for many years but don't think it will ever happen.
  4. Thanks for the explanation why the districts are starting sooner. I was wondering how they were getting around late August mandate. Years ago Plano started school the 1st week in August. Then the mandate came out that they couldn't start until the 3rd or 4th week of August. It just totally messed up the whole semester calendar for Plano. My kids were young then so I didn't understand what the big hoopla was because I was just happy not to have my kids start on August 4th anymore I think the reason they moved it back had a lot to do with tourism, high school kids having jobs, and people just still on summer vacation, LOL. Plano starts Aug 13th this year, I guess they applied for District of Innovation.... I hate they start early again. Guess when I took the survey to say "No", I was out voted. Side note... are you saying there were no good Mexican restaurants in Plano/Frisco area? You must have not went to the right places
  5. Not sure, but I do hope when I slip and fall on the said soap that I have a clean landing, LOL.
  6. Oh, Lincolnshire Posy, one of my favorites... lot's of good ones on that list, that one has many fond memories though.
  7. Sorry!!
  8. LOL...
  9. So how does Phantom Regiment tie for 6th place when they didn't even complete? I was just looking at the scores and noticed they had them as 6th across the board? My son enjoyed himself last night but said he doesn't think that stadium was big enough for the event, just way too crowded. He ended up missing the Cavies and the Blue Devils because he finally decided he needed food after 9 pm. His favorite was Crown, but he said they all were good. I have been to that stadium about 4 years ago for a competition and I just remember getting in and out of the parking lot was difficult, but I don't remember it being small. I am sure all the late arrivals because of the Will Call situation and last minute ticket buyers made it more confusing than it normally would have been. I know I would have gone up there an bought a ticket if I could have convinced my husband to go. It ended up being a rather nice night outside
  10. I heard the lines at will call were terrible too at DCI Mesquite I know my son said it was so packed he hasn't gone to get anything to eat as it is just too busy and he would miss too much. Although he did say a friend was sharing snacks and he brought water. Of course if he listened to Mom he would have brought his own snacks, LOL.
  11. Yup, dropped my son off at leadership camp as well!
  12. LOL
  13. So Monday's forecast for DCI Mesquite is 105. I wonder whether they will do the same thing they did in Denton last night and just go with rehearsal attire with no scoring. Although I understand the decision to do that, I also feel sad the people attending don't get the full experience. (Those tickets are not cheap either ). I know my son starts band camp on Monday (Leadership only) and basically goes from 8 am to 4 pm (with a lunch break) and then had to be back at school for a 5:20 departure to go to the DCI contest, so a very long day. I do hope they get to see the real deal, I know he really enjoyed it last year! I was going to try and get my daughter to go with me separately from the band, maybe I can get some cheap tickets somewhere if people don't want to sit in the heat! In a side note, I do find it amazing how much coverage the DCI bands are getting on the news, even if it is weather related! They've had several long segments about them on the news. I laughed because a guy I work with commented that he was surprised they allowed the boys to go shirtless as it was against school policy... and I was like, I think those were the drum corps they were showing and not the high schools. He then proceeded to say, he did see a lot of drums, LOL. Guess he isn't a band geek
  14. They where showing/interviewing the Cavaliers in the news last night. I do believe they have delayed the start of the competition in Denton due to heat. But it will still be 100 degrees at 10 om, LOL. Monday in Mesquite will be toasty too, I know my son's band (or the kids who chose to go) are going to that.
  15. They aren't in the competitive mix in area B, but this came across Plano Senior Bands twitter feed. Kokopelli Dances Check out @PSHS_Band’s Tweet: https://twitter.com/PSHS_Band/status/1016716624232112128?s=01
  16. Guess I will do this, hopefully I can meet some people in San Antonio this year (at least I hope to be there)!! PESHMom - Lynn, mom of Plano East alumni son(clarinet), 2012 - 2014, Plano Senior daughter alumni (clarinet) - 2014-2016, and a current Clark HS son (clarinet) who will go to Plano Senior 2019-2021. They changed our school boundary lines, hence the younger two went or are going to a different Senior High School. I too am a former Clarinet (and Saxophone) player from Wisconsin, but I moved to Texas in 1988 with my job. Although I came from a very successful band program back in Wisconsin (which I am sad to say is no longer the case), I am continually amazed at the level of talent that Texas puts out in their band programs. Of course, there was a little bit of sticker shock too for my first band meeting and the fees I had to pay as well, LOL.
  17. Just had to tease you, you did a pretty good job with the list! PESH has consistently been in the top 40, so I sure hope that continues!
  18. What's crazy about Area B if you look at that list, a few quality bands won't even make the finals! Assuming there are only 10 bands in the finals.
  19. My son is going with his band to the Mesquite one and I might get tickets for it as well.
  20. We had to purchase the Ultimate Drill Book App for my son this year. Not sure what that is or how it is used!
  21. Thanks, I found their show from GN Finals from 2007! Loved the other music in it too!
  22. So my son's band is playing music from Pans Labyrinth which I was not familiar with. Quite a beautiful but haunting music. Has anyone heard that in a show before? He is currently in one of the Non-Varsity bands in Plano (a grade 9/10 school).
  23. I may get laughed at for this, but I would love to see a band put out an "Outlander" show. Bear McCreary put out some beautiful music for the show that I could see translated on the field. Some version of "Veil in Time" (many of the songs have the same type of theme in them) would work great for Color Guard with all the movement. I'm sure they could find more upbeat Scottish music to fill out the battle scenes .
  24. Thanks for the responses, I was just curious. Wasn't sure if that was just a Plano thing or not! I know for me the trip years (out of state) were pretty expensive, and I also know they have to get it approved from the administration as well.
