I think they did sometime between 13-15, but never placed higher than 8th. I’d love for them to return but making finals here is a challenge on its own

You’re bold for putting DS that high! Definitely not impossible, but I don’t see them over Cedar Park, and getting top 5 definitely won’t be easy. Ik they are going to GN’s so maybe that’s given them a boost, but they definitely have a strong shot at finals.

Does anyone know if Azle is just not doing UIL area/state this year? I’m very surprised they are still on here considering it’s the day of 5A area, but maybe this year they are more boa focused?

they should be fine. Wakeland was the 2nd band to go on at this comp last year around this time and won their class and finished second overall so Lovejoy will be fine. I'd imagine it's because they have region later in the day, it's not till 2:45, so they will have time to rest, rehearse some more, and then come back here after for retreat. I've seen the first two parts of the show, and they look and sound fantastic for this part of the year. Tons of GE both musically and visually. I just don't see them not winning their class. Grapevine is really the other band imo that has the potential to win it, but they aren't close to the same "tier" as Lovejoy, and Lovejoy will be performing in much cooler weather, which will definitely be a factor for Grapevine. So unless Lovejoy has a bad performance, they should win their class still.

This comp will be on September 23rd. Here is the current bands that are going per their calendars, I'm almost 100% sure Lovejoy is only doing prelims due to having homecoming in the evening, so we will have a new champion this year. Yeah, after seeing Wakeland I agree, at least from a visual standpoint. Musically it’s still a pretty challenging show, at least what I’ve seen imo, but I’d say the most likely will land in 3rd.

I think they may not have realized as I didn’t that Bowie was coming here lol, it’s definitely gonna shake things up! While we don’t have CR anymore, this may be the strongest lineup for the Katy regional ever! It’s gonna be bloodbath to get into finals this year!

Switch Aledo and Forney for me and this is mine. I could see Wakeland, Keller and Marcus all switching, but it's gonna be a great comp, and yes, 12 in finals.

I personally think that we should add contest that have Tx bands competing, such as BOA Las Cruces, however, it is a Texas bands website, but I don’t think people would care that much if at all 🤷‍♂️

As an alumn I very much appreciate this! I’ve seen their first two movements, and while visually it’s talking some time to clean, mainly bc it’s a lot of harder stuff, they sound VERY LOUD and good for their size! I think while they wont make finals, they may place higher than some expect, and I think they will have another very successful season. It’s a great show with tons of visual GE and the music selections are great, and the kids are performing it so well right now! Unfortunately they’ll only be doing prelims at golden Triangle this year due to homecoming being that evening, but it’ll be fun to see how they do at Wylie and here! I’d imagine they’ll win their class, so we’ll get to see them again in the evening!

Mustang is no longer on the participation list so it would seem they are officially no longer coming here At least they will still be at midland for those going/watching live, but this contest is stacked enough as it is, and I'd imagine they would have made finals here so that now opens up a spot for another band to sneak into the top 12!

Yes, Princeton does exhibition here. Frisco Liberty and Melissa are the only bands Ik currently, but I’ll do some looking later Edit: Celina and South Grand Prairie are also currently registered.

I’ll throw mine in bc why not! I think Cy-Woods is going to become a new regional champion this year!! Of course I could see 7L, Cy-Fair or maybe WE take this one, but I’m rooting for Wood! I agree. I also don’t see Wylie East nor Forney not making finals behind McKinney North or Boyd, or Keller Central or Rockhill, but anything could happen here
