Yeah this is literally area F part 1. I’d be funny if Azle, assuming they don’t make finals( which they most likely won’t due to how stacked boa prosper is) and are able too come to this after their prelims run come here. It doesn’t like Aledo is going to the prosper regional, at least they don’t have it on the boa website, so maybe they are coming here instead?

UIL 5A State Marching Contest 2023

I do agree, I think Wakeland will take both Rouse and Leander, assuming them having a new head director doesn’t make to much of an impact, but considering that he’s Timber Creeks most recent director, they should be fine. I do see them having a chance at the gold as well, it won’t be easy, but I’d be super shocked if they aren’t top 3. -
I’d love for them to be able to break into that group. I mean, they kind of already have, and it’s not that I hate PR Mandis or Cadets, it’s just fun when cores starting beating others that they haven’t all season, hence causing….Drama🤪But their show has really started to grow on me, and their percussion is such a treat to listen to. Things should be Very interesting tonight.

UIL 5A Area C 2023

That’s what I hope they do. As a Lovejoy Alumn, this program is at the level of a state participation, but due to the difficulty of Area B, we never made it, but all the other bands in area B or so good, and only 4 too state makes it even more difficult to make it- 109 replies

Edit: Okay so I will 100% be here, will do recaps of all bands both in prelims and finals, very excited to see all these programs! Finals preds below, might edit after week one of comps: 1st: FlowerMound(caption sweep) 2nd: Lone Star 3rd: Lake Ridge 4th: Lebanon Trail 5th: Mckinney North 6th: Mckinney Boyd 7th: Lovejoy 8th: Birdville 9th: Walnut Grove 10th: Mckinney/Allen/Midlothian/reedy honestly, it’s gonna be a pretty big fight for that last spot. I’d even say WG and Birdville aren’t necessarily safe/locks, but 1st-7th bands should all make finals relativity easy.

I hope so too. There are so too many bands in area B that would easily make it here and are on that top of the middle tier that don’t. Forney is really the only super strong program here, and if they become 6A soon, this area will literally be a joke in terms of depth. Not that the other programs here are bad, but none are even kind of comparable to any of the finalist in area B. They need to move some of the Area B bands here.- 109 replies

UIL 5A Area F 2023

I completely forgot about Burleson Centennial! I’d definitely say they are probably locked for that 3rd, maybe even second spot, and the true battle is for forth. -

I’d say Aledo is gonna win again, probably will for a while. CH will most likely be second, I’d say 3rd and 4th could be many bands (Azle,Richland, Midlothian, Brewer, Birdville, Summit) just depends on whose strongest the evening of. -

Forney will obviously win. 2nd and 3rd will probably be Poteet and NM, but I could see Red Oak or Pine Tree taking 3rd if they come out strong.- 109 replies

2023 Show Announcements
Tubalord11 replied to Skillet2019's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Can’t wait to see y’all at the Prosper regional!!! This show looks dope as heck, and Ik Forney is once again going to do great. Y’all’s 2021 is still one of my favorite shows ever, and I wish y’all the best of luck this year! -
Yes they are looking so good, and really are starting to lock everything in! Perc still needs to be addressed and cleaned, as they went down .2 from Mesquite. But other then that, looking like they could take the silver or bronze, possibly the Gold(unlikely but possible).
-
McKinney was just so amazing!!! Getting to see crown live again was such a treat! Everyone is starting to lock in, and you can feel we are starting to slowly approach the finish line. Just amazing performances all around, and y’all, that Crown guard, un-freaking believable!!!
-
Some FANTASTIC performances tonight at Mesquite! I’m so excited for another day of live performances tomorrow at McKinney. Crown over BAC tonight was a Huge surprise, but Crown is really pulling for a medal, snd I think they’re gonna get it. Really happy to see Crossmen up where they are, of course I really want PC to make finals, but of course I want CM to as well, it’s gonna be tight for 12th. Some crazy jumps all around score wise for a lot of the cores tonight. Going to be a battle all season long from 1st to 12th.

UIL 5A State Marching Contest 2023
Tubalord11 replied to Dave609's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Yeah Lebanon is definitely ahead of Argyle and Melissa for sure. I’m thinking that area will play out something like this: 1st: Wakeland 2nd: Lone Star 3rd: Lebanon Trail 4th: McKinney North 5th: Argyle 6th: The Colony (assuming they are still as strong) 7th: Lovejoy (new staff for them) 8th: Independence 9th/10th: Walnut Grove, Centennial, Melissa, Liberty The bottom 5 could be between anyone, but I’d be surprised if the top 5 wasn’t this, unless a certain band somehow is stronger than the others at the top. I wouldn’t say Argyle is top 5 guaranteed seeing how they placed at area prelims, but again, even finals was super close in terms of scores. -

I really hope Mckinney can make finals this year. I was really devastated when they didn't in 2021 after having such a successful year at their other comps, seems like they also do well are at least make finals at everything but area, so hoping they make it this year. -
Good Morning everyone! Now that I'm fully recovered from the 4 hour drive I had to made back to Mckinney from SA at 11 in the evening, I've decided to do a little breakdown, because after seeing all of these groups live, many for the first time, it really goes to show how much flo doesn't do these bands justice in terms of sound and volume. Nothing too surprising about placements, seems like Perc was what killed Crown over Bloo, but considering they were 3rd in GE still gives me hope that they can medal, but it's going to be tight till the end. everyone sounded fantastic last night, but here was my personal overview: BD: getting to watch any dci core live is going to make you understand just how good sounding these cores are, but the fact that a group can be literally RUNNING and sound SO GOOD is just crazy to me, yet BD did stuff like that, and sounded and looked so good doing so. Any hate I have for this program is gone, and they have nothing but my respect, as I've fully grasped as to why they win as much as they do. BAC: this was the show imo that really sounded so much better live than on flo. I'm not surprised at all that they won brass, because that was a first-place brass performance. They just blew the roof off of the dome for the entire show, and that guard is SO FING GOOD!!! I think they could top BD, ima be honest with ya'll. It's not likely, but I mean they are playing with such controlled sounds, and it's just overall an amazing show, and that perc is so good. Was very surprised that guard was 3rd, but BD's and BC's guard threw down. Also, LOVE LOVE LOVE the tarp at the end, everyone was flipping out, myself included at the end. BC: I've already said how I feel about this show. They sound Incredible, tons of GE, just isn't my cup of tea. guard is such a treat to watch though. Crown: I'm so happy I get to see this show again on Tuesday, because I mean, Guard, awesome, Brass...... I mean, while they may not have been the cleanest, I'm still so shook every time I watch this show. It's just so refreshing to the ear, and they are executing this show at such a high level. Guard is awesome, I love the percussion, obviously they've got some cleaning to do, and it wasn't their best visual run, but it's only going to get better. Mandarins/PR/Cadets: Really felt the same about all 3 of these shows: HOLY S##T, these guys can play, and they can play really freaking loud. what these 3 programs are doing is awesome, they all sounded so good in the dome, absolutely blew my mind, and I see why it was so close, and it's going to be super close between these groups until finals. I mean, I was just wowed by the sound these 3 cores created, was unbelievable. It's going to be real interesting to see how mandarins and cadets do back-to-back (I'm hoping they are) on Tuesday. And that Cadets show really had me in tears, it's so freaking beautiful. Phantom and Mandarins just blew my face off. Cavalieres/ BS: Both sounded really good. Defiantly not on the same level in terms of demand as everyone else, but boy did these 2 cores play the heck out of their shows. Cavis perc was so much fun to listen too, not surprised at all they came up on top, and I'm really starting to enjoy the Blue Stars show a lot. Colts/Troopers/PC: all sounded phenomenal. Colts don't have my favorite show design wise, but they sounded really good. LOVED troopers show, can't wait to see that again, and I really loved PC's show, especially from a concept standpoint. Music is very intriguing, and you can tell they want to be in finals this year, but BK's are putting up a fight, and they also sounded really good. Overall, an incredible day of DCI, hopefully I'm able to go back to the Dome next year. Good luck to all the cores for the remainder of the season!

Well, BD, I mean, it’s just, how, and thank you for that incredible performance.

Keller is just getting their assist director as their new head so they should be fine, and TC is getting Martins most recent director, so I’m sure they will be fine to. -

Tubalord11 replied to Dave609's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Idk if Melissa is gonna be top 5. They are good, but Imo, it’s gonna take them a while to get towards the top. Argyle was barely 4th last year, placing 8th in prelims, and honestly, the top 4-9 last year wad modestly close, and area was awful weather wise. I think they definitely have a chance at finals, but they won’t come out as strong as Argyle. Argyle is just built different. -
HOLY CRAP BOSTON!!! I mean wow wow WOW! They are going to be riding and possibly pass BD all season, bc my %### that was good! Flo doesn’t do any of these band Justice, bc everyone has been SO LOUD and clean tonight, scores are gonna be real tight tonight.
-
Everyone has been phenomenal in this last block!!! After seeing BC in person side by side to Crown, I don’t see how they could ever beat crown. While I appreciate the visual work, crown is miles ahead in terms of music difficulty, especially on the move. Other than the Mellos, all of BCs hard stuff is done standing still or doing visuals, while le crown is doing hard stuff on the move. And the voice overs, it’s too much. The sound incredible, but it’s not one the same level as the other 3, doubt it ever will be. Absolutely LOVED everyone tonight, let’s go BAC snd BD!
-
I’ve seen everyone from Music City and my god, everyone had sounded phenomenal!!! Everyone just gets better and better, can’t wait for top 10. Really really loved SOA and Academy, can’t wait for everyone at the top to blow my face off.
