  1. Me too! 88.80?? And only taking 1st place by a hair, really. I am shocked. I guess my reaction to their show really was just raw emotion with no basis in truth. I'm sad now!
  2. I still don't have words for my reaction to seeing them for the first time ever at a BOA event. YouTube can't do them justice. Heck I'm sure Flo Marching didn't either. I can't imagine seeing them live. Here is the best way I can think to describe how I felt at the end of their show. I watch Vandy and Ronald Reagan and I say to myself, "wow, they're really good. But so is CTJ and Leander." I watched Carmel and Avon tonight and was impressed; my thought was that they are fantastic, but so is Flowermound and Hebron. Then I saw Broken Arrow and I had no thoughts at all. It was nothing but awe and emotion. I felt like I had witnessed brilliance on a scale I had never before witnessed in a high school band. Perhaps it was simply because they are the only one of the top bands that I've never seen in competition before tonight. Perhaps it was just an emotionally raw response to something in their performance. I'm sure many would say that I am overstating how incredible they are. I don't care. That was the best darn band I've ever seen in my entire life.
  3. Nor did I. I don't think Carmel or Avon should have scored below a 92 or 93. I think Broken Arrow will get a 95 in St. Louis here in a few minutes. Edit: BA only received an 88.80. Scores in St Louis are even lower than Indy!
  4. Oh. My. Word. I have no words for how good Broken Arrow was. Utterly speechless.
  5. Oh that's magnificent. Love it!!
  6. Oh my goodness, Bentonville just blows me away! So glad they got the world to fully inflate for finals. Man that was good!
  7. Good job Westwood. They'll do well there with that show.
  8. There's a good chance you'll get your wish!
  9. I'll be headed out to Gupton stadium in a few hours to check out all of LISD in Region 32 UIL. Haven't seen Cedar Park in nearly a month, and am anxious to see what the rest of LISD has been up to this week!
  10. Hmmmm. Interesting idea! On your computer or on your tv? Because I like having one band take up the entire screen.
  11. Being in 2 different time zones will help as well.
  12. And Marian Catholic just killed it. I don't completely understand their show, but man I DIG IT! Sorry GN naysayers. That thing is making finals at Grand Nats.
  13. Here come the tears. Union's amazing singer sounds a LOT like Sophie! Loving their show all around.
  14. I was just about to say the same thing. They were spectacular! Just LOVED the Peter and the Wolf theme. So well done. Fantastic show.
  15. Oh I will, but what if Avon and Broken Arrow perform at the same time? Oh the horrors!
  16. I hate having to choose between both finals tonight! Wish I could record one.
  17. Was just blown away by Owasso! Great tribute to the evolution of radio from that band. I may have been a little sleepy still when I turned on the computer this morning, but they definitely woke me up with that great show. It was another one of those fascinating shows that I couldn't look away from. Great theme, too. Just loved it all around. Edit: it's about Radium. Not radio. Haha I'm dumb sometimes!!
  18. Heh...thats good. And probably not too far off the mark!
  19. Ok that's just brilliant. Too bad they didn't do a recording of him saying those things to play during the show. I know it's special to the kids. I look forward to that thing getting fully fleshed out in the next few weeks!
  20. Maybe that was my trouble with Avon confusing me. There was just SO much to see. And hear!! Maybe if I see it at least 3 more times, I'll be more fully appreciative of the Avon Affect. (I know it is spelled effect, but work with me people!). Castle made me so melancholy and my husband wiped tears away the entire length of their show tonight. He's a big ol softee. But seriously, after seeing Castle and Sophie in person last year at GN, and how we all mourned her tragic passing as we made the journey back home on Sunday, how could we not be moved? RIP dear Sophie. You were something special.
  21. Me too. I was underwhelmed by Carmel. And confused by Avon. I'm starting to think that bands north of Oklahoma are just very different from their Southern counterparts. We are so used to the style of marching band that we see here in Texas and in many ways it's just very different. I would not be a good judge if I had to pick a national winner!!
  22. Lawrence Township was fantastic! Could watch that show all day long!
