  1. You know what, I think you are absolutely right! Just unprecedented excitement, really. So many great bands competing. So much potential for amazingness on so many levels. So many possibilities for top 3 placements. And then there's Avon coming down and taking it all up a notch. I'm going to need some Valium just to be able to sit still all day that Saturday!
  2. That's a bet I would definitely put money on. In fact I think I'll be more surprised if that record ISN'T broken at SA. My goodness, has there ever been a BOA SA more anticipated than this one??!! I doubt it!
  3. Sounds like it's going to be quite the battle. Similar to what is being fought in the top Texas bands. The Hebron/Flower Mound match up last weekend was brutal like that. FloMo won prelims but Hebron came back to win at finals. You guys probably would have done the same thing yesterday in Dayton had there been a finals. It's going to be crazy in San Antonio this year for sure. At this point, simply making finals is going to be quite a feat for many of the Texas bands!!
  4. We were wondering about those extra digits! Your suggestion totally makes sense. It also shows just how closely matched the top bands truly are.
  5. There are a lot of scary moments for me as a momma in the marching band world. It's as bad as football!!
  6. I'm not sure how many saw it, but Round Rock had a pretty substantial incident behind the pit in that section where the two sides of the band go running madly towards each other, switching sides of the field. A group of them in the very front collided and it took them a few seconds to untangle and get moving again. I don't know how much that hurt their scores, but I'm pretty sure it hurt their bodies!! Band is a full contact sport these days. They'll be having to march in full protective gear pretty soon. I did feel really bad for Round Rock tho. They are so good and deserve to be in the top ranks. But hey, can we just give a shout out to the Bowie band?! Way to make a come back, Bowie!
  7. Me too!! The train theme was amazingly well done. I also loved the Dracula show. Good stuff!
  8. Good morning and we will see you soon!
  9. What I love most about Jeremiah and Hornrank.com is that he started that website while he was still in HIGH SCHOOL! Kids are just too smart for their own good these days.
  10. You must have one of those fancy clocko-marchometer thingies the BOA judges use. You're such a nerd. Love it!!
  11. I disagree. How can the previous year(s) NOT influence a band's overall ranking? I guess maybe there could potentially be two ranking systems. One, like now, that sort of ranks the overall "big picture" of where a band stands (heh--band stands), and another that strictly orders the bands based on how they scored at their most recent contest. Of course, poor Jeremiah would never get any sleep, but hey, it's BAND season man!!
  12. I'll never forget when Leander won BOA Austin in 2015 without winning one single caption. I will also always remember how excited Daniel Sanchez (Xenon) was when that happened. It was a superb day. Texas for the win!!
  13. It's the Austin/Southlake/Conroe/San Antonio world tour, baby!!
  14. I can't wait for this contest. I'm headed to Texas State tomorrow afternoon to pick up my baby girl and then we will hit the road to Shenandoah/Conroe/The Woodlands TX!
  15. Yes, that's exactly it! They were hypnotizing and I couldn't take my eyes off of them either. I expect to see them moving on up in the very near future.
  16. In looking at the predictions page for this contest, I'm noticing quite a large number of folks who are slating Ronald Reagan to take it all at Conroe on Saturday. I'm so curious as to why that is. Not that I don't think they can, because they obviously can, but after dropping a bit in the rankings last year, why are people still predicting them to win in such great numbers? Is there something I don't know about their show this year? Just an observation, of course. Ronald Reagan is an amazing band for sure!
  17. oh wow, how fun! It does sound a bit painful, though. The things we do for glory!!
  18. Oh my, you have the best stories. That poor girl!! I bet she still feels embarrassed about that moment in her life. That's something that scars you forever! I did one stint in a high school musical (South Pacific), and I'll never forget how much I enjoyed being in the pit for that. I wish I had done more because it truly was a great experience. And fortunately, it was also a puke free one. Oh I just remembered another musical I got to be a part of! I played flute during concert season, but was in the color guard during marching season 8 - 12th grade. (I was fortunate enough to audition for and make the high school band the summer before my 8th grade year--such an honor!). Anyway, I was color guard captain my Junior and Senior years, and my best friend and I were featured during a production of The Music Man. We did like a short 32 count routine front and center of the stage during a parade scene of the musical. I will never forget how fun that was. Great memories from my band years. Good stuff!
  19. Oh I can't wait to listen to this one. Sounds like a day in my life as a preschool director!
  20. Wish I lived closer and could attend!!
  21. Yikes! Are they just always late in signing up for these BOA's perhaps?
