  1. I will be going to this contest as my son is in the Clark HS Band in Plano (9th and 10th grade only). I wasn't sure about the 4A bands listed and how good they are. We are trying to figure out if they have a chance at Finals or not. With two 6A bands and two 5A bands, I would assume they would make finals. so that would leave only 6 spots. Not looking good if all the other 4A schools are state finalist! But they have a good band, so we'll see!
  2. I know a few bands going, but only from checking out the calendars. TOC, which is this Saturday just posted theirs, so hopefully PEMI will follow shortly. I have been checking their site but haven't seen anything yet.
  3. Official Schedule: Sanger 2:45 RL Turner 3:00 Frisco 3:15 Creekview 3:30 Lebanon Trail 3:45 McKinney North 4:00 Break………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. Rowlett 4:30 Carroll 4:45 Centennial Frisco 5:00 Plano East 5:15 Byron Nelson 5:30 Newman Smith Carrollton Exhibition 5:45
  4. I didn't get there last night but really wanted to see bith bands. Glad they looked good. Trying to find a video of either band but so far no success!
  5. It's late Friday afternoon and the skies are clear in north Texas! We should actually get a few halftime shows in this week!
  6. Things are looking promising for this Friday... keeping fingers and toes crossed! Although, my son's game tonight is questionable, LOL. (Clark HS is a 9th/10th grade Non-varsity band).
  7. It was really bad last night. I heard about the man, very sad. Some really bad flooding in areas.
  8. Plano East game was rescheduled to today at 10:30 am. Not sure if the band will be attending. Still raining, but the lightening has subsided at least. They are playing in the new McKinney stadium, guess we will see how well the drainage is for that field after 7 inches of rain in the last 24 hours Plano West was rescheduled to tonight. We saw their band truck driving home (or maybe it was rowing home!) from dinnr last night. My coworker is part of the equipment crew and she says she has spent the last 3 Fridays sitting in the parking lot waiting on lighting delays, only to just pick up and go home with no show, LOL. Plano Senior actually moved their game from Friday to Thursday and actually got a perfomance in, although even thursday they had a long lightning delay. But I got to see their new uniforms and they look pretty nice! (YouTube Plano Senior Band - Kokopelli Dances). There is rain in the forecast all week, including next Friday again. PESH plays Prosper next weekend and I would love to be able to go to that game to get a peek at both of their shows!
  9. Well the good news is I think we are officially out of the drought
  10. Wow... 3 weekends in row. What's a band to do?
  11. I love their shows... no doubt about that! And I appreciate the info on the uniforms as well. I am pretty sure a number of other schools also have a second "show" uniform that is easier to change up and remove or add things to make it appear new (Flower Mound comes to mind). Ever since I first saw CTJ in 2012 at the BOA Denton regional (I had no idea what BOA even was back then), I have always loved what they put out there on the field.
  12. I agree with you. I like the glitz and glamour too, but at some point I think it just gets to be too much , especially for high school. If you look at their website they definitely have tons of sponsors and they must have some great fundraisers too to afford everything. But I use to like seeing a band and knowing who they were just by the uniforms, but it's all going away from that. I was watching the Madison Scouts show and I kept thinking who are you and what have you done with the Scouts? LOL.
  13. I agree, it is so nice to be at competitions and have everyone cheer for everyone else. I also think it's really nice when all of the schools within a district really cheer for other schools in the same, like Marcus, Flower Mound and Hebron all really support each other. I wish the Plano schools would have that same support for each other! I know I pretty much stand up for every single band myself, they all deserve it! I think the thing that is really hard with this Area competition is that some really quality bands are not only going to be left out of state, but also out of finals all together. I haven't seen any shows yet so I don't know how excited I should be and for which schools! I am excited to see Haltom's show as I love the music and can't wait to see how it all comes together, but I am equally excited to see PESH's show as I know the music for their show and it is awesome as well and I hope they can put it all together. Just so many possibilities and so many great bands in this Area... it will be interesting to see if any of the up and coming bands can knock Keller, Coppell, or LD Bell out... yet I would be sorry to see any of these great bands not make it to state! All so deserving.
  14. If you start Oct 19th it would go until Nov 19th.
  15. Yes, I forgot to cancel mine one time!
  16. I see it as 29.99 a month for a monthly subscription, or 12.50 a month for a year ($150). I normally do one or two months, depending on what the schedule is and if I can watch or not. But if you want to see some of the DCI corps and see all of the BOA shows, it could be worth the year subscription, definitely the better deal. You can just get an account on their FloMarching site, then it will ask if you want a Premium one, which is what you have to pay for.
  17. Unfortunately even when there has only been a slight chance of rain the last two weeks the sky's seemed to open up in Plano (and surrounding areas) just around game time... so lightning delays and lots of rain for the games. And of course, it's been sunny the last few days but there is 60% change of rain on Friday evening again... hope we the get 40% clear skies this time, LOL.
  18. I don't know about Hebron and FloMo but I know that the Plano schools halftime performances have been cancelled the past two weekends due to weather. Haven't had the opportunity to see how their shows are looking yet!
  19. I had to look at where Liberty-Eylau's was Good luck to them!
  20. If Plano East can put the show together along with the music I know they are playing, they might be able to sneak into state (which is going to be a tough task in Area B . ) However until I can see their show it's hard to say. I really don't think their band/color guard is big enough to make it to BOA finals though.
  21. Thanks! Plano had some weird game last Friday against El Paso, the band was rained out, but the football team still played. I was hoping the El Paso band didn't make that 650 mile trip! They were supposed to have a big "combined" band thing at half time with Plano Senior and the two feeder schools (9/10 grade high schools) which my son is in, but they never made it off the bus
  22. I have no idea what district Plano East plays in anymore... I know they played LD Bell, Lake Highlands already, and play Prosper, Sachse, Allen and McKinney, McKinney Boyd, Jesuit, along the other two Plano schools this season. At least they get to play in the Allen stadium and the New McKinney isd stadium this year, very nice venues.
  23. Wow, I didn't even realize you could even get those! I was just looking at the $52 ones for the 2 prelim days and the finals. Don't think I could talk the hubby into the VIP ones, LOL. I have to wait though as I am not sure who all is attending with me, other than me Pretty sure my youngest son will be there, but still trying to convince others to go with us!
  24. Are those the ones on TicketMaster (reserved in the 300 sections?)
