BandNerd07 Posted April 7, 2025 Posted April 7, 2025 Looks like no one else started this topic, so I guess I will. Anyways this is gonna be a fun area like always. Here's my early season predictions: 1. Coppell - Safe to say they are a lock, coming off of their 4th consecutive Area Championship. 2-3. Keller/Timber Creek - They always seem to go neck and neck during early season contests. TC seems to beat Keller at a lot of early season contests (HEB, BOA Bedford/Prosper) but Keller always figures it out by area. Interchangable but locks IMO. 4-7. SLC, KC, LD Bell, Lake Ridge - The last spot will come down to these 4 bands. SLC can 2-peat a SMBC appearance, KC can advance for the first time in 6A after barely missing state this year, Bell had a rough season. Can they bounce back? And then Lake Ridge, for the first time in a while, is in the state Convo. Very fun show last year and can't wait to see them build on to last year's success. Finalist Bubble - Halttom, Trinity, Boswell, Martin, Mansfield Tubalord11 and SharksAreCool 2 Quote
Debw Posted April 7, 2025 Posted April 7, 2025 Hopefully your prediction for KC advancing is correct. However they will have a new director. He/she is unmamed at this time. Supposedly someone has been hired. McNulty headed over to Melissa ISD at the end of March. Quote

It’s one of those things where it’s just extremely hard to advance in a really good area. I’m also hoping SLC can get back into the SMBC because they where a dark horse for me last year. Bell just had some cleaning issues musically last year which kinda shocked me considering how good they were in 2023. Last year wasn’t bad by any means but just not as polished come area, but I’m excited to see if they bounce back or not. It’s funny how they’ve been doing recently, it’s like one season they make state and then they don’t, just need to find a way to be consistent SharksAreCool 1 Quote

Took them 3 years to get back to state after advancing in 2021. In 2022 they must've had a rough prelims performance with them getting 12th but then losing to Dville in the tie breaker. And then last year, they tied with KC for 7th and would've made state based on prelims results but fell short in finals. It'll be interesting to see if they keep a sense of consistency as well. Yeah I think them and Bell could be 4 & 5 next year with KC losing their head, though I hope they don’t fall off, I LOVED their 2023 show Quote
dfwhorn Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 Here are my early predictions. 1. Coppell 2. Timber Creek 3. Southlake Carroll 4. Keller 5. LD Bell 6. Central 7. Lake Ridge 8. Haltom 9. Martin 10. Trinity Anything could change through like 4 down so who knows, but I'm excited to see a lot of good shows in the area this year. Quote

LostChoirGuy Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 I might need to perform CPR on this dead thread. Crazy considering how this area used to be one of the most talked about. Quote

This areas last spot is basically a fight between SLC, LD Bell, and Keller Central and bands like Lake Ridge and Trinity are on the rise. Quote
josephbandfan Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Looking at the past 4 years and taking out bands no longer in this area, these would've been the top 4 + first outs: 2021 1. Coppell 2. Keller 3. SLC 4. Timber Creek - 5. LD Bell 2022 1. Coppell 2. Timber Creek 3. Keller 4. LD Bell - 5. SLC 2023 1. Coppell 2. LD Bell 3. Timber Creek 4. Keller - 5. Haltom 2024 1. Coppell 2. Keller 3. Timber 4. SLC - 5. Keller Central Quote

If Coppell had some slight issues, they wouldn't be getting 1st every year in this Area. Clearly the staff at Coppell is doing some amazing things as the program is among the best in Texas. Quote

Also it’s one thing to say they need to improve on something but it’s not nice to say they have no tone. As much as band is competitive it’s all friendly competition. Just something to keep in mind these are just kids. Tubalord11 1 Quote

ChristopherRoden Posted September 6, 2025 Posted September 6, 2025 Just saw Timber Creek, kudos to the kids and staff because that’s a massive step up from last yr in music and drill demand and they’re pulling it off! Excited to continue watching them this fall Tubalord11 1 Quote
BlaStoFf22 Posted September 14, 2025 Posted September 14, 2025 The new Area Judging System could really shake things up in Area B. Instead of one broad music score, each of the three judges has their own caption: woodwinds, brass, and percussion. On the visual side, captions are still combined, but a full third of the score now leans toward effect. That’s a big change for programs with standout strengths. Take Boswell: their percussion has always been top-tier, but in the old system that could get buried. Now percussion alone counts for 20% of the score. Coppell is still the clear front-runner, but here’s where it gets interesting: Timber Creek – Strong woodwinds and percussion, plus an improving design team that should get more credit on the visual side. Southlake Carroll – Excellent percussion, usually mid-pack in music, but boosted by strong soloists and a solid color guard. With Grand Nationals on their schedule, they could get a bump in visual captions. LD Bell vs. Keller – A matchup that’s usually leaned Keller’s way, but the new sheets might change that. Bell usually excels in percussion, and their music captions often track with the strength of their show design. With the Macy’s Parade on their calendar this year, it’ll be interesting to see how they balance preparation. Early reports say they’re off to a strong start. They’re almost always strong visually, and with a consistently solid color guard, they can pick up extra effect points that make a real difference. Keller is an interesting case. Traditionally, they’ve been very strong in music and visual performance, but percussion and color guard look vulnerable this year. Results from the HEB Drumline Contest suggest Keller could finish as low as 8th–10th in percussion, which means they’ll need to post very high scores in woodwinds and brass to stay competitive. The brass section isn’t as dominant as in past years, though the woodwinds are improving and still feature standout soloists. With design and color guard now weighing more heavily, captions that used to be absorbed into general sheets may now expose those weaknesses. We’ll see how it plays out once these groups hit the field, but the new sheets should make for some interesting results SharksAreCool and CosmicLimbo 2 Quote

Jacob2017 Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 I know it's still early season, but the Mansfield comp happened, and SGP beat Lake Ridge by a little over a full point. I'm VERY impressed with the performances they've been putting out. I think they're sounding amazing, and I really believe they're going to be stiff competition this season at area. sandip 1 Quote

LostChoirGuy Posted October 3, 2025 Posted October 3, 2025 Yeah back when you had Prosper, Waxahachie, and Duncanville still in the area. Plus LD Bell and Haltom were a lot stronger. I can't remember if Richland was around that year or not. Quote
