Area B is going to be even more of a blood bath than it was in 2016.

If all the boundaries stay the same, Waxahachie would be 6A B. Waxahachie is in Region 20 along with Duncanville which goes to B. That said, the regions and areas may or may not change due to some of the significant conference alignment changes. I would probably bet against them changing, though, since they last change was very recent in 2016.

Get your calendars out, because the dates for 2018 State are published! Monday, November 5th - 6A Prelims Tuesday, November 6th - 2A Prelims, 6A Finals, 2A Finals Wednesday, November 7th - 4A Prelims and Finals 2A has made the transition over to even numbered years, so now we have all the Even Classes on Even Years and all the Odd Classes on Odd Years. Also, with 6A being Monday/Tuesday instead of Tuesday/Wednesday, it will be easier/cheaper for bands to stay-over from BOA San Antonio and will also give more room for traveling to Grand Nationals for those that choose to do both.

For me it came down to Mineola's clarity of tone and ability to shape phrases gorgeously. They are like a Mini Marcus! But Farmersville hits absolutely every emotional spot in me and performed the snot out of their show too.

Absolutely this in every single way. The 15th place band here would have a legitimate shot at making BOA Grand National Finals (and likely has recently) this year if they are/were going. This year's BOA SA is insane on every single level. 16 of the top-30 bands as ranked by HornRank are going to be at this competition; 17 of the top-40. And just picking the 14 finalists only gets you to the top-23. When you look at who is going to BOA GN, in order to fill out the 12 finalists, you have to go to the top-24 and to get to 14 you have to go all the way down to the top-29.

All aboard that Mustang Traiiinn! I am saddened that I never got to see that show live because they didn't make it out of Area so I didn't get to see them in the torrential downpour that was State that year.
