UGH!!! Just thinking of Dimetapp makes me shudder disgustingly! The only liquid medicine I can even STAND (but still don't take anymore) is some pink antibiotic my doctor gave me when I was younger that tasted like bubblegum. Even then, I had to swig down an entire Coke after taking it or I'd get sick

I can't decide....Ticheli's "Cajun Folk Songs" bring back so many memories from junior high, but yet Whitacre's music--especially October--is B-E-A-Utiful and kind of speaks for itself. I guess if I had to pick, I'd say Whitacre just because his music rocks

South Padre Countdown

Hehe, that is an awesome feeling! We were overall best band, best in class (4A) and I don't remember what else at DC Festivals last year (San Antonio), but all the other bands were jealous. It was awesome!! It was also awesome to be one of the outstanding performers from my school (there were 4 of us??) -
I don't like hummers....they're U-G-L-Y! In fact, they look like a box with wheels

I had trouble with one of my section leaders when I was a freshman...I couldn't grasp the concept of marching right (i'm not the best marcher even now!) and she was impatient. I kept reminding myself of that section leader when I became section leader this year and made sure i was patient with people who weren't the best marchers.

As for the whole David Blaine situation, I didn't watch it because i was (stupidly) afraid he'd end up killing himself on air or something. Not to mention that I just didn't want to watch it because it just sounded boring!

I'm just taking the English Language, I think...it's the one for juniors. I'm not taking the AP History one because I don't have AP History on campus. I take my history class at the college (History 1301/1302) as dual credit (college and high school credit). My test is tomorrow

Dimetapp or however you spell it.....nasty!!!! Actually, any liquid medicine you can think of, because I barf if I have liquid medicine (gee, I bet you really wanted to know that, right?)

Hey now, you could post a pic of a masculine dog or something (aka-Rotweiller or something..I'm not a dog person)

Hey everyone! So I was posting a pic of my cat on one of the threads and thought to myself, "Self, why don't you make a post where everyone on txbands.com could have people tell each other how cute their pets are?" So yeah..put your cutest pics of your animals on here and brag about them! WARNING: CONTAINS ADORABLE PICS OF FELINES (well, in this post anyway) Here are my three cats: My Tabby cat Danny..I've had him since I was 9 years old! Yep, me and ol Danny cat have gone through a lot together. He's actually moved 3 different times and hated every single move. I got him when I just moved to another city from the one I'd grown up in and when my mom thought I needed a friend (I'd wanted a cat of my own forever). He ended up being there for me through the hardest times of my life and even got into a fight with my old golden retriever, Comet. He's currently outside on the porch begging for my to feed him Friskies This is Princess--she was my dad's cat and we inherited her when he passed away in late 2000. So she's about 6 years old (her birthday's on Halloween because of her multi-colored face) and I actually don't know what kind of cat she is. I think the vet mentioned once that she was a diluted tabby This is Molly..she's a tortoise shelled calico, we think. It's interesting how we ended up getting her. She had somehow gotten on the bottom of some guy's worktruck or something and he drove from Downtown Houston to LaPorte--a good 25 minute drive--with Molly under his truck. She didn't get hurt and the guy ended up driving to my aunt's workplace at the time and found Molly. She knew we were looking for a cat for Princess to play with (Danny's outside all of the time) so we ended up getting her. In this pic, she had gotten into our dishwash towel drawer. And for the record, we did wash that dishrag after we put her down!

Yes, she is a tortoise shell calico...at least, some kind of tortoise shelled cat. I'm so sorry about your cat. If something happened to Molly (or Danny, my tabby or Princess the...iono what she is) I'd be very upset And yes, having a pregnant DM would be hilarious. In fact, if the baby was a girl, the band could play "The Drum-Major's Daughter" when the DM and baby come home

We went to DC Festivals in San Antonio when I was in junior high too--7th AND 8th grades and then I went last year as a sophomore. I miss it greatly! I wish we were going to San Antonio again instead of a band banquet, but who cares? I'm going to Arlington this week for the TASC (Texas Association of Student Councils) State Convention which includes a trip to Six Flags Over Texas, so I'm content for the year

Awww!!! She's sooo adorable! I also love the name...I have a cat named Molly

2006 MARCHING SHOWS
ClaireAnnette07 replied to Aegis Fang's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
Well, if I weren't a clarinet player (ahem, woodwind) I'd be totally for that, but since I'm not a brass and from what I understand DCI is either mainly brass or strictly brass, it wouldn't work. Not to mention that the woodwind section @ my school dominates the brass...and I'm totally not saying that 'cuz I'm one And even though you may think Key Poulan is 'subpar', I happen to like his shows. Of course, I like DCI too, but my BD wouldn't go for it. If he pulled out a Key Poulan show, I'd be thrilled just because it's something different (and I think that's what we need for advancing to the 5A competition, but that's just my opinion) -
The history test was easy....but i know I got one question wrong--something about the spread of yellow fever? Iono, it was a picture of a guy spraying like a pesticide or whatever. Some of the pics weren't all that clear, which made it hard to understand I'm just glad that I'm a junior and I can finally say..... NO MORE TAKS! Unless I failed a section...ohh no!

2006 MARCHING SHOWS
ClaireAnnette07 replied to Aegis Fang's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
Wow, i wish we could play Key Poulan. We're playing Les Miserables next year for marching season and from what I've heard, it's B-O-R-I-N-G! I guess we'll see next year... -
Lucky you. The 11th grade math TAKS was hard--I don't care how stupid I may sound.

How big is your band?
ClaireAnnette07 replied to Lextbone's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
40 clarinets? WoW..anyway, we march about 90-ish, and around 10 in pit but we have more enrolled in band class itself-we just have ineligibilities and people who didn't show up for fish camp or whatever and people who just aren't involved in marching band. We're currently a 4A, but as of next year we're a 5A. What used to be a small town has grown tremendously (sp?) in the past year or two because new neighborhoods were built and apparently everyone who moved in has like, 3 high school-aged kids -
Yeah, I thought I'd start a thing on TAKS since it's this week. Lucky seniors don't have to come to school until like, 11:15AM and most of them leave after that period! But unfortunately, like some of you, I'm a junior who's slumming through the LAST EVER TAKS test.

Nope, no blackouts where i live, but my grandparents (On the other side of my town) got one. YaY for 90+ degree days in April!

Psh, I don' t have a date...I go and hang out with my band friends
