Yup, that's my fault for not properly double checking what was submitted. -

Added a bunch and posted Midland and McAllen results. -
I was unofficially doing reviews and posting them on the BOA Forums wayyyy back in the day, and then I heard that two kids from Cedar Park made this website.

The CDT timezone is UTC minus 5. However those times got imported into the calendar, it thought the CDT times were UTC times and then converted them to CDT by making everything 5 hours earlier..... I hate timezones. -

Almost none. If I am remembering correctly, the only bands in the largest class to have ever done it are Westfield and Marcus. Once each.
-
Results won't be available until some time tonight. If we assume an average of 45 minutes per band including breaks between bands and lunch, we are looking at around 12 hours. If they started at 7am, they won't finish until sometime around 7pm give or take an hour or so.

Thanks to Beowulf, here is a picture of the programs for 6A State Honor Band.

He's gone now.

I personally loved FloMo's recording and they did end up 1st in Area C, but very oddly it wasn't by any real clear margin. The performances were technically brilliant and full of amazing tone and depth of color across all sections (especially the clarinets!) but the only place it was relatively lacking in any way was with emotional musicality. And it seems like more than a few of the judges today didn't take too well to that.

Area C 4A was North Lamar and Krum.

He's definitely still here and makes sure the backend keeps humming along. -
Reuse (props, flags, design, etc) is generally an awesome thing for the activity as a whole because it makes higher level work financially accessible to groups that otherwise may not be able to afford things. And it also helps even the original bands defray the costs of the original design because they are able to sell (at a discount) the props and the designers know they can sell the design (so they don't charge as much up front). One of the single most reused props that I've seen was CTJ's trees from their 2012 show "Eve". Those went to Wills Point in 2013 and then got split amongst several other bands after that. I think I saw at least one of those a year for the next 5 years.

Grand Nationals 2018???
Xenon replied to bingogooberman's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
One complication to the fact that we don't have any confirmations yet is that it is very likely that all 100 GN spots are already filled and anybody else wanting to attend would be on the wait list. -

From the UIL (I added some emphasis and formatting): -
Their on-field warmup was their alma mater. It's a tradition for them that if they don't have a defined preshow (or haven't put it on the field yet), they use that as their warmup and all the parents/fans in the stands have their talons up. The opener is Claude T Smith's "Danse Folatre". The bluesy ballad is "Song of Joy" by Captain and Tennille (best known for "Love will keep us together"): The closer starts off with the beginning and ending portions of Paul Lovatt-Cooper's "Vitae Aeternum". (also Carolina Crown's 2014) But I also cannot find what that brilliant build is between Vitae Aeternum and Ode-to-Joy it is possible that it is some of the original music from Michael Martin.
