  1. i only really said that because all we have from uil is really state prelims and finals. like sure area is great, but the majority of people agree that area scoring can be weird (even if it not always is). boa seems to be more consistent, especially taking into account how scores (mainly score gaps between bands) grow throughout the season. like i love being able to compare the early Austin, Houston and Dallas regionals to what we get in sa and nats, and you can’t really do that with uil. i actually do like the uil scoring too, but i also feel like uil and boa are both too far on opposite ends of the spectrum. like i love seeing the brass, perc, ww rankings in uil, but then it raises the question if a coherent show is even needed if only 1 of the 7 judges is regarding design. the opposite is for boa, like percussion and guard is basically ignored in boa which sucks cause those are pretty major parts of the band. sure some captions are said to cover these but in reality, they are not really given the light of day, imo at least. honestly, i like the dci rubric the most cause its like a middle ground between the two.
  2. ehh i kinda just took head to head competition more into account. like coppell beat pearland, ld bell, and bridgeland in state prelims and finals (tied with pearland but close enough) so i put them above them. obviously boa weighs heavier than uil, but that was all we had for the majority of dfw bands so i just took that and ran. same kinda thing for flo mo and twhs, flomo placed behind Marcus at uil, but then twhs placed above them at boa sa, so i decided to shove them all in the same region. it’s hard with all the different comps, but mainly just thinking about would have most likely happened alongside the results that we do have.
  3. im gonna make my own Vandegrift (BOA San Antonio) Marcus (BOA San Antonio) Hebron (BOA Grand Nationals) The Woodlands (BOA Grand Nationals) Vista Ridge (BOA San Antonio) Flower Mound (UIL State) Ronald Reagan (BOA San Antonio) Coppell (UIL State) Pearland (BOA Grand Nationals) L.D. Bell (BOA San Antonio) Bridgeland (BOA San Antonio) Round Rock (BOA Grand Nationals) Cy-Fair (UIL State) Keller (BOA Grand Nationals) Waxahachie (UIL State) James Bowie (BOA Grand Nationals) Westlake (BOA San Antonio) Claudia Taylor Johnson (BOA Grand Nationals) Dripping Springs (BOA Grand Nationals) Cedar Ridge (BOA San Antonio)
  4. i feel like the biggest school in texas that has never gone to nats is coppell. like they have had rumors of going for almost like 5 years now but have not made the trip. they are long overdue and i really feel like they need to make the trip up to indy.
  5. coppell will likely place first and sweep most, if not all captions, especially after their success at thunder in the hills in september
  6. ryan george arranges for coppell and vista ridge
  7. first block rankings 1. coppell 2. pearland 3. keller 4. round rock 5. cy-fair 6. waxa 7. bridgeland
  8. what about Allen, they have the the largest band program in the nation but does not usually face competitive success. sure, having more kids would be very helpful, but it’s hard to make the assumption that bowie and gp would automatically place higher with more kids. i love bands like rouse and argyle as they are so amazing and manage to be amazing with a small number of kids, especially when competing with giant bands like round rock, vandegrift, and vista.
  9. 1. vandegrift 2. hebron 3. woodlands 4. reagan 5. vista 6. marcus 7. flo mo 8. coppell 9. pearland 10. ctj 11. round rock 12. keller 13. waxa 14. ld bell
  10. i feel like pearland is more of a lock than round rock, both and CTJ are pretty safe for finals imo
  11. im assuming this guy is trolling lolz
  12. 1. coppell i would be shocked if they did not win this thing for the third year in a row. they continue to push on an upward trajectory and are very clearly the front runner for this contest. especially as they are skipping out on the BOA side, and taking a lighter season in general, they should thrive in uil and be squeaky clean by this Saturday. 2. bell they are back on their feet after a short bump in the road, and this show is even better than last year's. they won prelims at boa prosper and had good scores in the performance captions. i think they will do great at this competition and should be a lock to advance to state. 3. timber creek every year this group continues to get better, it is so amazing. even though they have not broken into boa sa or uil state finals yet, i feel like this may be their year to accomplish one, if not both feats. they have proved themselves multiple times this season and should also be a lock for advancing to state. 4. keller i know keller may seem like they are having a rough season so far, but people forget that they are still keller. they have not missed finals at boa sa in nearly a decade and are playing the long game this year. if they clean up the mahler in the closer and just clean overall, they will do just fine. im getting lazy to write about each band sooo 5. keller centeral good show, similar to timber creek as they have proven themselves this season so far 6. southlake love the paris theme, reminds me of waxahachie last year, love the music in the show, visual package is questionable 7. duncanville havent seen much of them, but they did not peform as expected at boa prosper. but also, its duncanville, the kings of uil, so they will be fine 8. waxahachie 9. lake highlands 10. lake ridge i don't remember if there are 10 or 12 finalists i think spots 2-8 are interchangeable depending on the runs and how the shoes do in uil. the only thing that i am 100% confident in saying is that unless some crazy thing happens, coppell will advance to state.
  13. vandegrift is a lot of things, but mid is not one of them lolz
  14. 1. Vandegrift (mus, vis, ge, perc, aux) 2. Rouse 3. Cedar Park 4. Round Rock 5. Leander 6. westlake 7. dripping springs 8. lake travis 9. Brandies 10. McNeil 11. M&G 12. glenn
  15. im assuming coppell will do some crazy show again and end up winning again and sweeping most captions. i think last year the spread between them and vandy who got second was like 2 points lol.
  16. interestingly enough, both coppell and hebron are making their way down to the Austin counterpart of this contest, thunder in the hills in dripping springs
  17. there’s the very obvious ones like vandy 19, hebron 19 and 21, blue springs 18, etc. but my favorite of all time is coppell 2019. the vibes are immaculate, amazing drill, music and that trombone flugel duet is soo pretty.
  18. has anyone seen more of the dfw bands coppell, keller, marcus, wakeland?
