There’s a video of Wakelands performance during ht against Grapevine and MY GOD, they sound so good! This year will somehow be better than last, but the drill is really clean for this early in the season, and it’s just really powerful sounds! They definitely didn’t lose anything with the new director, and will still be dominating as usual. It’s hard to determine their power music wise bc it seems that this system or whatever the account uses to stream the performances always make the volume of the bands way higher than they actually are, but regardless they sounded incredible. -

Just watched the ht shows and I agree on everything. I hate how they have the guys taking over vista, but they sounded good from what I heard 🤷♂️ I also very much Love JB’s mucus book. Seems like they are taking the drill a little slower which imo is good with making finals at nats the season goal, and they are starting out strong! -
2023 BOA Prosper (Oct. 14)

YAY! If Rockhill makes finals here, I'd really and happy I'll get to see them again. I LOVED their show from last year, and I can't wait to see what they bring to the field this season! -
2023 BOA DFW (Oct. 7)
Tubalord11 replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
They will be completely fine. I think much like @LeanderMommasaid in the Austin reginal form, going early, especially considering how hot it's been recently is probably not a super band thing anymore. Considering they have been on a role recently; they should easily make finals. It's much like how Cedar Park was both last year and this year, and they were 3rd in both prelims and finals. I think bands are going to start to realize that going earlier, especially in outdoor venues, is not as bad as people make it out to be. -
2023 BOA DFW (Oct. 7)

I LOVE that Flomo and Hebron are going back-back, as well as Lone Star and Wakeland. I was hoping I’d be able to go again but unfortunately college marching band duties call, but at least I get to go to Prosper and I’ll be going to 6A area C to watch Hebron incase I’m not able to go to nats live. Would love to see some new faces in finals, maybe Lebanon Trial will slip in, but it’s gonna be another super stacked Bedford regional per the usual. -
2023 BOA Austin (Sept. 23)

I wouldn’t be complaining if I were them, especially with how hot this summer has been, but i didn’t think about that aspect. -
2023 BOA McAllen (Sept. 30)

I'd be really happy to see some new faces in finals here. I remember seeing Pieper at the Waco regional last year and for it being their 2nd year open, they had some big sounds, and you could tell those kids were really trying, and then they went and won a US Bands comp, so I'd be very surprised if they don't make finals here. It's going to be fun to watch their progress this season. -
2023 HEB Marching Contest (Sept. 30)

If I wasn't going to the prosper regional which most of these bands are, and the Wylie comp wasn't the same day I'd defiantly be going here, but I'll get to see most of these bands anyways. I'm really happy how this contest is turning out to be. As of now, I think finals will look something like this: 1st/2nd: Wakeland/Marcus 3rd: Keller(could seem them being 1st or 2nd) 4th: Timber Creek 5th: Forney 6th: Keller Central 7th: James Martin 8th: Haltom 9th: Aledo 10th: Azle 11th: Byron Nelson 12th: W.E Boswell/Fossil Ridge/Brewer It's going to be super close for those last two spots. I'd say that Azle may not even be in finals, but I feel like the 1st-9th bands are pretty much locks as of now. It's going to be super competitive, and hopefully a few more bands join the lineup! -
UIL 5A State Marching Contest 2023
Tubalord11 replied to Dave609's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I think you are overestimating how good they are. They are great, I hope it will be many years until they are able to win, let alone make state finals. They are really good, but first they have to get out of area B, which will be hard for them on its own. Maybe in a few years they can make state finals, but they are definitely not close to a state title. I understand they have a ton in 4A, but their is a big gap in overall quality between 4A and 5A -

Definitely an interesting concept. I think for UIL this will do well but I don’t know how well this will translate for BOA. Will be exciting to see regardless! -

For me it’s Duncanville! They have such a cool show design, and I think they could do some serious “damage” to the competition if they execute this show well which I think they will. Also Coppell, TW and ofc Hebron. And Cedar Ridge, basically everyone. -
Looks like Crown was 3rd only bc of overall visual which really sucks, but getting 2nd in GE is HUGE for them, and 3rd in Perc. Boston getting 5th in perc is super shocking, but it goes to show just how competitive this season was. Congratulations again to all the cores, can't wait for next season!!!

Another masterclass from BD, not much else to say! They just know how to bring the top show year after year, and I LOVE their music this year sm! Another great season from the Blue Devils! Here are my final predictions for the night. I could see BAC and Crown, Cadets PR and Mandis, and Blue Stars, troopers getting different placements: 1st: Blue Devils(guard/visual/GE) 2nd: Bluecoats 3rd: Carolina Crown(brass) 4th: BAC 5th: Cadets 6th: Phantom Regiment 7th: Mandarins 8th: Cavalries(perc) 9th: Colts 10th: Troopers 11th: Blue Stars 12th: Blue Knights Congrats to all the cores on yet another amazing year of DCI! It's probably my favorite season overall since 2016. Everyone like EVERYONE was so good this year! Thank you to all the performers for an amazing summer of DCI!
-
That was a musically masterpiece Bloo. I will admit, will i don't like the theme or narration and design, they sound really really good, definitely will be second, would love for them to win. Great job Bloo!
-
CAROLINA CROWN!!! A phenomenal run to finish an incredible season. I will admit, I'm worried a good amount. Seems they upped the electornics volume a ton, which was a very bad call imo, hopefully it wasn't as bad in the stadium as on flo, but regardless a fantastic season. BEST BRASS IN DCI!!! And congrats to their perc for really stepping it up this season!
-
BAC!!! BEST RUN OF THE SEASON! Guard is insane! Perc is insane! I will admit, the brass, while was amazing, could have been a little better from my ears. I'd love for them to medal, but I don't see it happening unless Bloo has a bad run or crowns perc gets tanked. my favorite BAC show thought, was such a treat all season long, especially live!
-
THATS HOW YOU DO IT CADETS!!! Absolutely threw down! This has to be my favorite cadets show since 2015! Everyone was so tight, soloist were on fire, percussion just killed it!! I mean I'm just speechless. AMAZING JOB CADETS!!!!
-
Mandarins!!!! I'm still amazed by what they have been able to do this year. LOVE LOVE LOVE the brass book! It's such a fun, energetic, and super entertaining show!! The props are crazy, the trombone players are just so freaking good(and the trumpet), I mean how can you not like this show! I CAN NOT wait to see what they bring next year! Congrats Mandis on a phenomenal season!!!
-
PHANTOM FREAKING REGIMETN!!!! That is how you end the season! Best run of the season BY FAR! They want 6th place, and I think they could take it. Shed my first tears of the night! How far they have come this season this year is just incredible. Thank you Phantom for this show, and for a wonderful year! SUTA!!!
-
Holy crap Cavies!!! This show has grown on me so much, at it's just such an ear pleaser! and that percussion section, God's Work! They really know how to make crowd favorite shows year after year. What a phenomenal season they have had. Great job Cavalries!
-
Beautiful performance Colts! Not my favorite show design wise but I love the music, and they played the heck out of it! I'm so happy to see how far they've come after last season. This program has a very bright future ahead of them. Amazing season Colts!!
