Lone Star does have an amazing show.  But they need more Movement and drill .. musicality wise they can  compete with  CP Rouse Wakeland and the other  top bands.   Their only  weakness is not enough  GE/drill..

In previous years I would agree a little more.  Although music is still the strength, I really enjoy their music program.  GE wise I think they have some fantastic moments across the board, the musical phrasing and building is pretty top notch in that regard.  I find the opener and closer in particular to be also exciting visually, huge field coverage, beautiful forms, and sequences, great direction ,etc.  I think 4th-6th is very much in play, which would be a massive step up for them.

I think for UIL theres an argument for 3rd personally, the writing for them this year is very very strong, which usually is what held them back in previous years in my opinion

If we take a look at CP Rouse and Wakeland... they have more drill than Lone Star... that is what takes you from  top 3 to 4th to 10th..... Being an old timer band member it's always been about who has the best technique marching, floating the forms and straight lines and diagnels ...... and the bands I see accomplishing these things are those 3 bands... Lone Star is almost there... they just need do a little  more marching technique training and they'll be seriously taken at State Uil and BOA'S..

I don't think Lone Star needs more movement and drill necessarily, but rather that they just need to execute what they have better.

Cedar Park is a masterclass in turning it up when they have to. I have no real doubt they’re going to take the 5A title again this year. It’s not a culture you can build overnight.

It's going to be a good one to watch.   Cedar Park and Rouse are both great bands with very good shows this year.  Lost is correct in that Cedar Park has a long consistent history of cleaning, performing and stepping it up at the end of the season.   However, I can see Rouse doing well with that this year also.   I would say betting odds are even money at this point (disclaimer:  I am not betting or know of any betting, just a turn of phrase).

It’s definitely possible, they are they cooking this season, would be super surprised if they don’t medal

CP is going to do win again in my opinion.... From what I'm being told they are working on things for state to surprise everyone at prelims and  finals.... Wakeland has a great chance to medal  but it won't be for first...

It's about time that these predictions started. 

1. Cedar Park (Seriously what they do in finals every year is a trademark of Cedar Park, and they aren't likely to end that streak anytime soon)

2. Rouse (Amazing sounds from what I've seen and always striving for excellence) 

3. Wakeland (0.05 points behind Marcus (the king of clean) at BOA Prosper is amazing for them and although not a huge fan of their show, I cannot deny how clean they are all around)

4. Leander (Love the Latin aspects, seems like they weren't happy with their scores last year and it shows... looking forward to seeing them) 

5. Aledo (Nothing else to say besides this program is changing for the better. Almost a seamless show and chock full of general effect throughout)

6. Lone Star (Could see them taking Aledo for 5th, insane music book and love the quality of sound they bring on the field)

7. Hendrickson (It was very good when I saw it at BOA Waco, can see them doing very well in about 2 weeks to come)

8. Colleyville Heritage (So proud of them for how they've done this year, and it is hard to see them losing to the other bands in Area F that they have already beaten this season)

9-12. (Still unclear on how I should rank these, but I see Burleson Centennial, Friendswood, Roma, and Richland being somewhere in this range)

considering the insane amount of cleaning and growing area B bands are known to do, I wouldn't count Wakeland out of the number 2 spot above rouse!

As much as I’d love for it to happen, I still think Rouse and CP are on level up from Wakeland. HOWEVER, I do think it’s still very possible, especially with how close they were to Marcus, but I do personally think/feel Rouse still had top 2 locked down, especially with how they did at TMC

I’m hearing a lot about CR and Rouse. But I also saw a prediction of CH to 10. Does that change after they lost to midlo at Area F last night

I haven’t seen anyone outside of area B so I can’t speak on overall, but I will say that last night Wakeland and Lone Star both looked super hot and will be a tight race between them this year. Both schools have seen major improvements and I know they both want medals. Haven’t seen anything from Rouse or CP yet, but I’m hearing they’re better than ever and want those top spots as well. From what I’ve seen and heard I think it’s very possible top 4 will be Lone Star, Wakeland, Rouse, and Cedar Park (not in any order).

 

If memory serves me right, 10 finalist bands are returning to state from last year:

(Forney moved up to 6A, LT missed state at Area B

I remember many people were shocked Aledo missed finals last year at state, and I think they want it this year, so it’s very possible they’re in the mix. I don’t know much of other schools outside area B though. Once I hear opinions and hopefully see some recordings of bands I can give more confident predictions before state.

Last two (by area): Mckinney North, Pieper, Midlothian, Burleson Centennial, Colleyville Heritage 

I have Argyle for a couple reasons. One, I think they are going to use the momentum of making state and shock us. They've got a great performance time, and an amazing show which if they clean and really get together, I think will make finals. I think Aledo, Leander and Lonestar are interchangeable, will just come down to the day of. I haven't seen Roma's show yet, but it sounds like they are having another stellar season, and don't have to early of a time. Really sucks Midlothian has to go on super early as I'd love to see them make finals after the season they're having. Don't know how much I'll be able to watch this year, not a ton of prelims since I have the exhibition performance but might just skip my classes if I have nothing big those days to watch finals. Good luck to everyone in preparation, hopefully able to watch some of ya'll before the exhibition!
