Regardless of placement, getting a feel for the Alamodome and procedural things regardless of slight differences in UIL and BOA procedures can be really helpful for easing nerves. I don’t think it’ll make a huge or giant difference, but it’ll be noticeable in the way groups carry themselves. FHorn26 1 Quote
bsk Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 In addition to the two Leander 6A bands finishing 1st and 4th at San Antonio BOA, their three 5A bands that made state finished between 6th and 10th. Another 5A band, Wakeland, also made finals (13th). That seems like a darn good showing for 5A bands. Monday should be a fun competition for state prelims. Bdc22 1 Quote

Popular Post Dave609 Posted November 6, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted November 6, 2023 Well Today is the Day, 35 bands from across the State of Texas will be competing for a chance to become a State Finalist and possibly take home a Medal. If you are competing, be ready to have the performance of your life! 6A is done, 4A has finished their journey, history was made in 2A, but today, it's your turn to Write History. Be that group that got the program to finals, become the first program since 2013 to win the State Title or get that Georgetown record (Cedar Park ). Overall though, enjoy the ride, make memories, and above all, be proud of your accomplishments. Today is your day, you earned it! Best of Luck to all 5A bands today, and make sure to make your program proud! - David H. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, J-Mike16, BandDad4Life and 2 others 5 Quote

Popular Post clarinetistkai05 Posted November 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2023 THIS IS IT! This is my last competition of the season (ever technically cause I’m a senior), and I couldn’t be any prouder of my band, Forney. We’ve been through so much this season, and I genuinely am glad I’ve had this opportunity for 4 years to be apart of this organization. I honestly regret not being in these forums sooner because y'all are genuinely the kindest people I’ve ever met. Anyway, enough with the blabbing. Good luck to every single 5A program who is competing! I genuinely love you all, and give it your best shot! - Kai celesta, tennertrumbow, J-Mike16 and 8 others 11 Quote

Dave609 Posted November 6, 2023 Author Posted November 6, 2023 Well the event is underway! Sharyland Pioneer- First off, the pre-opener threw me off 😆. Took me a minute to realize that their pre-opener is them walking to their spot. The show was very fascinating! The idea of the different stages of metal put into different movements, really cool! They sounded very nice musically, and had an overall good marching performance. I really loved the use of Sound garden's Black Hole Sun in their third movement! Overall, amazing performance Pioneer and congratulations on Advancing to State! Edit- Just noticed 2 things, they had a Bassoon solo, which is really unique, and also, this was a steam punk based show! Quote

Dave609 Posted November 6, 2023 Author Posted November 6, 2023 Aledo- I have to say, I love how they utilize the whole field, with their props on either end and then the band throughout! The music was really fun to listen to and the marching was great! Congratulations Aledo HS! Tubalord11 and lost 2 Quote
jetliner Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Wow College Station, what an emotional performance of a well-designed show! BandMom07 1 Quote
Dave609 Posted November 6, 2023 Author Posted November 6, 2023 College Station- I really liked the show! The use of David Bowie and Pink Floyd made for a really interesting show! The ballad was really good and the closer was really nice, and paid a tribute to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon! Congratulations to College Station! I'll be signing off now, best of luck to the rest of the 5A bands!! Quote
