was it that Ascension show with all the ladders? If so, it was one of my faves last fall at BOA SA. My cohort in crime/fellow band mom enthusiast is a claims adjuster for homeowners insurance companies, and she called it the "claim adjuster show" since she spends so much time on ladders.

I respectfully disagree. It is fascinating how well the color guard uses them as both a prop and an accessory to whatever they are doing at the moment. Same with the band. Watching the horns come in with one guy standing and one guy driving, but BOTH guys playing on the carts was incredible. Great GE if you ask me. Altho I do wonder about the repeat. Perhaps it is as one of our Txbands experts said (can't remember who now) a reflection on the drill writer wanting to show that his product could be "recycled" and still win Grand Nats. Of course, Broken Arrow would have to win GN for that to happen now wouldn't they?

I am unsure about Cedar Park this year. I can't put my finger on any one thing, but they seem to have lost some of their pizzazz. They will certainly continue cleaning and do very well, but I'm on the fence with them this year.

Yeah, since I'm now just a spectator and no longer a band parent, I have to keep costs down if I'm going to justify going to every BOA within 3 hours of Austin!

Yes, but not all those extra ticket master fees. I think I'll just buy a $69 super ticket for me and my 2 girls at the window, and both of their college IDs will save me $10. Plus the dome fee will only be charged once per Super ticket. Our finals seats may suck but it's a chance I'll have to take. I can't justify spending $50 x 3 simply for finals tickets alone!

Okay, I just need to rant a little about Ticketmaster and the exorbitant fees they tack on to the tickets for finals in the Alamodome! I was all set to pay the $29 each for a reserved ticket, and then when I go to "check out" the price TRULY nearly doubled by the time they added all of their processing fees, service fees, and that stupid Alamodome fee that drives me crazy. I couldn't make myself hit the "purchase" button after seeing all of those fees! I hate to wait and buy the tickets cheaper at the window because I will end up in the nosebleed section in the endzone, but those FEES!!!

You're right, the quality was pretty bad...hey, i'll never complain about FloMarching again! (okay, so yeah, I probably will. ). But even with the terrible videographer (how hard is it to hold the dang phone STILL and shut up while you are recording?), it was still a phenomenal performance. They are just truly spectacular.

Was it just me, or were Vandy, Leander and Vista Ridge on FIRE yesterday? Man, I was so pumped after that. I could see Vista making finals and Leander giving Vandy some tough competition in SA with what they delivered yesterday. And it wasn't even a BOA! Three fantastic bands right there, and the crowd responded very appreciatively to all of them.

I never saw anything other than a YouTube video of BA at a football game last year, and the quality was pathetic. I guess I can see where reusing the props from the previous year could hurt them in the judges eyes. To me, it was fresh and amazing. To someone else who saw them last year, I can appreciate how that might not seem so fresh or amazing. But I will never forget how watching them for the first time tonight made me feel. And I'm savoring it.
