Really?? Well, heck, now I really wanna see them! No, seriously, I've always liked their guard. I mean, who doesn't? -
Y chromosome ftw Who hates going to work?

OMG LIES!!! I don't know, actually. That would suck if they weren't. I really wanted to see them this year... Well, maybe just the guard. Haha. -
2006 UIL State

I really didn't see any antagonizing comments that Xenon made, so how could he lay off? There's nothing offensive about his statements. -
Tuba solos
itsstephenyo replied to RichlandTuba09's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
Yes, you're the greatest tuba soloist I've ever heard. Satisfied? -
To start out with, yes, it is. But like all things, you get better at it with practice.

I loved Region band tryouts. One year, we were in a health class or something and on the wall were random names of venereal diseases. So as I was walking up to the seat, I looked up and saw the words "pubic lice." I almost screwed up on my etude because I was still laughing.

Haha fortunately, I never could diddle tongue, so I kinda just... didn't. I guess it saved me a bloody tongue. You know what's a lot of fun though... is trying to use really, really odd syllables to tongue. "Guacamole" or "alligator" are two that I remember we used to try.
-
Hahha it's funny that you said it cut your tongue but not in a macabre way. One football game, James was messing around with diddle tonguing and and about 5 minutes later I looked at his reed and said, "Holy crap, dude. Your reed is red." He had cut his tongue while diddle tonguing. It took us about the whole game to figure out what was bleeding. Haha we had a good kick out of it afterwards.
-
No, but you fail horribly at this game. Agreed?
-
Hahha really?? Westfield 2003 Grand Nationals Champion. That's pretty big to me. Spring 1993 Grand Nationals Champion. That's pretty big to me. Richland Grand Nationals Finalists, 7th? place, I think. That's pretty big to me. Marcus 3rd place at BOA SA and high music caption over Reagan, who won the music caption at Grand Nats last year. That's pretty big to me. Truthfully, my honest opinion is that if you don't consider those bands to be "big bands" in Texas, you're an idiot.

Bands of America (BOA)
itsstephenyo replied to mbui's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Even if you didn't mean it, that question if VERY offensive. Marching band in Texas is a vast and competitive sport. In order for a band to get better, they need see and compete with great bands. This is a chance to expose them to those bands. -
Oh, that's a really hard question. Tchaikovsky, Johan de Meij, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Bartok, Bruckner, Wagner.... I could name 1000 of 'em. Anybody watch Heroes tonight?

That sounds awfully similar to something that happened to me after Area four years ago... -
Area F

I had that same feeling when I saw them at BOA Arlington. Granted, that was almost 4 weeks ago, but they seemed not to do much. -
Area B Contest

That's fine. I'd still like to see the judges' thoughts about the top six. I'm sure we could just place numbers randomly for the next spots and be pretty accurate. I mean, isn't that what UIL judges do anyway?
