  1. I very much agree with your last statement. As one of my friends put it, "Bands are getting so good at pleasing both BOA and UIL." Three out of four of the top bands at State also placed in the top 4 at San Antonio a few days before.
  2. Obviously you don't know what BOA is about. It's not about flashiness and props. It's about the show as a total package. Show design and GE factor in a large part, but if you can't play and march in a BOA show, you don't get anywhere. Heck, part of GE is the playing aspect. If you have really good music on paper, but can't play worth a crap, you're not gonna get those GE points. Same goes for marching. Saying that BOA is all about props and colorguard is... well, just not smart.
  3. lol pwned, amirite?
  4. Well, if you're considering quitting, I don't believe you'd exactly be the prime example of leadership. Being drum major isn't just "cool." It's really taxing work. If you're going to be in band, be in there because you love to do it not because you think "it'd be cool to be drum major."
  5. I'm sure the game was on Friday and the dance on Saturday.
  6. How about they just get rid of the ranking system altogether? It's obvious that it doesn't work, year after year, yet UIL continues to hope that the next 5A competition won't SUCK as horribly as the one before. Add a field judge to score individual marching and one to judge music and get rid of the ranking system. Heck, I don't even care if they don't take into account GE. At the very least, let's give consistent scores.
  7. Mmm I love A Movement for Rosa and Russian Christmas Music. I wish I was still in band...
  8. Sure, having a director that knows how to clean drill is good, but having easy drill also helps a ton. I've seen Coppell several times this year. I was not impressed visually. Clean, yes. But wow, they barely move compared to other bands.
  9. BOA Super Regional Finals > UIL State Finals At least from an entertainment point of view. To me, at least. I wasn't at State, but just by the names and past shows, I could tell it wasn't near as exciting as BOA SA.
  10. What I don't get about that is why they didn't use the rule that they have IN THE RULEBOOK. Instead, they just went head to head between bands, instead of doing the correct way of rescoring the bands. Chalk up another one for UIL.
  11. Haha, in past Super Regionals, I remember I used to sit and hope that we broke an 85 and then Hebron goes and gets a 89.3. I was astounded.
  12. I'm sure UIL is going to award a bronze to both Churchill and Duncanville now. I believe they did the same thing a few years back in the 2A or 1A marching competition. A band got announced champion, but upon inspection, the second place band received two 1's in music and a 1 in marching. Thus, THEY should've been state champs. As a result, that year there were 2 state champs. Edit: It happened in 2003 at the 1A State Finals. Sundown and Throckmorton were announced as Co-State Champions.
  13. You're just saying that because Alan Iron said that in his review. Just kidding, of course!
  14. Except there's a rule in the rulebook specifically for this type of thing. And following the rule in the rulebook, Churchill gets the bronze. Am I going to have to go through it again?
  15. Being an alum, I am extremely proud of Hebron's accomplishments this year. I was kinda afraid of them going 5A this year, but they rose to the occasion and even made it to state. Bravo, Hebron. Your alumni support you. As for show ideas, I hope they do something really awesome. I'm sure they will.
  16. Yea, just hit me up on IM sometime tomorrow.
  17. No, they shouldn't. Once you rescore it, like you should, you get these numbers. Churchill- 2 1 2 2 2 = 9 Duncanville- 3 2 1 3 1= 10 Reagan- 1 3 3 1 3 = 11 This IS the normal judges' preference rule.
  18. I actually didn't catch it. Saxplaya on these forums told me about it. I just wrote about it.
  19. I have one but not on the laptop I'm using. I can get it to u later, though.
  20. Through judges' preference, Churchill scored higher than Duncanville in three judges' eyes, thus giving them the 3rd place spot. UIL owes Churchill an apology and a bronze medal.
  21. By the rulebook, Churchill should be third instead of Duncanville.
  22. I'm quite sure L. D. Bell has already proven themselves as being both BOA and UIL capable. 2 BOA Regional championships and 2nd at State. You can't ask for much more. Except a Grand National championship...
  23. Hey, that's great you're proud of your band. You should be. Langham Creek does good things at UIL. There's no reason to yell at somebody for not knowing a fact.
  24. Haha I like how your first statement was just "NO, THEY DON'T!! YOU'RE WRONG!!!" Perhaps you shouldn't sound like a complete **** next time. Edit: I censored myself.
