  1. I wrote a whole lot about that Brazoswood situation in my post-competition review. That was the 2nd Houston BOA that I'd ever been to.
  2. The live blog (live.txbands.com) is up and running for tomorrow. It was an 8.5 hour drive from Dallas including all stops and meals and such. I’m tired already!

  4. I went to IHOP right across the street after staying in the parking lot really late talking to parents. There were lots of kids from the Birdville band in there after they got back from the contest they went to.
  5. I saw the video (not just audio) somewhere fairly recently, but I can't remember where and can't find it again.
  6. This reminds me of the fact that I was talking with an Alum and Parent from Haltom 2004 at Area B on Saturday and I just started singing the breakdown section of that show.
  7. Four times Four equals Sixteen. Divided by the Area which equals Pi r squared. Divided by the Derivative of two x plus x squared is approximately the inv of the e which equals point nine nine plus negative x squared minus two y is greater than or equal to theta plus y x minus pi equals one half of the constant of theta divided by the squareroot of pi multiplied by delta y all over e. Equals.......................... (flag noises).... ONE
  8. Also, North Shore is 71% Economically Disadvantaged and made 6A State Finals in the previous cycle.
  9. For the record, Duncanville ISD is 76% "Economically Disadvantaged".
  10. I haven't seen them up publicly elsewhere, so I am a little hesitant to post them until a little later. Leave it to say, though. Everything is a complete and utter tossup and everything could (or not) change tonight.
  11. I can confirm that that is accurate.
  12. It was still a good run, but the singers at the end are what really sell it.
  13. Duncanville's soundboard had a complete meltdown right before the closer. ((
  14. Lake Ridge fired Cannons!
  15. This 100%. I have seen most of these bands live, but it has been 2-3 weeks for most of them. I have seen some live as recently as a few days ago. I have ZERO clue what is going to happen at this Area other than the fact that there will likely be perennial Finalists who don't make Finals (not because they are doing any worse) and/or perennial State Advancers that won't advance to State (again, not for doing any worse). This area is just 245% nuts. I mean, look at that 2nd block of Prelims!!! NOBODY is safe in this Area. You need to have your absolute best performance in Prelims just to have a shot at making Finals and you need to be perfect again in Finals just to have a shot at Advancing. This Area leaves absolutely zero margin for a slightly off run. You could go from 1st in Prelims to not advancing to State in a heartbeat.
  16. Duncanville was 40th consecutive.
  17. Weatherford got a 2,2,1. 6A Area B only advances 5 bands to State.

  19. Exactly this. They actually sounded fairly decent, somewhere between a 1 and 2. But their marching wasn't quite as good; lots of upper body and other individual issues, but they're spacing was also fairly decent. Basically, there was a whole lot of well done stuff, but there were also a lot of low points; it wasn't a consistent 2.
  20. I'd also like to mention Skyline as an exception. They have made great strides over the past few years and even received a 1 from a judge this year. Watching their performance on Tuesday night, I told the people around me that this was a Rainbow (1,2,3 from the judges) in the making, and that is exactly how it turned out.
  21. The live blog for this weekend will be from BOA Indianapolis thanks to our friends from Horn Rank, Greater St Louis Marching, and formerly Indiana Marching. Good luck, Richland and Trinity!
  22. Still waiting on 24 as well..... Their contest is Saturday.
  23. Regions 5 and 20 had their contests this evening. Before tonight, Area B had a maximum of 38 bands that could qualify for Area. Tonight, there were 8 bands that did not qualify. That leaves us with a maximum of 30 bands with Regions 24, 30, and 31 still to go. If even a single additional band fails to qualify, Area B will only advance 5 bands to State. Last year, every band in Regions 24 and 31 received a 1. However, in Region 30, Weatherford received a 2,2,1 in 2017. They did get a 2,1,1 in 2016, though. This is coming down to the wire and I am biting my nails.
  24. 6A Region 5 results are in. Sam Houston and Trimble Tech got 2's. Everyone else got a 1. That puts 6A Area B at a max of 30 bands currently. Area B cannot afford to lose any additional bands. We still need Regions 30 and 31 to go. Last year, all bands in Regions 30 and 31 got a 1 with the exception of Weatherford with a 2,2,1. Two years ago, Weatherford got a 2,1,1. This is nail biting.
  25. Updated my Region 20 results post.
