I wish PESH would do an exhibition show at their invitational. Curious what improvements have been made since BOA DFW. Excited to see the FloMo and Hebron shows live tomorrow. As well as many of the other bands as well. My son bailed on for tomorrow evening (for the finals), so hopefully I can talk my husband into going!.

Does anyone know anyrhing about Seven Lakes? The band director there use to teach years ago at Clark HS in Plano and made a huge impact there. Clark is a 9th and 10th grade school and he moved on eventually to a higher level position. Now he is at Seven Lakes and I can't help wonder about the band.
-
I wasn't sure what was going on with Sachse as I thought they were going to Wylie. Are they going to both? That will be a long day for those kids! Also, I don't have have any kids at PESH anymore, I just got the schedule because my son is in the Clark band and will be performing earlier. I don't have any inside information about who may or may not stay for finals, I just saw there were 10 spots available .

Sorry, all of the 6A-NV schools are the Plano "Non Varsity" school bands. Plano has 6 High Schools which are just grades 9th and 10th, and then their Senior High Schools which are just 11th and 12th. So basically they serve as the feeder schools to the 3 Senior High Schools (Plano East, Plano West, and Plano Senior) . It is Frisco Centennial (I googled their band calendar ).
-
Pretty good lineup for this! I know I will be going (well my son is in the Clark HS band, so I will go regardless of who is there!) All 10 bands will make finals (the 6A-NV bands don't compete for that). Plano - 6A-NV bands: Vines HS 6A- NV 11:30 AM Sheption HS 6A- NV 11:45 AM Williams HS 6A- NV 12:00 PM Clark HS 6A- NV 12:15 PM McMillen HS 6A- NV 12:30 PM Jasper HS 6A- NV 12:45 PM 6A NV AWARDS CEREMONY Frisco HS 5A 1:30 PM Arlington Bowie HS 1:45 PM Heritage HS 5A 2:00 PM Newman Smith HS 2:15 PM Centennial HS 5A 2:30 PM Duncanville HS 6A 2:45 PM BREAK Granbury HS 3:15 PM Hebron HS 6A 3:30 PM Sachse HS 6A 3:45 PM Flower Mound HS 4:00 PM

I really liked Summit's show and don't think they deserved last in music either . I absolutely loved their dancer in the pre-show! I thought the PESH was scored a little low in music as well, but I'm not sure if it was because I was watching live stream or what, but on the last movement of their show (that they completed on Saturday) , it almost sounded like maybe one of the microphones was left on as the battery was very loud over the band. It could have been something with the live stream though. I was excited to see more than a single prop or two for PESH as well Congrats to all the bands that competed, so many wonderful shows! My husband even gave up his big screen TV so I could watch all the performances that day! (well I didn't start until noon, but after that I saw all the bands and finals).
-
I really loved Hebrons show. Just great musically. Happy they won, but I was surprised! Thought Coppell would have been higher.
-
I haven't seen their show this year, so it's hard to say. I just know that for PESH, they tend to finish their shows later so I don't expect them to have a complete show tomorrow. I went to my first BOA in Denton back in 2012 when my son was at school there. It was my first real experience with the Texas marching bands at that level. PESH did "The Bells" that year and although it was good, it wasn't up to the level of the other bands at that time. There were no finals that year as they were rained out. They did however take that show to the finals in San Antonio, so even if they don't make it here, don't count them out for SA Unfortunately with the school realignment back a few years ago we now go to Plano Senior, so no more BOA for me as a band parent, but I still may see if I can talk my son to go with me tomorrow.
-
Glad to hear this. I ended up loving their show last year when they finally finished it. I don't have anymore kids there, but was there for their "The Bells" and "PUSH" shows. I just know that this DFW BOA contest is so early that I wonder whether PESH will even have their show done in time as the usually take longer to put it together.

Thanks, that got me in!

For those who are watching the streaming video, how long did it take for Mr Video send you the link to the live stream? My order completed over an hour ago and still waiting for the link to get in. I keep checking my email (inbox and junk). I did receive that my order was placed so I know my email address was correct.
-
Great, thank you!
-
For the streaming video, if you log in, will you be able to rewind the live video feed to see some of the bands I missed? I remember being able to do this previous years, but can't remember exactly how it worked, or if that was still an option or not.

2016 BOA San Antonio

I have to chime in about the quality of the live stream too. The sound was terrible, but since I had to mirror from my phone (couldn't log in thru either of my TV's for some reason) I thought it might have been that. Was also disappointed with the camera work. I know they like to zoom in on kids from time to time, but you really lose the effect of the show when you don't show what is happening on the other parts of the fields. I started to get irritated when Reagan was on and the kept going back to the singer and I really just wanted to see what was happening on the field! And sound wise, none of the bands sounded good and I know that the dome "rings" with music when those bands are playing! It was all so muffled. -

It so hard to tell watching the streamimg video how the bands sound and even if they march clean since they keep zooming in on individual performers. So I just appreciate the Plano East mention -
Yes, when people where complaining about the judging at area B this year (and PESH moving up to take the 5th spot at finals), I just kept thinking about how one judge totally thru PESH under the bus at state in 2012. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I know one judge had them marked like 2nd to last in music when the other judges had them closer to the top. But it is what it is so you just accept it and move on knowing you did a great job. I for one wouldn't want to judge these bands, they are all so good. (I'm not justifying anything from the Area B Finals, I wasn't there for the Finals that night, I just know many were upset about the outcome and how the judges could be so far off)

Oops sorry. I was thinking my son had her for one year at PESH as I remember being in contact with her, but I forgot he was a "Roadie" with the band his sophomore year before. (PESH is only years 11 and 12 so they have kids at the 9/10 high schools help with equipment at football games).
-
If it makes you feel any better, after PESH went to state with The Bells in 2012 over the Circus Show, I believe our Associate Band Director left and went to FloMo at the end of the year! She is really good And I did enjoy the Circus show very much too

According to the Texas UIL site, the competition will have a live stream thru Mr. Video. I can' post a link for some reason, or I would put it here. I just did a search on Texas UIL State Marching and page came up with the information.

2016 6A Area B

So sorry that is hard on the kids to always finish just one short. I loved their show yesterday. Being an old clarinet player I have to say I loved the solo. That was one of the reasons Plano Senior (not to be confused with Plano East!) Made the decisions not to go to area for many years. The band director at the time just thought the kids stopped enjoying band and became too stressed. Plano was back again this year after a long absence but there are times I can agree with what he did. But at the same time they work so hard you want them at least try -

When I saw PESH last week at UIL I wasn't sure about their show. When I saw it again today my mouth dropped. Last night was the first time they ran the whole show with the heart prop. So proud of the PESH band for going for it and making it to state. They moved up 4 spots from prelims to finals! Congrats to all the bands. Love the Texas bands! -

I left too. Too much of a headache sitting in the sun. Trying to convince my younger son to go back for finals assuming Plano East makes it. Wish I could watch it online!
