  1. That sounds like a bad thing...if it is, that's what happened to me at region seating. Thank goodness I'm 4A and had already advanced to Area F before bombing! Haha..
  2. Uhh, I haven't exactly started on it yet, because I'm working on region right now! Not to mention that my BD isn't sure about the clarinet solo he passed out (I don't like it, I'll change it if he keeps it) and he hasn't given us ensembles yet
  3. Heyy, I'm 1st too! And we also have the region music (a cut) for the chair placement, except that it's also our major playing grade (which nobody really thinks about-it's all about chair order for us)
  4. Neither does mine...
  5. Aw, that's great that everyone's having a good Turkey Day. Did anyone have to march in a parade? I didn't, thank heavens!
  6. Region 19 is brutal! Just an example: Last year, only ONE 4A clarinet made it into All Region (out of 48). I ended up making it, too, but I was an alternate so I didn't count myself in that
  7. I'm ready for region band tryouts to be over...it's so nerve-wracking when it's time to tryout
  8. I'm insanely jealous..we played that my freshman year and even though it's like, 13 minutes long, I still <3 it.
  9. hahaha, that's great! We never have anything interesting like that happen at our footbal games (well, since I got there, haha)
  10. I saw them at region this year...they were really awesome! They definately earned the straight 1's they got!
  11. Well, Channelview's football team has improved--we actually won 2 games this season (one district!) and aren't the last team in district anymore. Too bad we're second to last in district..
  12. Heck yes..region '05-'06 here we come, lol. I'm personally glad concert season is here, just because I've never liked marching season, even though I guess I'm supposed to because I'm section leader. Of course, we're playing "Greensleeves" and "First Noel" like we do every year, but I don't think we know what else for sure. So far, we have "Holiday Sleigh Ride", "The Nutcracker", "Sleigh Ride" (which we've played every year but havent done this year), some Fidelis song I can't spell (I didn't bring my folder home) and our Sousa march for the year, "Free-Lance March".
  13. Hey guys...I go to Channelview and just wanted to wish everyone participating in the Area F competition good luck!! I also made a prediction and only placed 3 by accident! Here are the rest of my predictions 4th place: Channelview 5th place: Galena Park (sorry guys, but CV's my band!) 6th place: Crosby 7th place: ???????? Oh yeah, a special thanks to everyone who predicted we'd be in the top 7
  14. Area F performs on Saturday, October 29 in Alief, but since some region 10 bands affected by hurricane Rita performed in other regions to qualify for area, the schedule isn't done yet because they're not exactly sure WHO'S going from that region just yet. They should have the schedule up today or tomorrow, I think
  15. Yes, clarinet IS the best instrument in the world...why do you think there are probably a million of us in Texas who play it?
  16. I'm obsessed with Laguna Beach and Degrassi!
  17. Hey! I go to Channelview and we're performing like at 10:30, I think. Good luck to everyone who's participating
  18. Well, our concert bands (only mine, symphonic, performed) went to San Antonio in May for the DC Festival thing and not even 5 minutes on the road (we were barely on I-10!), one of the three charter buses broke down! It took an hour just to get it running all the way to Sealy, I think..it was so hilarious. Everyone made the best of it though, and we had a great time. As for away games during marching season, we always do like, a band icebreaker. I'm in student council, and we do what are called icebreakers--which is basically something to break the ice and loosen people up. Well, we always get bored and I think some people in the '04 class came up with a band version of the Wigolo icebreaker in Stuco, called "Gigolo". Of course it's uh, more mature, but we have so much fun making our band director squirm with embarassment....
  19. I have a new one, and thankfully it wasn't my fault! Just a couple of weeks ago, we were going through our Friday morning run-through and us in the front line (flutes and top clarinets) had a 12-step move that requires us to take big steps. Well, one of the freshmen flutes who happens to march next to me in this set fell hard on the ground and I heard her fall, so I went around her because it took her a minute to get up and my band director's rule of 'run them over' was soo not going to happen. The freshman clarinet on the other side of me, however, didn't know what had happened and she tripped over the flute player, causing a dogpile with those two. Good thing was that nobody was hurt--except for me, who got kicked in the leg!
  20. wow, that'd be really difficult for my section because there are only 2 guys who play clarinet...the 10 or 11 others are girls!
  21. I live in Channelview (east of Houston) and all we got was some trees down and power outages. I'm soo thankful nothing else happened! The only thing I didn't like was going to Fairfield..it took us 8 hours to get there when it's normally a 3 hour drive. YUCK! We took the back roads and stuff to avoid going I-45 (I've heard horror stories on the traffic) but everyone had the same idea, apparently.
  22. Pre-AP Spanish III (which I'm getting out of..yay!) Pre-AP Chemistry AP English III Band III Health/Speech (speech is 2nd semester) Applied Music I Pre-AP Pre Calculus
  23. Surprisingly enough, I've never fallen during a performance..only during practices and Friday run-throughs during class! The huge one was last year when we had this huge, backward follow-the-leader set and I tripped over my band director's foot (who was in the way, not me being out or anything) during the set and fell, causing the person ahead of me to fall with me! The worst part was, it was in the front which had been muddy from rain,so I got dirty, too. I also chipped my reed and got laughed at for days!
  24. We also have a reputation for sucking, but it's OK...everyone still comes out to the football games and has a blast. It's especially cool because a lot of people are in the stands when we're marching and they always cheer for us We only won one game last year, and it was in overtime, by one point. We did pretty good my freshman year, when we beat the No.8 ranked 4A team, Dayton, and had a shot at going to playoffs. We didn't make it in, though...which worked well for me because I like concert season better
