  1. The Loop and Pop! contingent would like to have a word with you.
  2. Every single school in the district has advanced to state! Let's see if every school in LISD-S can call themselves a state finalist in a week and a half!
  3. UIL took care of it. Stop.
  4. Already forgot the name but it's also in Lake Travis's show!
  5. It's time to start believing it. We're playing for second (which after tonight, is very very much in play).
  6. Kevin is gonna have to deal with another cold winter, y'all. He's not flying as far southwest as we want him to this year.
  7. Horn soloist had their best run yet, but holy heck this high trumpet intonation would never fly in a Texas band hall.
  8. It was definitely Keller Central, not Keller.
  9. They're doing a Christmas show! They should be fine in this weather with the free GE!!!
  10. Really thought this Carmel show would be a lot cleaner musically than it was in September. I might actually think it’s about the same level or worse...
  11. Your research is correct! And how could you forget Tarpon Springs?!
  12. There’s no suspension for skipping an Area competition. Tons of bands do or did it—military, show band, mid 2000s SFA—and their organizations still went to UIL Concert in the spring, still participated in UIL football, choir, etc. Skipping UIL altogether gets tricky. Then you do start messing with other stuff—like UIL Concert, Solo & Ensemble. However, it doesn’t impact other events in the school. Westfield won football championships while their band was practicing 12 hours a week, and the school district held their own Concert Contest and Solo & Ensemble to make up for having to miss those events. Their choir continued to go to UIL Concert. The choice is there—it’s just up to the school districts.
  13. No school is required by UIL to compete at all. School districts are another story completely.
  14. I would imagine that this will probably be in place by 2021. Might be just too late for next year since they’ll have to wrangle judges.
  15. I think McCallum advances over Pflugerville and Georgetown
  16. I’m curious about if there were any fights from this proposal in the mixed Regions. Thinking particularly about 5, 9, 17, 18, 24. 25, 26.
  17. It'll nice to be see where their shows are, but the sheets and scoring are totally different so things could still flip around
  18. I don’t think Carmel’s music in 2017 had heavy crowd appeal. Or for some second place MGE examples, BA in 2014, or 2015. Avon is playing an interesting book with a ton of content and clever references that judges—and the audience—can pick up and appreciate. That’ll be enough to shoot their MGE up.
  19. Put me in the Avon camp. I think there’s only one band in the nation that could touch them and the furthest that band traveled this season was Houston. Of course I would love to be wrong on this.
  20. It varies. Sometimes it conflicts, sometimes it doesn't. OBA has been as early as the third weekend in October in recent memory.
