I went to school with some kid who, along with his brother, were murdered one day my sophomore year. I didn't know him, but it's still really sad. I also went to school with a guy who died in a car wreck last year, and that was really sad too

Awww...all our dance team does is go "THANK YOU BAND!" after their instructor tells them to. But they do provide entertainment sometimes, so it's not bad

Our band director just informed us in class today that for the first time in like, 5 years, our band is going to the SHSU Marching Festival on November 4. Who's all going and what's it like?

not all that great..I'm having trouble with some freshmen in my section marching-wise and some of the other SL's think I'm not doing my job. It's not true, it's just that I can't march FOR them and they can't get the hang of it. All in time, I guess.... Why am I so freaked out about my AP Calculus test over limits (and continuity) tomorrow, yet I'm on TxBands when I could be somewhat preparing for it?

Because you're in AP World History and anything AP requires a lot of work. Yeah, I got called that on the first day of school because one of them wouldn't get out of my way and I was almost late to class, so I kind of shoved my way through there. Well, she shouldn't have been standing in the hallway talking in the first place because our school is CROWDED..like, seniors have classes in portable buildings (I have AP Calculus in one) Why have I not started my ton of AP Chem and AP Calculus homework yet?

because you're afraid of the freshmen...the ones at my school are juvenile delinquents. Okay, not all of them, but the majority are! Why am I on here instead of doing AP Chemistry homework?

Yep....SENIOR YEAR!! I'm actually not that psyched for it. I know this means scholarships & applications and stuff, on top of college class homework and stuff so yeahh, not looking forward to that. I, however, AM looking forward to prom and all of the other senior stuff. Why am I still on the computer when I have to wake up early tomorrow?

No. They're really dull and kids like to throw candy at the band people. Meanies has anyone here NOT gotten their AP scores yet? I'm kind of glad I haven't though..I think I did really bad on my English Language one (or whatever junior-level English is) so it's nice not to know, I guess

I have our second show from Les Miserables, "I Dreamed a Dream" stuck in my head. I just got back from band practice about a half hour ago

We do a run, stretch, push-ups, run again thing... I had to do 3 laps today because our band director has this thing where if we don't beat someone running, we have to do another lap and I wasn't about to push myself that hard because she's a fast runner and I'm not. And it was really hot because outdoor practice went from 5:30-8 because of teacher inservice. We have to do push-ups for punishment if we mess up with directions (like, only doing going to one set instead of two or something) or is late to practice. He also makes people do laps if they're talking too much or, as in my friend's case, chewing gum. The worst part about it is that we're not used to doing anything like this because our old band director left and he didn't make us do this stuff. But it's not so bad...I'm more in shape, so it works for me

Sometimes I'll plug my headphones into my CD/Radio Alarm Clock (because I don't have an IPOD *tear*) and fall asleep the the classical music station. It helps, especially if i've had a stressful day and I need something to keep my mind from racing Is anyone here new to the 5A school scene? I am...yay for another state marching year!

Because band is taking over our liiivvveeesss! I didn't go to practice today though because i'm sick with some stomach bug thing Hey I<3thebox...the Karl Jenkins show is actually my favorite out of all four years. I'm not sure if it was because the music was interesting or if it was because I was a freshman and everything was so new (I can't stand things to be constant for a long time, though I hate change..hmm..) but I had a blast doing that show. Especially "Zarabanda." It sounded cool Anyway...why is Tom Cruise so weird?

Umm..we just got classified as a 5A this past winter sooo, I think we're prolly at 2300 students in grades 9-12. Our formerly small city is growing rapidly, thanks to new neighborhoods being built left, right, and center. Our school wasn't built to hold so many students, so they're building a 9th grade center. Too bad it won't be finished until late 2007 & us seniors are using portable buildings for some of our classes (I have AP Calculus in one!)

I have no idea why I clicked on "DM Podium" when I'm not a DM. But anyway....we just started freshman band camp today and section leaders and DMs had to come too. Our hours are from 8-11AM (outdoors) and 1-3PM (indoors) from now (well, full rehearsal starts Monday) until school starts on August 14. Then we go from 4:30-6:30 except on Wednesdays when we'll get out at 5:30
