  1. http://www.txbands.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1725 There's a topic for these kinds of posts.
  2. I expected him to do well, actually. He got some good blocking last night, too. On that note, I think the Cowboys offensive line just doesn't like Drew Bledsoe, amirite?
  3. Haha, you should write down the recaps from your board and post them on here. I'm serious.
  4. Yes, that is very conceited, considering there are states out there with incredible bands that are on par with the upper echelon of Texas bands. Lassiter, Marian Catholic, Carmel, Kennesaw Mountains, Avon, Tarpon Springs, Broken Arrow, Owasso, etc... are but a few of bands that could compete on the same level as Texas bands. I would, though, say that Texas has the largest concentration of bands. Edit: Whoops. I spelled Marian wrong.
  5. lol, LD Bell. That is, if they can overcome Marcus.
  6. It really doesn't matter, because they're not in that position. They have ample time to drive from San Antonio to Indy for a prelims performance.
  7. Wow, I like those a lot. Haha the snare in the middle kinda threw me off... I thought something was wrong with his legs upon glancing.
  8. Because you keep whining about it. pwned, yes?
  9. Yeah, I really like that red design on the left side of their uniform. They even made use of it during their show by flashing that arm in various ways. Do you have any pics of Colleyville Heritage?
  10. Haha, I like how the general consensus is "A lot." But, really, yea it's true. Texas has a HUGE array of extremely talented bands. Throw in the BOA vs. UIL argument and you have two completely different styles of bands. Duncanville with their extreme UILness, but undoubtedly one of the best playing bands in the nation. Marcus with their crazy props of crabs and fish and other odd sea creatures. Just too many to name.
  11. I'll have to take advantage of that this time around.
  12. I fell asleep on the bus ride back to school from San Antonio. Apparently, people fed me while I was sleeping and I ate it. I woke up with the taste of sour cream and onion Pringles in my mouth.
  13. Wow, I'm kinda surprised you're responding to a topic that's OVER A YEAR OLD!!! This competition happened LAST YEAR. Don't bump incredibly old topics. By the way, welcome to the forums.
  14. Indeed. Constructive criticism is essential to making yourself better. And I wouldn't be so hasty to challenge someone to play something. You never know when the person on the other side of that computer is an incredibly gifted player.
  15. I was under the impression that rule only applied for prelims/finals and not to advancing to Area. At least, that's what I understand it to say.
  16. I think you should calm down a little bit and try not to use so many exclamation points.
  17. What are you trying to prove here? The camcorders were rolling the entire time. I should know, since I was one of the ones recording.
  18. Haha, that's what I was thinking as well.
  19. Haha, that could theoretically help a band. If the band had a horrible attack at the same moment a plane flew over, nobody would ever know.
  20. Haha, I think they were just very, very excited. From what I've heard, not making state last year was a big motivation for doing so this year, so everyone was very pumped when they made it. You gotta admit, though, that you would be extremely excited, too, if it was your first year in 5A, and you made state at one of the most difficult Area competitions. I was very happy for them, and the video I got was priceless.
  21. Xenon, do you have the full results of the finals? I've been looking but unfortunately, Google sucks horribly when trying to find marching band results.
  22. This is an absolutely brilliant idea. And man, does the BOA forums lag like crazy on finals night. It's insane! Of course, it all adds to the flavor of anticipation and suspense.
  23. Haha, I've seen pieces like that "Ballad for Roland" thing before. We had one in our band library called... oh geez I can't remember. I'll try to figure it out though. And flutter tonguing... Think of the "r" sound in spanish... the kinda rolled sound. Play your saxophone and do that. That's basically flutter tonguing. You also have diddle tonguing, where you tongue the reed on the bottom of the tip of the reed and then on the top of the reed. It sounds very cool when you can find someone that does it well. One of my friends was a beast at it. Incidentally, he was at 4A state last year. Mculbert07, did you ever meet James? I think he was first chair at 4A state last year.
  24. I like how you edited that part into the other post and then post here like you said it the whole time.
