Oh, I do too! And who will ever forget the fiasco with Mr. Video several years back! Who was that marching band that did a funny show around that whole mess? What I was really referencing are videos taken directly off of FloMarching, and not just one that a parent may have taken with their cellphone and put up. Seems like FloMarching would own the video and therefore would be very unhappy to see these. Of course I love the opportunity to watch these videos from FloMarching, but I understand that they certainly must be in violation since they are not owned by the people putting them out there.

I'm just curious how people get away with recording the livestreams from FloMarching and then posting the videos on, well, you know where. How do they not get charged with copyright violations or infringement or whatever?

That's what is so interesting amongst the top 3 Leander ISD bands. We tend to move around in placements every competition and it's anybody's guess who will be the top scoring LISD band on any one day. However, Vandy is the only LISD band competing in the TMC this weekend AFAIK.

Ok, this one is coming up this weekend so let's bring it back to the forefront. I know it's not a huge competition comparatively speaking, but it will be exciting to see the battle continue to evolve between Vandy and Reagan! Props to Reagan for driving up for this one. It's practically in my backyard so I plan to at least go for finals. I'd love the chance to see Hendrickson again, and to see what JP Stevens has this year! Edit: And Cedar Ridge will be doing an exhibition after the national anthem. That right there is reason enough to go. Man, I LOVE their show this year!!

Not at all! I sure would love to see your band march sometime. Hopefully I will get the opportunity to do so!

My hubby doesn't care as much about it, so it's just my daughter and me but we make fun trips of it as well. We did Southlake BOA and now Conroe on our travels. Girls weekends!!!

Just a little follow up to my original post and two months later....I am enjoying myself immensely as a "graduated" band parent. The competitions are extremely enjoyable still, and I have the added bonus of having my former band kid now sitting in the stands with me and experiencing it all right along side me. It's been GREAT so far!!

You know what, I think you are absolutely right! Just unprecedented excitement, really. So many great bands competing. So much potential for amazingness on so many levels. So many possibilities for top 3 placements. And then there's Avon coming down and taking it all up a notch. I'm going to need some Valium just to be able to sit still all day that Saturday!

That's a bet I would definitely put money on. In fact I think I'll be more surprised if that record ISN'T broken at SA. My goodness, has there ever been a BOA SA more anticipated than this one??!! I doubt it!

Sounds like it's going to be quite the battle. Similar to what is being fought in the top Texas bands. The Hebron/Flower Mound match up last weekend was brutal like that. FloMo won prelims but Hebron came back to win at finals. You guys probably would have done the same thing yesterday in Dayton had there been a finals. It's going to be crazy in San Antonio this year for sure. At this point, simply making finals is going to be quite a feat for many of the Texas bands!!

We were wondering about those extra digits! Your suggestion totally makes sense. It also shows just how closely matched the top bands truly are.

There are a lot of scary moments for me as a momma in the marching band world. It's as bad as football!!

I'm not sure how many saw it, but Round Rock had a pretty substantial incident behind the pit in that section where the two sides of the band go running madly towards each other, switching sides of the field. A group of them in the very front collided and it took them a few seconds to untangle and get moving again. I don't know how much that hurt their scores, but I'm pretty sure it hurt their bodies!! Band is a full contact sport these days. They'll be having to march in full protective gear pretty soon. I did feel really bad for Round Rock tho. They are so good and deserve to be in the top ranks. But hey, can we just give a shout out to the Bowie band?! Way to make a come back, Bowie!

Me too!! The train theme was amazingly well done. I also loved the Dracula show. Good stuff!
