I actually think 1-4 today are in a pretty big log jam. Leander and Vandegrift brought a ton to the table. Reagan and FloMo on top makes sense, but I have a hunch they may be closer together than thought.

That closer was EVERYTHING in person.

Honestly I’m so jealous of the Reagan band students that get to match that. I wish the shows I marched were even half as cool! I think they have this one.

JBA is easily the best show South Texas has done in my entire band lifetime. They’re going to be out tomorrow on performance, but they’re setting the standard for their region from here on out. So so so much to love. Well over half the crowd stood at the end. Best reaction so far today!

Decided to go to a concert in town where I’m in school that night—won’t get into Indy until about 9:30 Saturday morning. Hope it’s fun!

I’m always so floored about how quickly people who don’t know the activity are so quick to criticize those who’ve been heavily involved for 20, 30, 40 years for making different, but legitimate takes.

Unfortunately, I think they’ll all be looking in. The Austin area is snapping big time this year, and they’ll probably be the bubble bands that make it in. Wakeland and Coppell are the DFW bubble bands with the best chance to get in finals.

I think the general planning goal is that it starts on the second Thursday of November. So it’s fine for now, but when GN gets earlier (8th-11th) and area gets later (Nov. 1st-4th), there may be some trouble.

I have it on decent-to-good authority that BOA San Antonio will be the week after State next year and the year after, pushing this problem back a little bit.

The alternate band is usually called up. I think it's been with as little notice as a week in the past. Bands don't go just in case.

Expected Avon to pop a bigger spread over an uncharacteristic Carmel. Curious what that means for GN. Maybe the show is beatable.
